It's the kind of range where you can learn something every time you show up, whether it's from the crew or from the shooters around you. The outdoor setup is what makes this place special. Wide lanes, plenty of space, and a layout that gives you room to breathe. On busy weekends, it fills up fast, but there are also days where you practically have the whole range to yourself. That balance is rare. I did run into one issue with the self‑resetting steel targets. When you pull the rope, the bar that's supposed to drop the targets back down sometimes stays up, which means you end up shooting a target that never resets. Not a dealbreaker, but something worth noting. When I mentioned it to a staff member on my way out, they told me they're already working on changes and improvements, possibly adding new features as well. Good to hear they're staying on top of things. One thing I've always appreciated is the variety of classes they offer. You can sign up for everything from intro competition shooting to pistol optic fundamentals and, most importantly, CCW courses. It's a range that doesn't just give you a place to shoot, it gives you a place to grow. Rankin Field is still the outdoor range I recommend in the Central Valley. Good staff, good space, and a commitment to improving what they already have. I'm looking forward to seeing what updates they roll out next.

Within an hour, all four of us had our pigs. Once the pigs were gutted and stripped, we went over for dinner with Jeremy and his family. Fantastic food for all, cooked by Jeremy and his family. Then into the bar for drinks and pool. A fantastic experience with everybody. The cabin was clean and well kept, everything you needed. Jim took us to ponchos ranch Saturday morning and we got to see some fantastic views and wildlife. I strongly suggest you try this place. Great people, great food and Fantastic hunting. During my visit, I noticed how helpful they were to other groups of varying skill level with a variety of handguns and rifles. My experience with King Gun Center was fantastic, the guy i spoke to, to rent my guns out i don't remember his name, he had glasses maybe, but he was so nice, very informative and kind, he understood it was my first time holding a handgun let alone shooting it and helped me adjust around 4 times, that's patience right there. the value is honestly better than expected, it was 2x entry fees, 1x lane fee, 2 gun rentals and 100rnds of 9mm. for 123 dollars, that's not bad in any sense, for a good 2 hours of good shooting i'd say it's a pretty decent ask. the only downsides were the lanes are humid, you'll definitely break a couple sweats while shooting, and that the guns for rent definitely need a little juice as the slides are stubborn from being a little dry, other than the fact that i had only one malfunction i doubt it's a big issue. i had fun, learned a lot and had good convos about guns and everything that has to do with em. i hope i have an experience like that again.
