Our 4 year old just took her first swim class (ladybug level 1) here with Teacher Nick. Previously, she never liked water in her face and wouldn't go far from where she could stand in any swimming pool. We were pleasantly surprised that she loved this swim class and looked forward to it every day. We were able to visibly see the progression of just dunking her head on the first day to being able to swim short distances and dive for rings (assisted) by the end of the week. Wow wow wow, where to begin. Level One Day 1 - kiddo is full screaming putting his head underwater. Totally expected. Day 2 - still screaming but was still excited to come, loves that boat ride And then it was like magic! We were here for the entire summer with those week long sessions in level two. Different coaches every week and I wouldn't have changed a thing. Everyone is professional, knowledgeable and eons of patience. Each session is extremely efficient - they have a system that minimizes waiting times so the kids are constantly practicing instead of waiting for each child finish their "turn". We had the pleasure of having Alyssa as my daughter's swim instructor. We got lucky & got into a level 1 spring break swimming class. The night before I received an email from AnT Swim on what to expect throughout the week. On the first day of class, my toddler was nervous & having a little separation anxiety but the schools instructions were to give the child to the teacher even though they may be crying. I handed my toddler to Miss Alyssa & within a couple of minutes, she stopped crying! My toddler cried up until day 3 but the cry was very short. My son went from barely swimming to swimming confidently and well, which has been incredible to see. Even though there were more children in the class, the instructor took the time to work with each child individually and provided personalized feedback on what they needed to improve. Been going to AnT since my 12 year old was 4 months old! Love the instructors and the care they put into teaching kids to swim. All three of my kids have learned to swim with AnT through weekly classes and summer camps. They all started off nervous but the patience and dedication of the instructors got them there and they are confident in the water now. I also do their adult swimming program, I love the workouts and all we learn in class. Their techniques have given us more confidence in each stroke while also giving us a great low-impact workout. The instructors are encouraging, constructive and patient! Can't recommend AnT and all their classes enough! Super happy having now done (3) 1-week camps with AnT. We've had three different teachers and all were extremely skilled in teaching my child proper techniques and correcting mistakes as a beginner swimmer. We came from another swim school (having been referred to AnT by a friend) where we paid for 2:1 teacher/student ratio and didn't progress nearly as fast as an AnT lesson, despite a larger swim group. I also appreciated that Ana took the time during each camp to go over my daughter's progress with me to make sure she was in the right lesson and options for future classes. My daughter progress exponentially improved after we brought her to AnT swim school. She was going to swimming classes for almost two years with minimal progress, but she could swim the whole width of a pool by herself short after she started here. My daughter (3 yo) started at AnT in November being scared of the water and going under. Coach Diego's approach was so calm and gentle that she got into the water without hesitation at first -- my jaw fell to the floor because she rarely warms up to teachers or coaches that fast. We are now in February and she is ready to move onto the next level - Level 2. I am just so impressed with the way in which these coaches coach; their patience, gentleness, and encouragement is just wonderful for young kids getting comfortable with the water and learning to swim. I signed up for the infant classes during summer and had a wonderful experience. My baby was 8-9 months old and all the babies in her class were older but the teacher was excellent at including everyone in the class by offering modifications. They are very kind and understanding if you're not comfortable trying certain things with your child. In the infant class, one parent participates by holding baby and getting baby comfortable with being in the water and learning how to do submersions. Older children start to practice floating and kicking their feet in addition to holding their breath and going under water. Overall it was a great bonding experience and I'll definitely come back for more classes. It seems like babies older than 9 months will get the most out of the classes but it's great practice to bring them in earlier. The pool is very comfortably heated and clean. They have lots of toys and things to keep kids engaged. Bring sunblock, there are some shaded areas for sitting, tables to change at either end of the benches and changing pods. Parking is street but it was never a problem when I went on weekdays. read more

We've been attending Ant Swim on and off for almost a decade with our kids. Every time is a wonderful experience with the staff, as well as great learning progress for the kids. Terence is fabulous with little kids. The team has a really great attitude toward being gentle, patient and fun, while also pushing kids to get used to water and learn an essential skill. We had one experience where my son wasn't listening to instructions and as a consequence started to drown. I was blown away by the immediate and smart response by Ana. After we got him out of the water, she had calmly rushed over and after he had calmed down with me a bit, took him 1-on-1 onto a water board to get him right back in the pool. Spent time further calming him down in the water and reminding him that water can be safe and all was fine. He was even able to finish the lesson after that, instead of being terrified and maybe causing future water-fear issues. The approach they take to learning is spot-on. read more

I've taken my child here since she was approximately 14 months for their Baby Ant swim class. It's been so great seeing her grow and get comfortable in the pool. The first class, she was uncomfortable with water on her face and now she loves getting into the pool. Weird benefit is bath time has gotten easier! She doesn't scream like a banshee when she gets water into her eyes anymore. They do slowly work on new techniques and progress with each week so your child does not get stagnant. All of the instructors seem great. We had Terrence in the first baby ant session and he was great. So calm and patient with the kiddos. One improvement can be their enrollment process. The website and openings can be a tad difficult to process and these classes are so popular they get filled quickly. Price wise, they're probably the most competitive compared to the other swim classes in the South Bay. I completely recommend them. read more

Great experience. We've also done AVAC and Waterworks and felt our kids learned the most here. The mature, experienced instructors (vs high school kids at the other places) were great with the kids and make a big difference, and seemed to really care about the kids' progress. AnT Swim School - Winter camp level 1 - Swimming Lessons/Schools Near Me - San Jose, California

Unfortunately our experience with weekly classes was very different from that of the camp. We had 4 instructors in 4 months and the styles and class structure differed in all of them (level 2). Our 3yo son was getting almost no swim time (distance of about 5 yards), there was a lot of reprimanding, little to no encouragement, and reluctance to test his skills and level up. The senior staff members observed and tried to help improve his classes, but unfortunately he'd already come to hate swimming and taken to crying before every class. We went back to Waterworks and within 5 20-minute lessons he was swimming 25 yard freestyle with rotary breathing, very comfortably floating, and beginning breast and backstroke (he swims about 8 laps of the pool), and, most importantly, he enjoys swimming again. read more

While I cannot recall all their names--I do not believe you can go wrong with any staff here--I would like to shout out to Kathy (RIP), Terence, Alyssa, and Alex. They provide instruction, guidance, tips, insights, and goal setting with seemingly endless patience and good natured feedback. As cliched as it sounds, they meet you where you are on your swimming journey without patronizing, without pressuring. A great deal of my energy and time were spent just getting comfortable in the water and overcoming a very real primal fear. I'm getting there. So, while most reviews (rightly) focus on the excellent child swim programs, I'd encourage you adults to also look towards AnT if you're learning from scratch, honing existing skills, or just need a thorough non-impactful workout. read more
