This is such a great spot that deserves more attention and traffic! The portions are huge and the flavors are spectacular. The place is so nicely decorated and the staff is friendly. I've been wanting to try more Indian food, and they have a lunch buffet that's perfect for just that. All sorts of chicken dishes, vegetarian dishes, rices, dips and even desserts! Well worth it. If you don't have time to sit and enjoy, I've ordered food to go while popping into Trader Joe's or browsing through changing hands next door then picked it up. Give this place a try!! (Wish I took more/better photos, but I will next time)

*Restaurant is advertised as being a pan Asian restaurant - but this review is only for the Indian food/buffet. *Went here for lunch on a Saturday and opted for their lunch buffet which appears to be solely Indian food - which was delicious!! Decent selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options on the lunch buffet and every dish was yummy. Not to mention the fresh naan brought to the table. *Decor is casual chic *Service was attentive and polite * Price was darn reasonable for the quality and choices. *Located in a strip mall and so ample free parking * Indoor and shaded patio seating * Will be returning

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience deserves one because of how poorly the situation was handled. I ordered Ajwani Fish Tikka and Mutton Rogan Josh through Uber Eats (see attached receipt). Instead of the fish tikka I ordered, I received a whole fish (also attached). I understand some people enjoy whole fish, but I absolutely do not. The sight of an entire fish completely killed my appetite, and it was nothing like what I expected when ordering fish tikka. I called the restaurant expecting a simple apology and a solution. Instead, I was told they had actually sent me a fish that was worth about $20 more and that I should be happy because I received something more expensive. I repeatedly explained that this was never about the money. I didn't care if the replacement cost more. I ordered Ajwani Fish Tikka because that's what I wanted to eat. Receiving a more expensive dish doesn't make it the correct order. Rather than apologizing or trying to make things right, I was simply told to "talk to Uber Eats." When I pointed out that the restaurant was the one that prepared and sent the wrong item, the conversation became increasingly hostile. The most disappointing part was the owner's behavior. When I said I would leave an honest review based on my experience, he became extremely aggressive, yelling, "Who the hell do you think you are? Are you trying to threaten me?" I never threatened anyone. I simply said I would leave a review reflecting what had happened. Mistakes happen. Restaurants send out the wrong food sometimes, and I can understand that. What I cannot understand is treating a paying customer with disrespect instead of professionalism. The food mistake was disappointing. The customer service was unacceptable. I won't be ordering from Avasa again, and I hope this review encourages the management to treat future customers with more respect.

Craving indian and stuck with the classics. Garlic naan and butter chicken were on point and that's all you really need sometimes IYKYK. Chicken 65 was not what I expected but pleasantly surprised to see it on the menu! Been to South India (Bangalore) and this was a very different, saucy version of it. I'm no expert, it just wasn't what I was expecting so a little disappointed. Chicken dum biryani was among the more authentic versions I've had in the US and the spice will kick your butt like its supposed to. I would definitely come back if I lived closer!

Amazing Indian food, took my my her for dinner, didn't what to expect. Surprisingly, it's became my top 3 Indian restaurant in AZ. The ambiance was well done with a little modern touch. The service was friendly and attentive. My mom came back with my son the following week. BTW, must try the chili cheese naan.

When it comes to Avasa, you want to curry up and eat. Avasa is a solid AYCE spot with lots of great flavors and a good amount of offerings. They bring you naan bread to the table and you're off to feast. Try a little bit of everything to see what you like. $17.99 AYCE on weekdays from 11am-3pm. 18% gratuity added to parties five or more. Service was pretty mediocre. It's definitely the kind of place where you sit down, shut up, and eat.

Foodie Fact: The crowd pleaser Chicken Tikka Masala, a popular dish in India, is not actually from India. It was invented in Glasgow, Scotland. I'm not the most well-versed in Indian food but I definitely enjoy it whenever I get to eat it. Here at Avasa Pan Asian Cuisine, they have AYCE Indian buffet is served weekdays from 11am-3pm for $17.99. It's a great way to try a little bit of everything and you'll leave smelling amazing and with your tastebuds dancing. For a group of five, we were charged an instant 18% gratuity. And even with reservations, we were asked to leave because they had another reservation. That said, the service isn't the most friendly but the food is good. Just don't sit around having a conversation or they start pushing you towards the door. I wish I could give them 3.5 stars. 4 stars for food and 3 stars for service.

Sweet attentive service. Our place settings weren't all at the table but they got them to us. Very polite. Food was amazing!

I went here for the lunch buffet. It had a large variety of items, however, the only protein was chicken in a few dishes. All of your typical Indian lunch buffet specialties. They served naan with the buffet. Service was marginal and could be improved. Food was OK. I have been to a lot of Indian buffets in the valley and did not find this one as one of my favorites. I'm not sure I will return.

Avasa - Pan Asian Cuisine (Indian, Mediterranean, Thai & Indo-Chinese) 6430 S McClintock Dr, Tempe AZ 85283 AMBIANCE: The decor in this place is EXTREMELY nice and bougie. I love the green, wood and gold accents. It felt like a fancy restaurant. It was quiet when we went in for lunch, but mind you, we basically went when they just opened for the day (11am). They had a lunch buffet from 11am-3pm, which we all opted to do. The place was clean too. It definitely got a little busier as we sat and ate. FOOD: I personally liked the food at the lunch buffet. I wished they had more protein other than chicken, (Like lamb and goat) but the chicken curry and jalapeño chicken (that was crispy) was yummy. I felt the dishes were all pretty flavorful. The server informed us that on weekends they have lamb and goat and that on some random weekdays, they would have it as well. I love poppadom and felt it paired nicely with the raita, mint chutney, chicken briyani and curry offered. The daal was a tad bit watery though, for my taste. We ordered two dishes of plain naans to go with our meal (these were okay, I found them kind of bland honestly.) I wished they had Chai tea or mango lassi served at the buffet too, or more dessert options. SERVICE: Our server was extremely attentive, and always made sure to check on us often, as well as refill our water glasses. This was much appreciated! OVERALL THOUGHTS: We had a group of 5 so they charged us 18% auto-gratuity, so take note of that if you are going with a group. The server did not inform us of that (which I wish he did, cuz honestly otherwise it seems to me kinda shady) but we noticed it on the receipt. It was about $23 a person for 5 of us, which I didn't feel was too bad. I definitely ate too much (oops. ‍) I would Iove to come back on a weekend and try their lamb and goat dishes and maybe even some A la carte items. The food was good enough that I would return again.

I understand it's a relatively new place. I was however disappointed in the selections. No Chicken Tikka Masala or Butter Chicken. I was told by an Indian woman that this would indicate Avasa being a more Northern Indian spot. The food was good however. Fresh tasting and nice spice blends. I did however have to ask for Nan after I'd already eaten a whole plate of food. Three and a half stars. I'd give them another try.

FLAVOR. Indian food is one of my favorites, and this spot is definitely one of my go to's. Their lunch special buffet is great! My friend and I came on a Friday night and a band was playing! Service was great as well.

Dessert - Shahi Tukda on the left was too hard. The Gulab Jamun on the right was good.

Their garlic naan was awesome, and the Chicken Tikka Masala was wonderful. The portion size was just right. The true winner however was the Tandoori chicken. We did a half order of it, and decided next time we would do a full order and an order of the Butter chicken to split. The waiters and owners were very attentive, and it was a pleasant atmosphere on the inside. Parking is a bit tight out front but there is plenty of parking out back.

Our server was probably one of the worst servers I have ever had. Zero personality and literally never said one word to us. Several to go orders and Uber Eats people came in and out while we waited about 10 minutes. We finally told the man at the front desk that we needed to order and get some drinks. Server came over with his notepad and looked at us to take orders, didn't say a word. When he brought the dishes, a few minutes later, he literally plopped all of them in one spot in the table without making any attempt to remember which dish went to which person. Very odd behavior The dishes on the menu are clearly marked vegetarian, vegan or contains meat. We had two dishes that were supposed to be vegan, one was a saag dish which they had placed butter over the top of. It looked delicious to everyone, but the vegans who could not eat it. When we pointed it out, they made no attempt to offer us another dish and just said oh yes, that's ghee (clarified butter) we said the menu indicated it was vegan, but again no response. The two vegans at our table just decided rather than argue, they will share the rice dish, which was also indicated as vegan. As they started to eat it, they realized there were several pieces of paneer in it. I really hope this was a one off because this was one of my favorite places to eat Indian food. Very very disappointing and no accommodation for the inedible dishes.

However, when we came back so excited for more it was a weird experience here. We came at 5pm especially to try the banana Bajji listed as an option between 5pm-7pm only to be told it's not available. Then tried to order the Kara Kuzhambu with the lentil dumplings and told lentil dumplings not available anymore only okra/ eggplant option for this. The restaurant vibe felt really odd in general. We kind of felt like they weren't sure if they wanted to be open right now or something. The tables were not clean from lunch and they didn't get back to us when we asked questions. We decided to leave and come back another time given the great first experience. The next day, we decided to try again at lunch when the restaurant seems to do most of the business and I called to double check they have the Kara Kuzhambu with eggplant/ okra options just in case and two people seemed to have no idea what I am talking about. I spelled it, explained it's on the menu and it's a tamarind based curry- nothing. The dish I tried here before was very good and I really appreciate that their menu is marked for allergies and different diets. It seems to be very popular among Indian people and a fun cultural experience at weekend brunch/ lunch. However, the service felt really weird and unwelcoming this time and with the dishes listed on the menu but not being available it was a let down. The waiter told us the banana bajji and the lentil dumplings were discontinued completely so it was a bummer they are still listed on the menu. This confusing and unwelcoming exprience led to a big rating difference from me even though I really liked the food I tried in my first visit as well as the atmosphere. Still happy for that super fun first memory here though! My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out!
