So with that my daughter, 16, decided she wanted to do it. I took her up there and was setting up her billing and was told her first two sessions were free then if she decides a to join then her membership would start. I then was told they would combine the two account. I offered to pay for her prorated membership on the spot and the lady point blank told me don't worry about we only bill on the first of every month so on Oct 1 thats when I would be billed her prorated amount. Now I've ran a business for over 10 years, banking for 5, and even managed a gym for years, so billing and payments for a service based business you always pay in advance. So needless to say I questioned her multiple times and she continued to confirmed so I just went on with my business. Today they tried to debit my card for her prorated amount and it decline because I use one credit card for my bills to prevent unauthorized charges so I only put on there monthly what my bills equal hence for situations like this. So all of that is no big deal people are human they make mistakes I even told her no big deal she can go ahead and charge me should've been end of conversation however the lady then with an attitude told me that there's no way I was told what I was told. I was shocked. I said so you're basically calling me a liar. Business 101 never call a customer a liar especially when they agree to pay you. Even if you truly belive there was a miscommunication or I was lying you don't tell your custome that. You apologize for the misunderstanding and that you will have a conversation with your employee to ensure this doesn't happen again. Now you have a happy and paying new customer and you get your money. Instead I told her to cancel my whole family's account and we won't be back! Unreal!

But you must pay up front for the privet lessons so you will be ready for the group lessons. Then the trainer cancels and doesn't show up for the privet lessons. Also doesn't return calls or texts. When I expressed my concern they told me it was because of....... (wait for it)........Covid. This "Covid" excuse occurred today, (July 6th 2022) for calls/texts not returned and lessons that were canceled within the last couple of months. The owner also humiliated me and told me to leave when I told him his "Covid" excuse" was dubious. I'm much older than the average age. "athlete" there. He said he'd give me my money back. I can only pray. With his way of thinking this is doubtful. They most likely will keep much more money than they should. Stay away unless your willing to go along with every arrogant extra charge and lack of follow through they dish out. If you attempt to hold them responsible for what they promise and what you pay for, they will be difficult. Especially if you are an older out of shape women like me. XFit is supposed to be nice and good and sweet and accepting. This place just wants your money, or in my case just wants my money and doesn't want to follow through with what I pay for. Or will actually kick me out when I try to hold them accountable. They want your money and don't want to give you what you pay for and then they want to blame you for trying to get what you pay for. And still still, it's all because of .... COVID.

The small details like already having the workout squares set up before class starts, or the very welcoming Coaches paired with a gym that is immaculate makes for an experience that makes you want to come back. I've dropped into many boxes in the states and this is definitely one of the best ones I've visited. The gym was always clean and their equipment is in great shape. Beware if you are a chalk monster though, the gym was so clean I was afraid to use any chalk haha. The people were always nice and welcoming which is a big deal for me. The coaches were awesome! They did a great job explaining the WODs, giving scaling options and target ranges of where you should be in the workout depending on skill level. Overall, one of the best boxes I've dropped in to. I was helped by Annie and she was very helpful, informative and friendly. She gave me the membership application, and other flyers for different programs they offer. She even gave me a folder to put all the forms in--very thoughtful. There is free WiFi, a Kids Zone, and plenty of parking. I believe they are also in the process of expanding which is definitely a good idea. Will do another update the next time I come in.

The worst "Y" in the NW Florida area. They send out surveys to ask you your opinion of their…read moreservices etc. and when you answer honestly and state your concerns you receive a snide and condescending email from the so called "director" Autumn Navarro. I stated my concerns regarding class crowding and unsafe practices by members that appear to have some form of emotional troubles or neurological issues. For that crime I was lectured on how I need to be more "patient" with other members as each individual is on their own "fitness journey". Additionally, she went on to state that there were no crowding issues because the classes (according to her) can fit more than what they don't actually have room for currently. I am sure she is not concerned about crowding because the more people they squeeze into a small room the better reflection on her and her poor management of the Navarre Branch. Basically via her snide and condescending email message she was telling me she has no regard for my concern as they relate to members and if I don't like it, I can go elsewhere because as far as she is concerned she doesn't want any negative feedback to reflect on her and her inability to manage group classes. Avoid this branch and attend at Gulf Breeze or Pensacola. Finally, this gym is dirty as well. The only cleaning of equipment is done by the class participants.

After the warm up fun we went through some great Snatch progression to ensure that our class was on point with with our form. I'm always happy to cover the ins and outs of lifts that we will be doing in our workouts; performing these drills makes me realize that for so many years I've been lifting all wrong and with no true guidance. Jacks hospitality was top notch and only surpassed by his coaching ability I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in town. I highly suggest that if you are interested in becoming a healthier better "you" that you make Crossfit Above the Bar your first stop.

Crossfit Above The Bar was the only one of three gyms that I called and/or emailed that actually contacted me back. So they were the winner and I'm feeling really lucky that's where I ended up because it was such a great experience. Jack greeted me and got me set up quickly, then introduced me to Gabby and asked her to pair up with me and show me around. It was Saturday so we did a team WOD and it was a great workout. Everyone at this gym was so friendly and hospitable... I can't say enough about how great they were. Sometimes it can be a challenge just to walk into a box and feel like you're part of the crew, but that was not the case. From now on, when I'm in town visiting family I will make Crossfit Above the Bar my gym away from home.

I haven't had a chance to become a CrossFit disciple yet, so I figured I'd leave a review. Please, ladies, do not feel intimidated to try this gym. From the moment I walked through the door, the gym owners were asking me about my expectations, goals, and comfort level. Not only did I leave this gym stronger--like, I actually could feel my hamstrings and glutes firing after one adjustment from my coach--I felt genuinely heard. I spoke to several of the women in passing, and each one gave me a friendly smile. Also, I was amazed to see that all four kiddos--all safely strapped into strollers and watching from the lobby--stayed content through the workout. I am not a mom, but I was impressed! Also, I hope that the sweet boy I met today is not the one being bullied by a grown woman on Yelp. He was very respectful while his mom was speaking to me, obedient when she asked him to wait a moment before unbuckling him from his stroller, and answered all my questions about his favorite dinosaurs articulately. I am excited and hopeful about calling this my home gym!

I was 250lbs, out of shape and very self conscious about my weight. I had exercised most of my life but my schedule got busy and my exercise time took a seat on the back burner. I was in desperate need of some reconditioning. After my first class I was hooked. Seth (owner) is amazing at what he does. He made me feel part of the group, motivated and excited me about getting back into shape. My results were unbelievably fast. I do three 45 minute classes a week, that is it!
