My choice was to request Mary who was no longer working. So my GF got Peter, and my masseuse was Woody. We both had the same Massage a one hour combo with oil and stones, total $90. This packet starts with foot bath, face up massage, then turn over for back in neck. A massage experience is mostly attributable to the masseuse, but mine was very well done. My GF had a lot of back pain, and was relieved of most of it during the massage, with a little help from naproxen. I honestly would not return at all to this place & I will proceed to detail my horrible experience...I came with my husband on Wednesday & my back is still hurting from the horrible massage I received from here. My husband surprised me & booked massages for us Wednesday 5/17/2023 & opted to try something closer to home. He booked it from here based on the reviews & maybe I just had a bad experience or others must not try different places out to know what a good massage is all about. For starters the price is a bit pricey in comparison to my go to spot. At my go to spot the couples massage is $65, here we were charged $80 & we still tipped our ladies $15 each. (Which I don't feel my lady deserved, but my husband is a generous man.) There is absolutely no calming ambiance about this place. There was no relaxing music playing like other places for the first 10 minutes or so into the massage & when I could finally hear music it was from afar. The couples room is smaller than other places I've been to, very small actually & I questioned how clean the room was. The walls are thin here so you can here the conversations going on around you. If you're looking for a calming spot this ain't it. Now for the massage itself I must say the foot massage was the only enjoyable portion of the massage, for that reason I give this 1 star review. My lady was very rough on my back & when using one hand to massage my neck her other hand was pressed down hard on my lower back. I told her off, but I don't think she heard me so I moved my body for her to get a hint. She was also rough when doing the scalp massage. My head is still sore from how rough she was on me, but my back especially is still bothering me. I'm currently having to ice it & put on Salonpas pads on my back to deal with her messing me up. The lower back is hurting me the most, but in general she was very rough on me. At some point my lady & the lady massaging my husband started chit chatting away in their language (not English) & were laughing it up. I'm all for being cool with your coworkers, but not while you're on the clock & are doing a bad job at that. She only used hot stones for a minute & she didn't even let them rest on my back for a bit like at other places we've gone to. That's the part I look forward to the most & the fact she just rubbed them quickly on my back & discarded them without letting them lay of on my back was downright dissatisfying. The worst part was that they kept the damn drape to our room open when going out to get the supplies & here I am just in my underwear!!! I was face down ass up & the sheet they use to cover your butt this lady tucked it in my underwear that she lowered half down so half my ass was exposed!!! I wouldn't have noticed since I was face down but I had an off feeling & I got up to check & sure enough the drape was left fully open. Anyone walking by to use the restroom or being taken to a room could've seen my exposed rear. I immediately pulled my undies up & sheet. I wish I would've taken a picture but I didn't have my phone near me. It was in the bin with my clothes under the massage bed. I find that extremely uncomforting, & truly inconsiderate towards customers because there's other people walking around. I'm by no means a prude, or shy about my body, but I'm also not into exposing my body for all to see. When being massaged I enjoy my husband's & my privacy & this place FAILED to provide that. A few tips to whomever runs this place please teach your staff the importance of providing privacy to your customers, get more speakers for your establishment & play relaxing music to create a calming ambiance, & tell your staff to not give rough massages unless a person wants deep tissue (which I did not ask for) I believe this place has potential, but I would never ever return. I've been coming to Ava Foot Massage for over 10 years. I have had a variety of pressure applied from different folks, whether they be male or female. All good massages. I always leave feeling better than when I came. Things to note: -You can hear others - all massage rooms and not enclosed; some walls are thin. Calming music is played so if you go at an off time when no one is there you can hear it more vs focusing on your neighbor snoring or moaning during their massage. -You can leave your clothes on for the standard massage. Tip: I used to go in a crop tank top and shorts so the massage was easier. If you get an oil/hot stone massage It's recommended to take your shirt (bra is optional too while face down for ladies - they step out of room). -Card and cash are accepted. I always tip cash. I used to tip $10 back in the day (pre covid inflation when basic massage was $20) but I always leave feeling good so I generally tip $15-$20 depending on the experience. I've never once had someone complain about asking for more tip money. This isn't Glen Ivy or Massage Envy - but on a week night it sure does get the job done. read more

Left here feeling a bit disappointed. I got "Combo C", the woman who massaged me Sandy? Soni? not sure what her name was but I kid you not she spent most of her time rubbing oil on my calves. When it was time to pay I left a 12% tip, the woman in the front told me 20% is standard. I let her know that the reason I left that amount was because while working on the bottom half of my body I was not being massaged only rubbed. She told me that I have to let them know that I want pressure. I understand there are different preferences when it comes to pressure, however if I'm at a massage place I don't think I need to be asking them to use their thumbs it's common sense she was literally open palm 0 pressure rubbing me up and down. I let the girl know I will give more tip as a courtesy, so I went ahead and left 22% but as a courtesy to others I'm leaving this review so you're aware of the type of service you may receive. Maybe if the woman up front would have apologized or not insisted on more tip I wouldn't be leaving this review but I really don't think I'll be coming back anyway. Got a massage from nancy and it felt so good! The only thing I didn't like about this place was they didn't really guide you with directions they just make you go to your designated room and don't tell you to take your clothes off or to keep it on if you'd like.. I think basic directions/ guidance should be needed for newcomers! I think this will be my go to place for Chinese torture massages (that's how I describe these types of massage places). This isn't your traditional massage place with scented candles and a private room. It's a large communal room with raw onions along the wall. I have no idea why they keep onions. Maybe the onions are suppose to absorb toxins and evil spirits or something. They use lot of pressure during the massage so don't come here if you are used to relaxing massages at the spa. They really beat the crap out of you to get all the knots and toxins out of your body. It's somewhat painful during the massage but I always feel better afterward. Price here is one of the best I've seen. For almost an hour of massage, it's only $20 (before tip). There's a Yelp check-in offer for $15 for first time customers, which is a really good deal. There are several different massages you can choose from but the basic foot massage is the best deal. Even though it says foot massage, they still massage your whole body. If it's your first time you may want to ask for mild to medium pressure. I asked for medium on my most recent visit but it was still somewhat painful around my neck and shoulder area. It's kind of hard to find this place because it's located on the side of a plaza. It's the only place that faces east while all other businesses face north. The therapy center is adorable, clean, comfortable beds, soft linens and plush towels. There is a basket to place your personal items. I opt for reflexology and then have them torture my back and release toxins from my lymph nodes. It's a beautiful torture. Good pain. It hurts so good. When it ends. You're sad. Last night my usual place, who I've been going to for three-plus years (i'm their Duchess of Yelp), royally screwed up. I called for an appointment with my go-to and they tried to give me the switcheroo upon arrival, which I can't stand on principle. So I went to Ava because I went there a few years ago and liked the massage. I called ahead, around8 p.m. and they were able to fit me in for a $20 foot massage. I never ask for anyone particular because I normally don't need to but right away it was very weak pressure. I asked for more pressure and I found myself receiving a mediocre overexerted massage that I was not feeling. After it was done and it was time to pay, I asked the owner what massage I needed to request to have them walk on me and he became quickly defensive and started raising his voice at me. Regardless of culture, it is never acceptable to raise your voice at a customer who is literally just asking a question, I wasn't even bringing up my poor my experience and obviously wasn't going to waste my time to do so. BEWARE!!! I've been to this place at least 3 times with my family. Each time massage varies depending on the person doing it. The first time was good pressure, no complaint. The second time was rough with heavy pressure (the man was using his elbow on my back with all his weight). The third time was also good pressure. Each time was different, but I never complained, and we always tip no matter what. For the prices of the hour massage, I didn't have high expectations, and they did the job. **what really ticked me off was that the owner asked my parents for more money for the tip, adding that he'll split it between the workers. I usually covered the payment the previous times we were there, and we tipped each of our masseuse ourselves. This time, my parents were the first ones out, so my mom decided to cover payment. The owner decided to take advantage of my mom, who's older, and told her that she needs to be tipping more. We always give the average 15%-20% for each, but the owner had the nerve to ask for more!!!! My mom gave the owner whatever she had left. THE OWNER SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!!! I was on a hunt for a new foot massage joint since the last I went to began to let me down. I had been to Ava in the past, but all I remembered was a decent massage with employees that all smoked cigarettes outside and never washed their hands... I know gross Huh?? however... I had such a pleasurable and relaxing experience this go around . The place sits on the side of a shopping center with Big lots on one side and KFC on the other. The large neon signs make you wonder "what else are they selling?" I came in with a friend at 8:30 pm on Sunday without an appointment and was pleasantly surprised that they took us in. We had to wait twenty minutes.. but was happy that they found us some room. I would highly recommend that you call in and schedule your appointment. Those that call in, get priority. The massage was awesome and sooooo worth the money. Though my masseuse changed mid way during my massage...(they thought I wouldn't notice lol), the massage was excellent. Don't be fooled, their foot massage for twenty bucks is actually a full body massage! They start with your face... oh my!!! Love it! They work on your arms and hands. They then work on your feet and work their magic. If they had a two hour deal, I would totally do it!!! They also have you turn over on your belly and work on your back. Oh my!! I loved it and it was so relaxing. The masseuse had the touch of an angel. The room where they give the massage is open and not as private as you would want it to be for a massage parlor. We had a woman moaning/snoring on one end and we had another man snoring on the other side of where we were laying.... but the awesome massage makes you forget you are in a room full of strangers. You keep all your clothes on so don't worry about over exposing yourself to a room full of strangers. All in all.. I forgot how fantastic and cheap this place was. I will definitely come back!!
