It's in an ... unusual ... strip mall with a weird assortment of businesses, including another auto place. Anyhow, just shows that you truly can't judge a book by its cover. The owner, Dee, was incredibly helpful. I wanted to get my Land Cruiser's emergency brake fixed. The dealership gave me a runaround as to why they didn't want to deal with it - said it would be too expensive, risk too many other parts, so on and so forth. Well, Dee took a look - said he might be able to fix it. A couple of days later, he called me back to tell me the car was ready. The price was right and the work was solid. I also had him quote me another job that I had gotten quoted at the dealership - he came in $500 under what the dealership wanted to charge me. I think I found a new mehanic!

Never had as many problems just trying to get a reasonably accurate estimate from any auto repair shop as this one. The process with four other shops I checked out for the same repairs using same description went smoothly, so not sure why it was so difficult for RNJ. Needed a simple headlight replacement, installation of a new combo meter (circuit board that displays speedometer and odometer), and a quote for an engine swap on a Prius. The woman who provided a two hour quote for the combo meter, Nancy J., didn't know what one was - which is understandable - but apparently couldn't be bothered to look it up. On July 15 promised to get me a quote on the engine swap the next day, then almost two weeks later (July 27) said still didn't have it. Rather than being somewhat apologetic for not following up as promised, her reply was seething with sarcasm. Things rarely turn out well, in my experience, when a company is this careless and puts someone who doesn't understand the fundamentals of customer service as your first point of contact. It's not uncommon for these companies to exercise poor judgment in other aspects of the business as well. Bottom line: Service leaves much to be desired and prices not very competitive. Too many shops out there who are eager to earn your business and extremely capable to put up with this level of carelessness and sarcasm. Is this shop better than a dealership as mentioned in several of the positive reviews? Sure. But that's setting the bar really low. [Note: Nancy edited her sarcastic comments out of the allegedly entire conversation in her response. Can't help but think if they're incapable of honesty in a review, how much can you trust them with your auto repairs?]

I've has a tuneup, timing belt, O2 sensors replaced, oil changed, and a battery replaced here... and no complaints. My car has always been serviced within 4 hours to 24 hours depending on the work (that was my timing belt and tune up). The prices are very reasonable too, one thing that people need to be aware of is that Gabriel, the shop's owner does not take plastic, so be aware and bring cash or a check book. Most people would have a problem with that, but honestly it keeps costs down for him which are passed to me. His oil changes are about $15 if I recall correctly. The shop itself looks a little run down....the place could use some fresh paint here and there, but whatever. I called around to several different Auto Shops an received quotes from high as $580 and the lowest was $430. My friend suggested Family Auto. They try to work with my schedule and I have only had to leave my car overnight once. The only times that I have taken my car somewhere else, I have gotten ripped off! After that $1500 lesson, which Don fixed for $180, I will be a loyal customer for as long as they are in business! One time, when my wife dropped the car off for repairs and decided to walk to a nearby store to wait, she got stranded at the store because it started raining. Don and his wonderful team, finished the repairs and did a "test drive" over to the store to pick her up! Did I mention I love these people?
