I had 0 intention of putting the salon on blast that completely buggered my hair but after what I experienced today ya know what let the full blast commence. Avalanche Salon & Spa you should be ashamed of yourselves how you treat customers after one of your stylists messes up. I was asked to come in to get my full refund, when I got there the women made the statement of this will end our business with you and your not welcomed back. Ummm excuse me why would I want to come back? I made it clear what I wanted with my hair dye, I was told it was attainable. Even while the stylist was dying my hair she said it would still be close to what I wanted, yet the end result was not even close. You darn well know your stylist messed up but instead of apologizing you continue to argue with me and tell me my hair was unbleachable and blame the dye I use at home. First the stylist was informed of the dye I use at home before even setting the appointment second you did a bleach wash not a full bleach. Lastly my hair is 100% bleachable. I've bleached it with the same products salons use so don't tell me my hair is unbleachable when you didn't even attempt to do a full bleach. Then to tell me this hot mess in the 1st photo is indeed pink and purple, are we serious? That is a dark mess with some purple streaks and red, on top of some spots missing dye all together. Not to mention my scalp is also stained from what your stylist did. The second photo is what I was told I'd be getting. Now let's go a step further. The last time I came in for a cut the same stylist messed up my under shave and bangs. There were patches of hair unshaved and my bangs were uneven. My under shave is not difficult, it has no fading, it's just a simple no attachment shave. And if you see my bangs in the photo, that's suppose to be newly cut but you can see the choppy look. I was just gonna take my refund and move on but since you wanted to continue to argue with me even while giving me the refund I will be filing complaints against your salon. I was in tears in this photo, I've had a beanie on my head since this was done, and I'm now going to have to pay even more to get someone to fix it because of the damage your salon did. read more

I drive almost an hour to see Dani to do my color. She listens and is always able to surpass my expectations. All of the stylists and assistants seem really nice and welcoming. They always make sure to set you up with a beverage or magazine to make you comfortable. My hair is fairly long and thick, so my appointments generally take at least two hours, but times flies and I'm always so pleased with the final result. The line of products they sell is really great, too! My new favorite product was recommended to me by my stylist, thank you! read more

I never post a poor review because I believe in giving someone grace but after today we will not return to Avalanche Salon and this review will not be filled with grace, but with truth so that this doesn't happen to anyone else. My teenage daughter broke down in tears in the car because her haircut was so botched. She has curly hair. She wanted long layers. What she got instead was uneven chunks across the back of her head with one side being really short, a long dog tail down the middle and the other side having really short layers underneath her longer hair that was still cut shorter than wanted. We called the salon and complained and the stylists response to the botched haircut was well it's not uneven it's because I diffused the hair. No, it's unbelievably uneven. The stylists proposed fix was to bring my daughter back in and she would straighten her hair to show her it's not uneven. Trust me her hair is uneven by different inch lengths from one side of her head to another. The person I spoke with on the phone regarding the botched hair cut told me that my daughter asked for layers this time which was different than her normal cut and that the stylist doesn't usually do layers in curly hair. If you don't know how to work with curls then that should've been the first conversation before you touched my daughters hair. Gracefully bow out and defer to another stylist. My daughter starts school next week and she is so upset about this that she doesn't want to go to school now because she feels her hair is ugly. We went to three salons trying to get an appointment to fix it. Each stylist responded with oh God, wow that's really bad, we can fix it but it will be shorter than what you wanted, what did she do to your hair. Thankfully she is able to get in with a very reputable stylist tomorrow at a different salon to fix the mess that was made today. Very disappointed not only in the lack of curly hair cutting knowledge without admitting it prior to the cut but also in the salon's failure to rectify the situation. We certainly weren't going to have the stylist fix it for fear it would get worse but you just charged me $60 for a botched hair cut that I will now have to pay to get fixed, and you never even offered a refund, a partial refund, a product gift card, nothing. You just tried to say that the teenager didn't understand what her curls would look like after being diffused. FYI the kid diffuses her hair several times a week so she's well aware of what her curls look like when it's done and they've never looked like someone hacked them with their eyes closed. I guess I'm supposed to be happy with the well I'm sorry she doesn't like her hair. Very unprofessional and disappointing. We will be moving over to the reputable stylist in a different salon that will be fixing the mess that's been made of her hair today. Shame on you Avalanche. read more

I have only been coming here for six months but have since brought my daughters as well. We all get cut and colored and we all use different stylists! The atmosphere is great and the hair washing chairs are the FIRST chairs I have ever used that don't hurt my neck. I originally started coming here out of convenience because I work nearby but I would strongly recommend the salon to anyone. read more

So I had the absolute best experience ever with Miranda! She was awesome she looked at what I wanted and was able to make sure we could do something similar. She listened and just was hands down one of the best hairdressers I've had in a long time. My cut is fantastic and she gave my hair body without losing too much of the length. I went from blonde to vibrant red and it looks amazing. She also encouraged me to get the no fade shampoo so that I can keep my look longer! Got my hair cut here once, and after the experience I don't plan to go back. I've had the same haircut for years, just some layering to my long hair. I was very explicit that I wanted my hair to remain below a certain length and she cut it way way too short. I don't feel like she listened to what I said at all. I'm really shocked by all of the negative reviews. I have extremely thick, coarse, curly hair and truly have the hardest time finding someone to tame it. My stylist has been doing my hair for over 3 years now and she always does an excellent job. The salon is clean and well decorated, the front desk staff is pleasant, and I have never had a negative experience here (getting my hair cut every 2 months for 3 years). Sal is simply an expert stylist who knows exactly what he is doing and the results prove it. What a relief to sit in his chair and know you're in good hands and will leave with a beautiful, stylish cut, without having to worry about the results. I have short hair and in the hands of the wrong person it can look like a helmet, or too heavy in places. Sal gets it, and it looks right every time. I was supposed to have my hair colored today. I showed up for my appointment on time however was left waiting for almost half an hour with no sign of my stylist in sight. The front desk offered nothing to alleviate my wait such as a drink. When I expressed my concern I was told that I would be helped in a minute. This of course turned into another 15 minute wait. I got up and left. The front desk asked if I wanted to reschedule. When I said no I thought she would offer a free blow out or some kind of discount. She simply said, "ok" and let me leave. I will not return to this salon due to the complete lack of care for their customers. I was looking for hair stylists for my wedding. Good to know this place in unreliable. Poor haircut by the owner Sal that is way overpriced for his talents/experience level. He has no clue as to analyzing a person type of hair for the haircut you might suggest. If you show him a picture,he will just cut it that way but if your hair isn't going to work for the haircut in the picture he doesn't offer any suggestions or analyze the hair for the cut. My hair is super thin and pin straight,but gets frizzy,limp and separates in humid weather. He cut my hair, it seemed somewhat close to the picture not saying anything but OK it will look good. A a week later it was just hanging wrong, separated,frizzed out, in humid weather, limp,no shape,looked terrible. I went back, he said that's what you showed me so I cut it that way, he re-cut it again and it still looked like crap with-in a week. Are you kidding? If my hair were analyzed for like you would think a master stylist, highly experienced professional/owner would do my hair would, he would not have have been cut like the picture. He should have told me what the Hair Cuttery said about the length,texture and type of hair I have before cutting my hair in this style. He commands $78 dollars for a cut and blowout this is a ridiculous price for someone who did nothing but cut my hair from a picture. He additionally finished my thin pin straight hair by flat ironing the whole head, looked pasted to my head and is damaging to thin hair. I felt that was ridiculous since I never asked him to do this. I went to the Hair Cuttery about 3 weeks later since I couldn't do anything with this limp ugly haircut. I was told it's best to cut the bottom off so it won't separate and will retain better style and shape at $26.Don't waste your money and time with this person, nice guy bad stylist, totally not worth the money. I'm really surprised by the bad reviews because I love it here. I've been going for over a year now and always have a great experience, leaving with a great cut and color. My hair is plain and thin and dull and Kaitlyn always manages to make it look better than any other place I've been to. Other reviews talk about a long wait, I've never waited more than a minute or two. They have a sitting area with a keurig where you can help yourself to a drink and by the time I make myself coffee, I'm already being called back. They always offer me more to drink and are friendly. I like the decor and layout too, it's not like most salons around here. Very "woodsy" with logs and bears and different mountain-type decorations (I don't know how else to describe it), but I really like it! It's comfortable. Color was too dark, even after the sylest said that will be dark, when I said I want my root color. I questioned it then and she shrugged it off as it'll be ok.. well its way too dark. And last time I got it colored they combined colors, this is just all one dark color no depth to it. The cut was not like I wanted, and now does not lay right at all. read more

I went three times to this salon. The color was okay, I asked for an ash blonde and all three times my hair turned out brassy and yellow. I just got a trim and on some parts of my hair it is cut uneven. In addition, the staff there is unprofessional. They talk about their personal lives while cutting/ coloring your hair. When I am at a salon I do not want to hear about how my stylist got drunk the previous night. Also, the ladies that work at the front desk are rude and not helpful when trying to make an appointment. They acted as if I was being difficult since they couldn't find a day and time that was available for me to come in to get my hair done. read more
