Not a character I would want to meet in the ocean. There is also a turtle rescue section with a few rescued turtles, very helpful volunteers, and an amazing interactive turtle rescue exhibit for kids where they get to diagnose, treat and release toy turtles. Outside there is a nature walk, a pier, and a fossil hunting station for the kids. All in all a fun time!

You have your choice of places down here to go, but I highly suggest coming here. We showed up and found out that there could be up to a 20 minute wait to proceed in line. With the staff telling us that up front, we appreciated that. There wasn't any misleading here. I really enjoyed they told us this and appreciated that. Even though you could tell the employees were uncomfortable having to keep saying it to every customer. What is unique about this is that even though you have to wait, there is a putting green in an area before the course starts. So even though you may not get to start your game as soon as you pay, you can still do a little putting. Then the course starts for you. Even though there area a ton of people, it flows. As the group ahead of you finishes a hole, you start. This happens for each hole. You are constantly moving. You ascend, you descend. You follow the footpath and arrows. The theming here is on point as well. The whole pirate theme is carried through nicely. Especially around the Jolly Roger. The water cannons simulating cannonballs being fired. The multiple waterfalls. Also keep your eyes open for some local history. Throughout the course there are informational plaques. Take a moment to read them. Also available is an arcade. Some items in the gift shop. And ice cream.

Shipmate Hailey takes all the photos and equips you with the go pro (worth the splurge!) and they capture the greatest moments. These memories will last a lifetime time! The Duck boardwalk has truly transformed since my last visit years and years ago. The boardwalk…read moreitself is nice, made of real wood and very beachy. It's lined with many types of businesses, clothing stores, beach souvenir shops, sit-down restaurants, and of course Duck Donuts. There's no limit on what you can do while on the boardwalk. The wildlife around is really cool to see - I saw three turtles perched on logs in just one short walk. The Ampitheater is clean and a fun place to enjoy shows hosted there. The boardwalk is a really great feature of the town that you have to take in when you're in OBX.
