While the roof was open they installed 6" of cellulose insulation over the12" of existing fiberglass. Happy to say the quality materials and professional workmanship are still there. Mark and the crew kept our house dry even with the unexpected rain during installation. I was happy to see how little ice I had on my roof with all the snow we had in North Evans this year. When the insurance adjuster came to review the claim, Collingwood was there to make sure the claim covered the repairs. When they opened the roof, rafter damage was found. Again Collingwood worked with the insurance company for us. There was also some siding that needed replacing. Larry gave us some suggestions to use existing siding to replace the damaged area and add an accent along the bottom with Versetta Stone. The additional cost was well worth the investment to the curb appeal of our home. Many of our neighbors commented on how nice our house looked.

I met with Collingwood Construction, explained my problem, and asked if they would be willing to come to my home to give me an estimate. I was unsure of the scope of work and was quite upfront about that. I didn't know if I needed a complete lower roof or just a repair. They enthusiastically assured me that no job was too small and would be happy to give me an estimate. After the home show someone called me to set up the appointment. Good start in my book. They then followed up with a letter confirming my appointment, provided information regarding the services they offered, and even provided references. Great. This is where things got a little funky... A few days prior to the appointment I received a call from a woman confirming the appointment and then asked if my husband would be present. Um, what? Yes, she asked if my husband would be present. Had the shoe been on the other foot and a man set up the appointment would they ask if his wife would be present? I doubt it. I informed the woman that my husband would be out of town, I owned the home, and the title and mortgage was only in my name. Why would I need my husband present? She backpedaled a little and said it was helpful to have everyone on the same page. I assured her he trusted me completely to make the decisions and as a real estate broker I know more about homes, structures, and repairs than he did. She said that was fine and that we were all set for our upcoming appointment. The day of the appointment, about an hour and a half prior, I received a call asking if I was going to be home for the estimate. I said "yes". I actually had to rearrange my schedule and turn away an appointment to make sure I had enough time dedicated for the estimate. Then the man on the phone asked me to describe the roof problem again. I, again, relayed the issues we had been having. He mentioned he remembered me from the home show and even remembered I was a real estate broker. He then said it did not sound like a very big job, they were really busy, East Aurora was far away from Getzville (where they are located) and that he was not going to show up for the estimate. He then said goodbye and hung up. I was shocked. I can't imagine treating any potential client like this. What's more is if you didn't want the work you could have cancelled any time within the two weeks prior when we scheduled. I have to wonder if the fact my husband was not present weighed into his decision to not show up. Being in real estate I refer a lot of work to contractors, roofers, etc. I've not had the best feedback from my clients with regards to roofers recently which is why I was at the home show hoping to connect with a couple new ones I could refer. I would NEVER recommend this company for any work, EVER. They were dismissive to me as a woman and completely disrespectful of my time. Avoid this company.

The roof started leaking at the vent pipe location. They first sent a guy who, instead of taking responsibility, completely denied there was any problem with the roof and said the vent pipe itself was the problem as it was rusted. We spent a $100 on getting the vent pipe checked out by an HVAC technician, who told us that the pipe was fine - no issues. So, I had to climb on the roof with a garden hose and run water on the roof to show that it was because of bad roof installation - I sent JP the video of the problem (the flashing of the vent pipe was not properly meshed with the shingles), and only then they agreed to fix it. The second problem is with the gutters, which are still not fixed. There is a gap between the new gutters and the roof, which is letting water to come through the gap. I have been trying to get hold of the person - they have promised to come 4 times over the last month but still have not fixed the problem. I have stayed home from work a couple of times just for it, and they did not even inform me that they were not going to make it that day. All in all, a very bad post-install service - a complete lack of professionalism!

First of all, since my initial post we had Fiddler replace our garage roof. $2000 and maybe an afternoon? Bam. You'd never have known they were there except that the new roof was lovely. Second, last year we'd been experiencing a critter home invasion - well, not really, but we had raccoons living in our soffits (I think that is what they're called). There were a couple holes made and John and another guy came by within a day or so and got them sealed up again (no raccoons were harmed!) at NO CHARGE. This is not the first time they've done "small" favors just gratis. I mean. Anyway, when the time comes we will absolutely have Fiddler roofing the house. And I tell anyone I know who mentions needing roofing. John, thank you and your staff for being truly wonderful businesspeople.

Jake had an excellent presentation - They were the lowest bidder - The roof looks good and I have not had any issues with it. - Their "A" team came out to correct some issues (the flashing looked like it had been installed by a 4th grader) The Bad: - I was told that a PM would be onsite the entire time. In reality he was on site for maybe 10% of the project - My project was sub-contracted out to a another team and I was NOT informed of this. This became a major problem when I started having issues and could not talk to anyone (the subcontractors did not speak english). Note that Buffalo Fresh Roof is NOT the company you are signing with. The contract is actually with Bors Pros Construction - Within an hour on the first day, the protective tarps had come down and there was debris raining down on my deck and flower beds. When the PM showed up at the end of the day, he said that this could not be helped. Of course, that is garbage - they wouldn't put the tarps up if they didn't have a purpose. Also, this is not what I was told in pre-sales. As a side note, I saw the same sub-contractors working on a project down the street for another company a few weeks later. There were no problems with the tarps on that project. - The roofers decided to try to do a u-turn in my lawn and got stuck (I still have the ruts). They then gave me attitude when I refused to try to pull them out using my truck. - I have damage to my gutters, deck, flower beds and lawn. - I am still finding nails around the perimeter of the house To be fair, the PM did knock off the additional cost incurred in replacing some of the plywood. It wasn't worth what I am going to have to spend in the spring to fix my yard, flowerbeds and lawn - I just wanted them gone.
