Avalon Campground WAS a very nice campground. Since it sold after the 2023 season, it has gone downhill under the new owners, whom no one knows. The manager, Michael Slifer, is terrible. It is very obvious that he cares not one bit about this place. Organized activities have pretty much stopped. The game room is not open consistently, and half of the games do not work. People no longer pick up after their dogs. The grass is not cut regularly. The flower beds are not weeded and munched. People are dumping fire pits and leaves in the woods next to the campground, which this campground does not own. Signs state Private Property No Tresspassing and No Dumping, yet nothing is done after it was brought to the attention of management.​ The streets are not blown off anymore. The upkeep on the volleyball court and baseball diamond is no more. Grass now grows on the court and on the diamond. The pools were ripped out at the end of the 2025 season to make way for new improved pools! What a joke. Management promised new pools at the beginning of the 2026 season. Opening came and went, no pools. Then Mgr said Memorial day. Nope no pool. It is now into June, and still no pools. Emailing management does nothing. The manager, Michael Slifer just ignores the emails and complaints. If you do get a response from him, it is "You can leave". He is running this place into the ground. We are on our sixth season as seasonal campers here, and we love it! Before we were seasonals, we tent camped, rented a cabin... did it all here! My kids have grown up here and still love coming down to enjoy the pool or hang with friends they have made over the years here. They've recently added a pickle ball court, along with other upgrades around the campground. People may complain that it's small, but we love that part of it! We love it here! read more

We have not had cable tv since Tuesday. They can't get Comcast to come back and fix what they undid on Tuesday. They say Comcast says "whenever". Under the new owners things seem to not get done on a timely basis. Or at all. read more

I recently visited here and it was amazing. They have fun games for the kiddos, two pools, cycling....you name it. It's also about 5 min from the beach. read more

If you chose to go to this lovely campground, (we had gone before, but split the bill and no one remembers all the extra charges) be prepared to open your wallet for EVERYTHING! Myself and 5 friends/ family (all girls) went to Avalon to tent camp. 2 sites with 2 tents each on them. Sites were a fair price, HOWEVER, they added $100 to my husband's credit card ( no permission) after we left for additional charges. $10 per night per third person, $5 per night per car, $10 per night per site for 2nd tent. They even charge for showers and internet!!!! They did send an email, but I was camping. And NOT checking emails! When hubs called he was LIED to and told all charges were explained all charges at sign in, ABSOLUTELY FALSE. Then he was rudely informed HIM and I HAVE A COMMUNICATION ISSUE!!!!! Really? Not at all. They got us,, we paid but they lost our business! I emailed after all the commotion and NEVER recieved a response. I will never go back. read more

The two reviews that gave this place a 5-star has clearly never been camping as long as I have. This is the worst campground that I've ever been to. It's TINY. The land is tiny and the spaces are tiny. They have nothing for kids to do there. There's a game room, which I didn't waste my time going in because it looked small from the outside. They have a baseball field, soccer "field" which is right beside it, along with a sandy volleyball court, a terrible basketball area and a playground with an outside gym to work out in - which nobody uses these days. It looked pretty new, they couldn't waste their money on something else? Each night I'd drive in late there is NEVER anybody sitting at the gate watching people come in? Thanks for your safety and concern. You're not allowed to have two cars in the spaces, we did anyway. If you think I'm walking from the front grass parking spot to my camper in the far back, you're out of your mind. You don't even have people watching at the gate, so who knows what could happen to my car at night. The campground right beside this one, had much more! It had two pools, a lake to swim in, and a tennis court. It looked much nicer than this one. It's such a boring area, so you NEED more things to do at a campsite. No need to bring your bikes because you can't ride bike to anywhere special. The road that this campsite is off does have a big shoulder for bikers, but WHERE ARE WE TO GO? Oh wait, I almost forgot the best part. I've never been to a campground where you have to PAY for a shower. Make sure you carry your quarters if you're pitching a tent. It's about 50 cents to get a good shower that lasts nearly 4 minutes. Get out of here with that. This is the worst, never again will we be back. read more

A wonderful campground situated off of Route 9 before you reach Avalon. The facilities are clean and the staff is very pleasant. It's a very family friendly place with plenty for the kids to do. The pool is nice and big. There is a minature golf course, basketball court, shuffleboard, horseshoe pits and a bocce court. There is also a game room. The sites are spacious and they accommodate tents and RVs. read more

Said something about having a pass but wasn't telling me how to get a visitors pass. Things haven't changed there. Don't waste your time spending your money there. Totally unprofessional. read more

We have been staying at this campground for 8 yrs now. We tried another one down the road to compare & it was a bust. Marley, her brother & the staff here, are a class act! We always get a house in the island at stone harbor for a week & then we bring our popup, throughout the rest of the summer here! Our kids feel like this is their second home! We also enjoy the little shops they have attached to their nursery garden store, right next to the campground. If you want a clean, safe & lots of things to do place for camping, this is the place to go down at the shore! This place is trash. I'm writing this at 2:00am because I can't sleep thanks to the inconsiderate neighbors from the campground next door who feel it is necessary to be blasting vulgar trap music this late. The campground map is deceiving, don't be fooled by the sites around the edge of the right side, you'd think it was surrounded by trees and forest but no--The space backs up against the campground next door. We are separated by a lovely chain link fence. The leaves weren't swept up from our campsite, and we already have had to tell multiple people to keep the noise level down. I'm all for some good music and a fun night but between the hours of 12am-3:00am when there are families trying to sleep? Not cool. We will never be returning here and wasting our money, time, sleep, and sanity like this again. Come here if you want to be frustrated and pay extra for stupid things like each family member over 18 and showers! read more

This was a bad experience! The sites are so small you are on top of each other. You are so close you share the same electrical outlet. You have to pay for showers. I was also not told that we would be surrounded by rude and inconsiderate campers. They were loud, obnoxious, and allowed their children to just run through your campsites. They stayed up all night slamming car doors and shouting. There was no number to call AT NIGHT to complain AND NO ONE AROUND. No security, etc. The office is run by children and every time you go in the office they claim there is no management around. I was told there is security at night but never is there anyone around so that's a lie. Never again, do not waste your time and money. I am completely disgusted. We will NEVER be coming back to Avalon campground again after this experience! We came down to celebrate my birthday, and paid $100 towards our stay before we arrived as per the campground rules. When we arrived, there was a campfire ban and that being one of the main reasons we booked the campground instead of a hotel room which would of been a lot more convenient (we have an 8 month old daughter) I politely asked for a refund so we could go elsewhere. I was given attitude as soon as we arrived and told no refunds. So I then asked for a discount due to the fact that we would only be using the cabin in which we rented for sleeping purposes, and was told that if the fire ban wasn't lifted, they would refund us $10 (insufficient). Seeing as they tied our hands, we could only accept and continued with our weekend, making the best of it. After seeing other sites with campfires on Saturday, we decided to have one on Sunday night. As soon as we lit the fire, the owner came up and rudely told us to put the fire out. I simply asked why, and told her that we've seen other sites with fires, which she denied and said she was going to call the police if it wasn't put out. Obviously we cancelled our plans for a fire. Inconsiderate and not worth the money! We've stayed at several campgrounds in the area and have NEVER been treated so disrespectfully until we came here. Thank you so much for ruining my birthday weekend by being rude and caring more about money than your guests. If you want a great campground, with many more amenities, and staff that actually treat their guests great, I suggest Ponderosa Campground right up the street. The cabins have fenced in porches for bugs, you don't have to pay to take a shower like at Avalon, and above all, if there is an issue, they will go above and beyond to fix it for you. This was my families first time at Avalon and it was awesome! They have 2 pools that they kept super clean and a little mushroom for kids to run under. The lifeguard even came around and handed out some pool toys to my daughters. The playground is also very spacious and well kept. The sites were a decent size and they come around everyday to get your trash which is such a great luxury that some campgrounds don't have. The activities they have for kids are super fun and the young gentleman who hosts them is very warm and welcoming to kids. My daughter got scared during a water balloon fight and he picked her up and helped her get some kids wet. Also, the front desk staff was super nice and helpful & knowledgeable. They even directed us to a beach we had never been to before to it was fabulous. It's a great location that's super close to the beach & boardwalk. I would recommend this campground to any and everyone and my family will absolutely be returning! read more

the arcade was totally outdated!! people were really rude and kept us up at night because they were being really loud and rude! there were very young teenagers working there and told us that people would be in the both at night and security would be driving around, but there wasn't! that is really a safety hazard. also the bathrooms were disgusting, pool was dirty, and the camp sights were on top of each other!! overall, i would not recommend going here. read more
