I live 2 hrs away from this shop (unfortunately no Vespa shop in Hattiesburg). I spoke at least twice with someone in the shop before I brought my scooter. I explained them what the problem was and was told to bring it in. So I did. Few days later the shop called me and said we don't want to be "liable for any missing parts and we can't look at " What ?? I told them that I wouldn't keep them liable ror anything since their shop was my last hope to get this scooter going. The owner said it was going to cost at least $1,000 to fix it. (Mind the scooter costs 2K). The owner was worried more about reviews, then even trying to help, taking into consideration I brought it from another state and spent the whole day , Unprofessional. Look for another place where they would care and at least would try to fix your problem. (especially when I was ready to pay for their service no matter what). Disappointing experience to say the least. read more

Bravo to Meredith Tay and the entire staff at Avenue Scooters. This is THE way to see New Orleans! I rented a Buddy 50cc scooter for 2 days last week and had a BLAST riding all over the city. I found the streetcars in New Orleans, while historical and quaint, are not really a reliable way of getting around. A scooter was absolutely the solution! I rode all over, from City Park to Baywater, Uptown to Audubon Park, and of course the French Quarter. For $80 a day it was a great deal. The scooter I had was in excellent condition (see picture). It came with a Kryptonite U-Lock, locking cable, and a helmet (required in Louisiana). I stopped in the shop on my second day and Meredith filled up the gas tank for no extra charge. Not scooter related, however these are good people. I had an incident with my car and was broken down across the street. The splash guard had fallen off and I had driven over it. It was partially hanging but due to being bolted one one side still, I could not simply just rip it off. I walked over to Avenue Scooters and Merideth was there. I explained my situation and she happily loaned me some tools that enabled me to get my car back on the road. We walked around and then left. I decided to visit Avenue Scooters on St.Charles Ave. The moment we walked in we were greeted by Nicole. She was a blast! She is knowledgeable, polite and friendly. In fact, while we talked to her I noticed it was similar to speaking with a friend. She asked questions to get a feel of what we were looking for in a scooter. She recommended a bike similar to her own. She delved into her vast knowledge about the bike. I asked several questions and felt comfortable asking really any type of question even something simple. She was never pushy or overbearing. Honestly, she was just awesome. She asked if I ever drove a scooter and I let her know I hadn't. She immediately asked did I want to test drive a rental. She took time to explain everything that I needed to know. It was AWESOME! The scooter, a Lance Havana, was fantastic! I was totally sold! Then she remembered my like of hybrid look. She lit up and stated you need to see the "Cali"! It was so fresh looking. It was everything I wanted and it looks amazing! Nicole was the reason for me walking out with a Lance Cali. Avenue Scooters is new, but they're amazing. When I screwed up my scooter, I talked to Hoang on the phone (who is awesomely patient), and he helped talk me through some diagnostics. I wound up having to bring the scooter in, and they were pretty booked up and wouldn't be able to look at my scooter until the next day. But- surprise- I got a call later that afternoon that they had gotten to it and I could come get it. Also it only cost me like $50... BLESS. The best part is that a few weeks later, my scooter wouldn't even turn over. I thought the battery was dead, and was about to buy a new one. But Hoang basically hung out and showed me some stuff, and helped ME to diagnose and fix the problem- just a blown fuse. That's pretty unusually rad. Do not bring your scooter here for service. It took them 7 months to fix mine, and they kept telling me they had to order more parts. I have never heard that it takes 7 months for an authorized dealer to order parts. I stopped by on multiple occasions and my scooter sat in pieces for a few months, and that was after it took them a couple months to even look at it and order the parts. Avenue Scooters lies and steals your money by doing so. I went to the scooter company that they bought out (Big Easy Scooters) and always loved their service and honesty. Ever since Avenue Scooters opened, everything has changed. They lie about service estimates. They diagnose problems incorrectly. They are consistently rude and condescending. Recently, they "fixed" a problem on my scooter and three days later the part that they fixed broke about 10 miles from my house. I called them and they denied all responsibility before even seeing the scooter! Beyond that, they were extremely rude even though I was stuck on the side of the road in an unsafe area about 10 miles from my home. I was stuck for 3 hours. They never apologized and denied responsibility even though another shop gave a second opinion that said their work was to blame. I asked them for a rental scooter and the man working the front desk said "Not our problem man, $95/day. Take it or leave it." Then, he hung up the phone on me. Consistently, they are everything you don't want in a repair shop. I leave every time feeling incredibly frustrated and disrespected. I long for the day that they go out of business. I can't say enough about how terrible this place is. Don't give them even one dollar. read more

Hoang takes the time to explain the work to be done and provides you with a fair estimate. Any work Avenue Scooters performed on my Kymco People scooter was always done efficiently and with care. I truly feel like I have become part of a community through Hoang and Harris, it's not just another shop. New Orleans is a perfect city to rent a scooter. The traffic is manageable, it's small enough to navigate to most places and go through known parts to get there. So many people go to Nola and stay in the French quarter/downtown area the whole time. Taking a scooter for the day down St. Charles, going to the Audubon/zoo and coming back down magazine street. Going around the garden district and WW2 museum, then having the option to go back downtown and head to the city museum and parks in the northern part of the city. It's a great way to see a ton of the city without ubering everywhere. Plus, if you don't like something, you just leave and don't regret spending the money for a ride. We stopped for 10 minutes at one of the St. Louis cemeteries and it wasn't for us, so much easier to pull the plug when we had transportation ready and don't feel invested by the cab/Uber rides to get there. The best part about renting scooters in Nola is that you can access some great neighborhood restaurants that you wouldn't normally go to. The one gripe about Avenue scooters was they told me the shop closed half an hour after it did. Luckily I returned it early but I was knocking on the door to have them let me in. It worked out though and they were easy to deal with read more

I previously posted this to big easy scooters site but it is actually Avenue Scooters we rented from! Super nice people, reasonable rates and 4 of us had so much fun scooting around New Orleans. That was one of the greatest ideas ever. We had the jazzy passes for trolly etc. Driving around there in a car I know from past experience is a nightmare and parking is non existent so we really got to see a lot of things and places we never would have without them. I was sure we would go around the block and the guy would say you, you and you can go but we aren't renting you one. LOL I had never ridden anything so small! Felt squirrelly at first but got the drift fast and highly recommend renting Buddy 50's for a day to scoot around on. I shouldn't mention this because I love my Harley but riding these is when you find out just how snobby other riders can be. We had one Harley rider trying to lose us in traffic so he wasn't seen with a pack of bumble bees. read more
