Unfortunately, constant coach changes meant our younger daughter never learned to swim despite two years of lessons -- every time progress was made, a new instructor reset the process. When we finally found a coach who worked for both girls, the school switched them without any discussion. When we raised concerns, the person running the school (Maggie) was dismissive and condescending rather than willing to listen. We also dealt with frequent last-minute cancellations (Sandy expecting immediate response last minute ). The coaches themselves were often great, but management's poor communication made it impossible to continue. Get all commitments in writing before enrolling.

They have made some improvements to the structure. The receptionist/treasurer Sandy is a bit rude unfortunately. She has gotten short with me when I expressed that I prefer email communication and to only call if it is a true emergency. Scheduling can be last minute and I get that but I respond within 1 or 2 hrs via email and can't always chat on the phone due to my work and personal life. I have even gotten a phone call after 9 pm one day from her and it was just to let me know about scheduling! Not urgent. I will say though that they have tried thier best to notify me about changes to the coaches which is appreciated and I have returned the favor by being as clear as I can. They baby chaging station near the pool is between the men and women's bathroom's and doesn't get used much. Personally I would prefer it in both shower/bathrooms to feel comfortable changing my baby there so I get it. They have a changing room inside away from the pool though. It would be nice if the showers had more coverage as the curtains are a bit flimsy and gap quite a bit. The pool is covered so the sun protection is appreciated. The pool can get somewhat crowded so free swim is restricted to a very small area. The classes can collide some but it makes sense due to the pool size. My older daughter learned to swim here so with patient instructors and some time, goals can be reached here! This place is very very obsessed with yelp reviews and I was pressured to amend and clarify my previous review. This may or may not have happened with others. We had a decent experience there, but because you have to deal with the manager (who can be pleasant at times except in my experience when it comes to misunderstandings and communication boundaries) it can be a bit of deterent.

Posting this review as an honest assessment for families considering membership. We joined AOCC…read morewith high hopes of enjoying the pool this summer and sadly, it was a total disappointment. We quickly learned that unless you have kids under 10, this pool is not a fit. Our first trip was a Monday in early June (non-holiday) at roughly 1:00pm, we checked the website to see how many folks were at the pool (15 according to the site) which seemed reasonable. When we arrived, the pool was filled with 15 kids all under the age of 6 or 7, with pool noodles and parents. The AOCC is a very small pool - think backyard sized - and there was literally not a 4 foot unoccupied area. Please understand, I totally get it!! I am not complaining that there were kids in the pool - my kids are 11 & 13 and I've been there. Littles need their parents close by, littles are going to be loud and splash when they are having a good time. It just became really clear, really quickly that AOCC was just not a good fit for us. We tried coming on 2 other occasions (all during the week) and turned right around without even checking in because it was a similar scenario. The membership is $450+ and is non-refundable. And because was no way for me to know what the atmosphere was like without becoming a member, I want people who are considering membership to have an accurate description of what to expect and make a choice that works for their family. Evidently there are no exceptions to their refund clause because when I politely reached out to the board, explained why the AOCC was not a good fit for my family and requested a prorated or partial refund, I was essentially told they'd think about it and get back to me. I received no further follow up saying request was granted or denied. We opted to pay extra to waive the volunteer hours so I'm out $495 and am still searching for a community pool better suited for my family. I hope this review is helpful for potential members!!

Apon my arrival the woman at the reception to the gym when asked where the pool was located informed me that I would have to walk through the womens locker room to get to the pool. The other option is to walk through the mens locker room. As I took my 4 year old through the womans locker room I didnt expect to have to walk through to the very back to reach the door to the pool. I am extremely upset that my son was exposed to numerous naked women. They were either changing or coming out of the shower. My son was shocked and kept saying mommy they don't have clothes on..or mommy why are they naked. I don't even let my son see me naked!!!! As my husband arrived during the lesson my son had to use the bathroom and my husband took him to the mens locker room where I asked apon their return if men were nude on that sidecas well and the answer was yes! This is unacceptable and disturbing that SafeSplash is anything but safe to be ok exposing children to this. When I called customer service Alex their customer service chuckled and said "its just a locker room"! I asked to speak to the manager and he said he can only send an email. I asked for the number to their headquarters and he said their isn't one. What type of business is this!?! From what I was told their other locations are set up the same way. Exposing children to nude adults is never ok!! I was told someone would get back to me in 48 hours. The little child size pop up changing room smelled moldy...the 1 instructor working with 1 child at a time down the lane while other children who can't swin waiting on the step is unsafe as well. If 1 of those little ones hopped off the step who would of noticed if the instructor is half way down the lane. This who company is a disaster!

But this experience completely changed that. A huge part of that is thanks to Kelly, the owner. She is incredibly patient, calm, and intuitive as a coach. She meets you exactly where you are, never rushes the process, and somehow knows exactly how to help you push past fear without feeling overwhelmed. The environment is supportive, encouraging, and completely judgment-free--something that makes all the difference when you're learning as an adult. It's staffed most weekends with lifeguards and gate attendants. There are tables, lounge chairs, charcoal bbq's, umbrellas, snack bar, and bathrooms. We did swimming lessons this summer and I was very impressed with the swim instructors. All lessons are 1:1 and offered in the morning M-Th for 50 minutes. The price is a great value for the length of the lesson and 1:1 student teacher ratio. Our teacher was Gaby, and by the end of the second week my daughter (4.5 yrs old) was able to swim underwater a few feet by herself. The parents are allowed to be on the pool deck too.

The sign up happens once a year in spring time and pool is open until fall. The pool is heated and great for any kind of swimming. It is not crowded and everybody is very humble and kind. There are 3 charcoal grills that anybody can use. They are never taken. You can buy snacks there. They have couple of events through out the usage period which are very nice. It is always very clean and nice. Life guard is at duty. The staff is very attentive, helpful and friendly. It feels like family there.

They are located in a residential neighborhood and the only downside is the parking. Naturally, the residents do not want people going to the school to park in front of their homes and tend to leave their garbage cans etc. out on the street so get there early to find parking. The club itself does not have onsite parking. I looked at their website and called them because I could seem to be able to create an account and Joe, who answered, was very helpful. It turned out that I needed to use a different browser. The price is $140/month with a $45 one time registration fee. There are no makeup classes, which is also a downside. The pool itself is clean, with instructors in every lane. There were 3 kids assigned to the instructor that day with a max of 4. The instructors were patient and knowledgeable. There was one point of contact who was evaluating the swimmers and providing instructions. There is plenty of space for parents to hang out during the half hour class or you can leave but they ask that you stay close in case of an emergency. There are showers and loaner swim goggles and caps. They are close to the Cabana Club pool.

OVERALL I grew up here for nine years on the swim team. Their facilities are fit for Olympic trials…read morewith its "kiddie" pool, large Olympic sized pool, and diving pool. The diving pool was also used for synchronized swimming. I have many good memories on the swim team here and at open swim during the summer days. PUBLIC swimming hours in the summer were fun. They're located next to Central Park and the library so as a family you can really spend the whole day in this area. Across the street is a shopping plaza too.
