I had to have a MOH procedure for skin cancer. It was in a very noticeable place on my face (right between my nose and lips) so I was very fearful of the end result. I was nervous. But their whole team made me feel very much at ease and Dr. Chastain was a true professional. If I -- God forbid -- have more skin cancer to deal with, this will be my preferred doctor and facility for sure. Also to note: the procedure was very well done and the scar is barely noticeable after just one month. I'm anxious to see the improvement in 2-3 more months. I asked how much the services would cost while scheduling the appointment and was told that they could not determine it at that time. I still chose to go with them because their availability matched my work schedule. I paid the $50 co-pay and waited to see the doctor. Dr. Langlo removed the the surface layer of the nail and kept a sample to send to the lab. He told me it was a minor surface level fungus and that I was fine but wanted to send in a sample to be safe. A month later I received two bills in the mail. One from the office and the other from the lab both totaling $428.13. I was surprised by the cost and called the billing dept to inquire why I was charged this amount without being told when I asked originally. Before I could complete my question I was cut off by the representative who told me that I have to discuss it with my insurance. I tried to ask why I was charged $175 for an office visit that lasted 30 mins and was cut off again with instructions to talk to my insurance but in a louder tone. Dr. Langlo was kind and professional. His treatment made me feel better about my condition. Receiving the large bill in the mail was surprising but the reason I'm rating this office a 2/5 was because there was no transparency in the billing. Also when I tried to gain clarity I was rudely dismissed by their billing department representative. In summary the medical service was good but just be aware that the transparency isn't there and depending on your insurance a large medical bill can fall onto you without you having any heads up from the health care provider.
