My wife and I had always wanted to start our son in swim lessons early as we both come from a swimming/water polo background. We toured some other facilities but we really enjoyed the small vibe of AVAC. Not to mention my wife was able to get a barnacles class with the other moms from her New Mom School into one class for the babies. After barnacles we moved our son into the starfish class with Miss Kristina had he has loved it. He loves going every week and playing in the water and he's definitely gotten a lot more comfortable being in the pool. We've now been able to take him to our local cabana pool as well as a hotel pool and he's been great. I couldn't recommend the beginner swim class enough to get your kids comfortable with being in a pool. Once we are able to figure out his daycare schedule, we will be back for more classes in teh afternoon! read more

Our daughter just started her first swimming lessons without a parent with her in the pool. It was nerve wracking for all of us, but, as parents, we have to put on a brave face and cheer our kids on! She has only had 3 lessons so far, but my husband and I have been so impressed. Her teachers are very patient and supportive. Our daughter went from crying for 30 minutes (yea, the whole lesson...) to 5 minutes to no minutes! The staff has all been friendly- in and outside of the pool! We look forward to seeing how else she progresses at this school! I also want to give a special shout out to our instructor Violet-- you have really helped our daughter get more comfortable in the water while encouraging her to expand her comfort zone. Depending on the goal of swim school, AVAC could be 4 stars, but for me it's 3. The positives are that the instructors and staff are nice, the facility is clean, the level progression (despite the ridiculous names) helps with motivation and tracking, and it will certainly help with being comfortable in water. The negatives are the very slow pace of progression, the lack of performance insight, and the short classes. Regarding the progression, as well as touching on the class length and teachers, basically it takes too long to teach proper swimming technique, and the measurable goals are kind of trivial. For instance, I asked how long it would take for someone to be able to swim, without stopping, all the way across the pool. The teacher couldn't tell me. The teachers are also basically teenagers, so I'm not surprised because how would they know. Someone can attend this school for a year, and due to the classes being short (30 minutes) and the teachers not really pushing, and you'll see pretty limited growth. So if the goal is being able to eventually compete in swimming, or just have measurable distance/speed progression, this place isn't it. Ignoring that, though, the facility and people are nice. The teachers seem to be reassigned at random so I can't speak to any particular one, but they are all very watchful of kids and take safety seriously, which I like. The bathrooms are also clean, which is a big deal for me given how many young people go through each day. And there are lots and lots of classes. I also appreciate that there are showers by the pool, as well as semi-private showers around a corner. After class, swimmers can warm up in the showers by the pool then go to the bank of 6 showers around a corner to use soap to wash off the chlorine. To a degree, I mean. It's not open to the whole pool but there's still other people there. Overall, I would say if the goal is comfort in the water and basic swimming skills, this place is probably 4 stars. If the goal is more about competitive swimming and fast progress, well, that's why they get 3 from me. The parking lot is off street but pretty tight, I've never not had a spot but you may need park away from the entrance. read more

Every single time I walk in, she greets me with the warmest, most genuine smile and remembers my name (even when the place is packed). We've had our son enrolled here for about a year and have really enjoyed our experience. All of the staff have been super friendly and welcoming. The facility is well maintained & offers a good variety of swimming essentials for purchase which is helpful (especially if you find yourself running short on time and in need of convenience). His instructor is the best, shoutout Miss Alexa! She's so patient with the toddlers and genuinely joyful when teaching. This review is for Alexa, Liem and Hannah. My kids have advanced to higher levels in the journey to become swimmers. So the instructors have been updated. Alexa is the type of teacher that makes kids feel at ease. She is bright and cheerful enough to bring out the best in kids especially if they are having a down day. She is a joy to work with and the kids love her and get upset if they get a sub. What I like about her is that very little time is wasted and the kids are always focused on something. As for Liem, he is awesome. Took over a class for one of my kids and she is rarely this excited about swimming, but Liem makes it fun. He makes swimming enjoyable while tiring them out. Hannah, took over the advanced class for students learning to increase endurance. This is the last step before pre-comp level. She makes sure the kids get enough practice while keeping an eye on form. After a few laps the kids start loosing technique and form, but under the watchful eye of Hannah makes sure they get back into form. Her approach is gentle yet progressive, giving breaks when needed but making sure they continue to practice to develop endurance. read more

We have been AVAC family for a few years now. Our older daughter started here and has now progressed to Orca level (strokes). She is in Mr. Noah's class and absolutely loves it! This school is geared for kids that need the fundamentals of swimming and to gain confidence in the water. The class sessions are great for little ones; 30 minutes in a small group setting, so maybe they get like 10 mins 1-1 with the instructor, which is enough. The progression system is cute; kids get a ribbon once they validate certain skills and they get to ring a bell to celebrate the achievement. I wanted to give kudos to two wonderful instructors my son has had; Melissa M (who now primarily works front) and Jerry. We started here in May 2023 as our daughter started off when she was 2.5 years old and we had to go along with her into the pool. The instructors were very friendly and listened and adapted to our requirements as the days went by. As our daughter turned 3, we were put in a queue for the next level class where parents do not have to go into the pool with the child. Initially it was a little bit challenging for the kid to transition but AVAC team helped in that by comforting our daughter to the new class. I would especially thank Ms Makaila(sorry, if I got the name wrong). She helped our daughter when she was struggling to keep her breath under water for more than 5s. She even adapted her to search for toys under water as a bait to keep her under water for longer time. Voila! She got the trick and now she is learning fast! Kudos to her calm nature and keeping up with our daughter's tantrums. Overall, I highly recommend this school for anyone looking to get started. We have 2 kids enrolled at AVAC and they both love it! Our daughter (6yrs) loves her coach Elina, she is attentive and fun and has a great rapport with the students. Before joining AVAC, our daughter had some hesitancy in the water due to lack of swimming skills, but we have seen incredible improvements in her confidence and skill in the water over the past year since working with Elina. I participate with my son (2yrs) in the parent child classes and he absolutely loves it! Coach Paige makes the classes fun and engaging for the toddlers and parents as we practice critical safety skills, and develop confidence in (and under) the water though basic swimming techniques. He has also made tremendous progress since starting. Overall, both our kids are having a great time while making tremendous progress at AVAC. read more

My Son goes to Avac for several years now and changed multiple instructors and classes and moved up to next steps but hands down Alex and now Marisa are the best ones we met there. Marisa is so patient and my 7 years old Son loves to go there and learns quickly as he loves the way she deals with him. Danielle Griffith-Jones was very responsive to my questions and provided enough detailed information to make us open to try AVAC. Definitely grateful for our interactions. Our only other prior swimming pool/facility/lesson experience was at Maki. AVAC feels a bit more "corporate" in a way...like your traditional pool for families. The check-in process is super easy and I like that it has a room/area for parents to wait for their older kiddos while they are in a lesson. They definitely are strict about the swim diapers. Our daughter is fully potty trained at 2.5 but we of course still obliged to the code and had her wear a swimsuit with a diaper built into it. They apparently were doing diaper checks? Not sure how they are supposed to do that and be mindful of kiddos' privacy? Anyhow, long story short, they told me that she at first wasn't allowed to go into the pool with a diaper-lined swimsuit and then recanted it by saying that as long as it is tight around her legs and tummy it should be fine. Interesting start to our experience, but I understand their intention, since we are all about cleanliness of pools, course! There were only two other kiddos/parents at the first lesson and then 5 other ones at her second one. I watched and took some cute videos of our daughter. Sam is a great instructor and definitely doesn't want to push the kids to do more if it seems like they will cry. The acoustics are what you would expect at an indoor swimming facility. Overall it looked like our daughter had fun, and I think they sang one song, but compared to Maki, we learned so many more techniques in a lesson and had more songs and interactions with the teacher. I do like that they incorporate some toys into the lessons, which made it fun for my daughter, so I do like that part! I also like that they have a changing area and a shower area as well. They could put a sign on the restroom door to indicate that there are changing areas in the area with the restroom. As a newbie, I was a bit confused about that, but a gracious parent explained it to me. It seems like the changing areas are always busy, so that part is a bit annoying, bit Overall, it's a decent place for your kiddo to learn to swim, but it's a bit slower paced than other local places. If you want your kiddo to learn at a quicker pace, I would consider other swim places like Maki. Prices are cheaper too, but AVAC's facilities definitely trump the other ones. There was an issue where we were overcharged, but it looks like they resolved it? A bit annoying since you have to constantly monitor your card, since they have you sign up for recurrent payments... read more

I enrolled my kids and they were only able to find 1 class for 1 of my kids but Megan worked some unknown magic and we were able to have all 3 kids enrolled. She saw the stress that I had by coming in twice a week and then finally told me that there was availability for all 3 kids on the same day. What an Angel she was. My three kids had the pleasure of having exceptional swim teachers. Ally, Kay and Tyler, with the guidance of Daniel. Unfortunately because of the new change in schedules 2 of them will have new teachers but I am confident in this school that they will be equally as amazing. Makaila and Cassie here we come. This swim school is great! They have a wide range of classes and swimming levels. The facility is nice and clean. Parking can be a bit difficult during certain times of the day but good turn around if you wait. Staff is super friendly. We love our instructors! Have been here for 5 years with two kids 4 years apart. Well organized and good routine for the weekend. The infant/toddler class was fun for me and wife and our current favorite infant/toddler teacher is Ms Freida and in the past it was Mr Charles. AVAC has been great for my family! My oldest child went through their swim lesson program and is now very comfortable in the water. This is one of those reviews that I should have written ages ago but also do not want to write. Because I really do not want it to become more popular. The teachers and staff here are what makes this place so amazing. My oldest has made unbelievable improvement since she started working with Ms. Siena. She's the kind of teacher who is experienced, knows what she's talking about, and caring enough to check in on the kid on her day off. How can I not adore her? Then there is Ms. Frida who always says hi to my little one even though we had to leave her class because of schedule conflict. Ms. Hatziry (sorry Ms. Hatziry. I still don't know how to spell your name properly) who was always so enthusiastic about my little one's progress. And now Mr. AJ who has an unbelievable patience as my little one chats his ears off instead of listening to his instructions. The teachers here have been nothing but impressive, caring, and kind. It's not just the teachers though. The front desk crew and deck staff are also above and beyond. Coral is nothing but indulgent of my kids while being so open and inviting to talk about their progress. Emily and Coral had to take turns to coax my little one to join the class on days she wasn't feeling it. Just above and beyond. My son has been going to AVAC Swim school for 5 months. Thanks to the positive energy of the young staff and instructors, the kids there really seem to get into learning to swim and have a good time. The pool area is also busy, buzzy and it is quite fun to watch all the kids learn in a friendly environment.
