I've been coming here consistently since 2017, for my hair; previously came here for pedicures and other services prior to 2017. Tati, short for Tatiana, did my retouch today. This is my only monthly appointment, I'm a busy working mom. (I'm overdue for a haircut but I get that done at another place.) Tatiana did a nice job, checked with her Educator, Miss Gil, and she suggested the little papers for my baby hair. Only three other students have used them. I always tell every student that it always stains. It's just the formula, tends to do that. Nice conversation. At the bowl, asked me for my shampoo preference, water temp, etc. Also asked if I would like a hand massage, and my oil preference, stress relief. Very nice. Smells good too. Blowdrying was very good. She did a great job. Tati asked me if I had a product preference, I like the heat protection spray and the hairspray. I wanted an upturn. It was very pretty. Recently I've been getting my roots colored and hair styled by Mia and it's done beautifully. Love all the instructional input by all the instructors, they are so helpful with taking care of your hair and hair styles. Can't leave out the amazing front desk, always on top of it and so nice! I had such a wonderful experience with Raven and Chloe! They did my leg and underarm waxing, and I genuinely could not have asked for a better appointment. From beginning to end, they were professional, friendly, patient, and made me feel completely comfortable. They were both extremely thorough and efficient, while still taking their time to make sure everything was done properly. I never felt rushed, and they paid attention to the little details--which I really appreciated. On Monday May 11 I visited the Aveda Institute for the 1st time. I was met by very warm reception and escorted to my technicians area. Ashlee greeted me and sat me at her station. I was there for a blow & curl. She was so patient and deliquite with me as I'm disabled and walk with an upright walker. Every step along the way she took the time to tell me first what she was about to do. She offered free 1st time services that were just wonderful and ones I'll consider paying for next time!!! I had my haircut done by Kat. She did not listen to what I asked for, messed up my face framing, and made it uneven. I asked for long layers with face framing and directly, repeatedly, throughout the session told her I wanted the shortest piece to be at my chin, no shorter. She did the layers fine but completely messed up the face framing. I left with wispy bangs I did not ask for which hit my cheekbone. It was uneven, the left side had a short chunk unblended from the rest of my hair and the right side had longer pieces in front of shorter pieces?? All of the reference photos I showed the student and instructor were of my previous haircuts and Pinterest photos clearly showing long face framing with the shortest piece swooping under/along the jawline... not bangs. I speak very clearly so I explicitly said what I do and don't want... the student cutting my hair had a comprehension issue. She also got the round brush stuck in my hair which sucked because my hair is fine so it's prone to fallout/breakage. I told her my hair is naturally 2b wavy/curly so that's why I only wanted two short pieces in front up to the chin because my length will shrink, but again, she did not listen. I just washed my hair and yup its short! Like forehead short. I honestly hate how it looks I don't even want to post photos of myself with it on here. After the haircut I cut it myself at home to make it even, and now all I can do is let it grow out for a couple months until it grows to the length I asked for. I've had great experiences here before with other student hairdressers but I will not be risking my hair like this again so I won't be going back to Aveda. read more

I went into this salon school with about an inch of stubborn grey grow-out on my roots and left feeling like a brunette/auburn goddess! My stylist, Marlene G., was ultra gentle and my visit was relaxing, which I have never experienced at a hair school before (and I've been to several). Marlene gave me a scalp wash that was luxurious. She matched and covered my roots perfectly, and the tone is exactly the rich red/violet color I was hoping for. For a hair school, this experience felt spa-like. I am so happy I came in to get my haircut today. Michelle Gomez was the student and Gilda was the instructor assigned to me. I asked for a couple of inches off to get rid of my split ends, layers starting from my shoulders and bangs that frame my face. Michelle started by washing my hair and giving me the best head massage that I've had here! It felt like the ones I've gotten while getting my hair washed at the actual Aveda Salons! Where do I even start my experience was absolutely amazing. We had an appointment yesterday at 3 o'clock to get my son's first haircut, he is 7 and wanted to donate his hair. From the time we walked in I knew we had chosen the right place because the vibe was very welcoming the receptionist was very sweet. When it came time for my sons haircut a young lady by the name of Sam introduced herself and told us she would be cutting my sons hair. Sam and her instructor Jasmine were beyond amazing they made his first experience getting a haircut the best it could have ever been truly. I highly recommend Sam as she took her time and really listened to what we wanted his first cut to look like. My son smiled the whole time and was so thankful to both Sam and Jasmine. My son donated his hair and because he did he received a free haircut. We will for sure be going back again. read more
