I was ready for more of a dimensional look than what all over color could give and on a whim called a few different salons in the area. Thankfully, Gina, had some availability for that afternoon and it was the self care that I had been missing. My hair was dull and looked horrible before. Now it looks shiny and healthy. Avail Salon - Hair cut and colored by Drea - Hair Salons Near Me - Martinez, Georgia

I decided to get my hair colored by Meagan from Avail Salon based off of some recommendations from a page on Facebook. I had black, butt-length, straight, extremely healthy hair and I wanted it colored blonde. I knew that by processing my hair, it would need some extra TLC to prevent it from becoming dry and causing unnecessary breakage. So, I bought some of the best hair products on the market for use after Meagan colored my hair. She informed me that she would need to color my hair in 2 sessions to prevent it from damage and I agreed. I believe that the appropriate level of lightening occurred after the first session and she cut about 2 inches off of my hair. About 2 months later, I went in for my second session. I informed her that my hair was extremely brittle and hard to manage. I could hardly comb through my hair, especially after a wash. She suggested cutting over 4 inches off of my hair. After she dried my hair after coloring it, I realized that it was not colored lighter and in fact was a lot darker than it was before the second session. I told her that I was very specific in what I wanted and expressed it several times. She agreed, didn't charge me and scheduled another appointment 2 weeks later to fix it. I texted her the next day after my friends and family looked at my hair and took pictures of it. It was extremely uneven in color and they couldn't understand why it was so short. I asked her to consult with another stylist before my next appointment because I wasn't confident that she would be able to fix the damage she had already done. She finally responded a day later and told me that she wasn't confident in coloring my hair the way I wanted it and she would only be comfortable coloring it darker to try and even out the color. I declined because I didn't want her to damage my hair more than she had already done. I am now a little over a week from my appointment and my hair is falling out in clumps. It is severely brittle and it's thinner than it's ever been in my life!!!! I am so livid because my hair was so long, healthy and beautiful but now it's extremely damaged and shorter than it's been in over 10 years and I may have no choice but to cut the remaining hair off. I will be consulting with my attorney because I believe she was negligent in her duties and it caused severe damage to my hair. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS SALON!!!!! YOU ARE RISKING UNNECESSARY DAMAGE TO YOUR HAIR!!! I only gave 1 star because it wouldn't allow me to post a review with 0 stars but they don't even deserve 1!!!!! read more

Moved back into town a few months ago and have been looking for a new salon to try out. I went to the Avail website and liked what I saw, so I called up for an appointment. Whoever answered the phone was incredibly polite and friendly, and they worked me in for the next week. I even got a text reminder of my appointment the day before (very helpful!). The salon itself is clean, modern, yet cozy and inviting. It wasn't very busy when I walked in (apparently Monday and Tuesday are kind of quiet), but I was greeted with a smile. I told them I had an appointment with Carrie, and was told she would be right out. She took me back to her station in under 5 minutes. I explained to Carrie my concerns from past haircuts, and my hard-to-color hair. She seemed to understand, made suggestions, asked me questions and off we went! It turned out perfectly, exactly what I wanted. She spent plenty of time on my cut, making sure it was just right before I left. Overall I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone. I'll hold off on my 5-star review until another visit. Every staff member I interacted with was very friendly and seemed to genuinely like their job (hard to find these days). I have been working at this gem of a salon for two weeks now, and as a seasoned stylist, I am thoroughly impressed. The decor is exquisite, with cool blues and greens contrasted by deep shades of warm brown. The atmosphere is joyful and inviting, with no pretension to be found ANYWHERE- and the stylists are consistently talented and very energetic. The owners are kind-hearted and just as genuine as they can be. The prices are very affordable, and I really encourage anyone in the area to call or walk in for an appointment. Really. Although the girl who did my hair did a great job (shampoo/cut/style) I did notice that the brush she used wasn't clean which is something I think should be done when you're a hair stylist. I won't mention her name because I think she was very kind and genuine. Other than that, the salon is absolutely beautiful on the inside and I think I'll be back! read more

I just moved to Augusta and I found Carrie through a friend. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted and my first impression was the salon was very clean and charming. I went in for a hair cut and cezanne treatment. She immediately took me back and educated me about the process before she began and gave me clear expectations. I was skeptical because of the price but my hair looks phenomenal and it was worth every penny! The treatment and cut is absolutely gorgeous...I have very difficult hair to work with and it was no match for Carrie. I was grinning from ear to ear when I left because of how beautiful my hair looks. Not only is she a talented stylist but she is also friendly. Totally fabulous experience- My first trip in was with "Don" - the friendly, very customer friendly man made me feel right at home and then proceeded to give me the best color job, cut, shampoo and style I have ever had in working memory. I have thin, fine, difficult hair, I take meds - ( which he discussed with me) and my difficult hair was done to perfection! The over -all experience was certainly 5 star for me! I will go again and again - I suggest you do the same.. - and while I am sure ALL the stylists are wonderful, ask for "DON" your first trip in! read more

The staff is very friendly, however, some of the girls working are inexperienced. I asked the hair dresser for straight but with a little wave. She then proceeded to blow dry in sections then curled with a curling iron. Then, she told me she didn't know what I meant in the beginning. I'm sorry but why wouldn't she have double checked with me to see what I meant exactly? I don't know. Well, then she apologized and started blow drying my hair straight with a round brush. But didn't put any heat protecting product or frizz control. My hair ended up very frizzy. Especially knowing I have curly hair. It was just a waste of my time and money unfortunately. I'm not saying all the stylist are like that but REMEMBER TO ask for an experienced stylist. read more

I recently moved to the area and have been looking for a salon. I received a "welcome to the neighborhood" packet with information about the salon and based upon the review on Yelp, decided to give it a try. They were very personable and had an appointment the same day that I called. I asked for a "seasoned" stylist, as I have very fine and long hair, and wanted to make sure they put me with someone who knew how to cut it. They set me up with Carrie. Again, she was very nice, appeared to listen to me about my hair and the way I wanted it cut; I ONLY wanted a trim to clean up the ends; I was VERY clear about no texturizing). She said she understood; both my trepidation about getting my hair cut by someone new, as well as the way I wanted it cut. Then, she started cutting. She was behind me, so I could not see what she was doing. After a short while, she mentioned that she was "point-cutting" the ends, at which point I realized she was using texturizing shears. Anyone who knows anything about fine hair knows that you don't texturize it with those shears; all it does is thin it more. I won't go into detail (though I could) about the mess she made of my hair. The next day, I went to see my colorist and the hair was so texturized (not just the ends, but at least 4 inches into the hair) that he had a hard time getting the foils to even stay in the hair. I was very unhappy before I left and she had the owner look at it, who's idea to fix it was to texturize it some more to get it to blend. I obviously did not let them do anything else. I had a terrible experience, my hair is a mess (going to have to get a ton cut just to fix it). It is a shame that my hair was in great shape before going in (with only minor split ends) and it looks awful and unhealthy now just because a stylist decided to do what she wanted, not what she agreed to do based on the consultation and my wishes. I am glad the person who wrote the other review had a good experience. Mine was terrible, and one that has set me back at least a year to get my hair back to where it was initially.
