ZIO has developed a Control4-centric, integrated technology solution for my new-construction…read moretownhome - and I could not be happier with the results. The process started with an assessment of my needs for the new townhouse. One thing I found unique about ZIO's approach was that their rep wanted to understand the big picture of the end results I expected. Rather than pushing for this and that "cool gadget", he wanted to understand first what end result I had envisioned. The capabilities I desired encompassed audio, video, lighting control (both lights and shades), security, and climate control. After discussing budgets and timelines, I was presented with several solutions that would meet my requirements. Once again, the ZIO rep took the time to explain the rationale behind each recommended approach, as well as the trade-offs involved. Once a solution was selected, ZIO delivered it on-time and in a very professional manner. I was always kept informed of the progress. The installers and technicians took the time to make sure all my questions were answered - being an engineer, I had many. After using the system for a few weeks, I decided I wanted to make very slight modifications to some of the lighting programming. ZIO made it a breeze for me. The support after the job was completed has been outstanding. Another aspect that I believe makes ZIO stand out: their solution took into consideration future growth. A few months after the initial installation, I decided to upgrade to an OLED tv for my living room. Upgrading to a 4K HDR system downstairs was quick and completely painless. Anyone can go get a lot of the cool new gadgets at Best Buy. But if you are looking for an integrated, seamless solution that is tailored to the capabilities you want, you should contact ZIO.

After careful consideration I picked Zio do install my home theater in my new house. My choice…read moreproved to be a wise one. Professional and meticulous are the adjectives that come to mind. Once finished they stand by their work and continue with any support after the job is done. From proposal to turn key Zio is the company to use when you have high expectations.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS AFTER OWNERS REPLY:…read more Not only does this company have shady business practices, now the owner is outright lying about the situation. I fired them from finishing this work. I'm the one that called the owner first to give him a chance to do the right thing. He says I'm being petty, but I don't like it when someone tries to take advantage of me, as I'm sure no one does. Here is the section of their proposal that discusses what is included. Read it and you decide. If no one from the company verbally tells you that there will be a second proposal, would you think something else is needed after reading the following? "Our pricing, unless otherwise noted, includes all labor charges and installation fees. Most of our equipment is priced at or below MSRP but the price you see includes everything needed to install it, thus we call it "installed price." If you need to have the proposal separated we can provide that, but through our experience most clients find installed price easier to understand. Labor charges as of this proposal are $155 per man hour for installation, $185 per man hour for programming, and $125 per man hour for retrofit. Our programming and retrofit labor charges are our best estimates and unless otherwise noted include time for setup and programming of the system plus time for tweaking the program. We have found that most customers require changes within the first 30 days as they begin to use their systems and we will modify the program twice within 30 days after the installation is finished."

I dropped my lamp off to be repaired and was told it would take "about a week". On the 8th day I hadn't heard anything so I called the store. Mind you when I dropped the lamp off for a simple wiring repair I was told it would be a little over 100 dollars which I thought was a lot of money, but the lamp had sentimental value so I agreed. There were lamps all over the store and I wasn't given a claim ticket or anything, I just walked out of the store thinking it was a small business and they would just remember me and my lamp without a claim ticket. My father owned a small business and he could remember every person he spoke to. After a week, I'd heard nothing so called the store, and I was asked to describe my lamp. I was caught a bit off guard by that but I described it as brass looking because it is. Now obviously there are a lot of brass colored lamps, and one would think an organized business person would assign claim tickets to items in order to keep track of them. The person I spoke to, I assume is the owner seemed to have no idea who I was or which lamp was mine, he put me on hold. He came back and advised that, after a week, my lamp was not done but that if I would call him by the end of the day he would have it done. I had advised I needed to travel for my job and I wanted this off my plate before I left town. I called later that day and was advised the lamp is done. The next morning I woke up an hour early to drive the 40 minutes to get the lamp. When I walked in, the lamp was sitting in the same place I'd left it 9 days earlier. I pointed at the lamp and said "I'm here to pick this up" and the man said "oh that's your lamp? It's not done. That lamp is more gold colored, you said yours was brass". If this man didn't have his head up his you-know-what, he would have a clue how to run a business. If you call their phone number, he doesn't answer with the name of the business, he just says "hello" and you have to ask if you've reached the lamp repair store. When I got there to pick up my unrepaired lamp, I found him out front smoking a cigarette. Classy. I left with my unrepaired lamp and the man could not have cared less that he wasted my time. So if you want to do business with moronic idiot who won't respect you, your business or your time, go for it.
