Without getting into details, sometimes it is best to push away from the computer and talk with someone by telephone. I was referred to Earl Owen Supply in Sherman for help. Was looking to see if they could give me some advice or possibly fix the product - in which I would pay them. The manager acted like they couldn't help fix this and really wasn't interested in helping. Mentioned this experience to a friend and he felt the same way about the manager at Earl Owens and said he took his business to Lone Star Conversions in Sherman. I took them my vehicle. The manager/owner of Lone Star Conversions dropped everything, asked for my keys and took it to the garage. He and his son worked on the problem for 30 minutes and got it fixed. I told them I was grateful and said let's go get this settled up. They wouldn't take my money. Just were appreciative I came to them and said send friends there way if they need anything. Today I bought a napa brand battery here in Sherman, TX. It was one of highest rated on the…read moreshelf. 84 month 3 yr replacement. The Cost: over $100, but I needed universal posts and had to get my truck started to unload tree limbs and brush before nightfall. When I opened my trunk, there sat a USED battery, mfg date JAN 2009, with bogus plastic caps on the posts. Yes, when caps were taken off, first thing that caught my eye were the visible markings of prior abuse. Yes, CORROSION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My advice to a would be scam auto parts dealer is this: Next time you try to pass off a used battery as new, at least: 1. Wipe off the dust and dirt that accumulated in the crevices surrounding the fill caps. 2. Clean the posts with a wire brush 3. CHARGE the battery Yes, after driving 10 miles round trip to get it, haggling with the sales clerk about charging my warranty battery first, then finally getting home and installing it with just enough time to get my work done: IT WAS A DEAD, BATTERY. !!!!!!! What is this? I have many theories, but now understand why the sales clerk was so eager to bring it out to my car. He kept the conversation going and didn't want me to figure out what I just bought. I will update this post if the outcome is okay. Otherwise, the way I feel right now does not warrant one star.
