I love this place and always find gifts. It's a little pricey, but the items are very unique and nice quality. But I must say, the owner and the other women working there are extremely unfriendly and don't always say thank you. I go in there often and in a short period of time I will spend a fair amount of money, but I don't always get a thank you or or much friendliness. It's a shame because it's a nice, local store. I'll continue to go there, but just thought I would give some feedback. read more

If I could give this store a zero, I would. The problem is not the store itself- the store is very cute and has a lot of nice merchandise. The issue is the ladies working in there. They were very unfriendly and just all around miserable. This was my first time in and I was there with one of the kids I work with and his babysitter. He was buying a present for his mom. He did very well and had great behavior in the store. No one greeted us or even looked at us when we entered, much less asked if we were looking for anything. There were no other customers in the store. I initiated a hi and got no response. They wrapped the gift (which was nice). After we purchased our items and I paid, there was no interaction, no thank you, nothing. I had to ask if the bag to the side was mine, and was told yes. After we left, I went back inside and told them that I wanted to mention how unfriendly they were, just so they were aware for future customers. They both just stared at me blankly and said nothing, so I left. I will not be going there again. Good luck to them! Also, the older of the 2 ladies seemed to be the owner, which makes this experience even more unacceptable! read more

I feel guilty not giving Avery & Co 5 stars because this store has saved my hide more than a few times. The best thing it has going for it (and this really is a GREAT thing) is its hours of operation. It opens at 8 a.m.! -- which means I can drop the kids off at school, grab a cup of coffee at Starbucks a few doors down from Avery, and pick up a last minute gift, all before sitting down to work. Not only does Avery & Co have a suitable gift for just about any age, but they have a nice selection of cards. There's a pretty good assortment of gift items -- clothing, jewelry, toys, soaps, decorative items... and they do a lovely job gift wrapping. So why don't I give it 5 stars?? It's just not my go-to place. I find the things in the store pretty uninspired. It's all pretty safe --all stuff I've seen elsewhere. There's nothing wrong with that, I'd just like to be surprised and feel like I'm buying something truly special. But if I'm out of time, and I need a gift fast, I know I can count on finding something at Avery & Co. read more

This shop has nice merchandise, and fair prices. I only give it 3 stars, because I've gone in several times to buy gift items for birthdays, and the owner/associate has never been friendly. I've never been greeted upon entering (which on its own wouldn't bother me) and she has talked to other staff while ringing up my items, or just not said anything, aside from what I owe/will receive in change. It's discouraging, since I love to shop small and local, but it's just turned me off of this store one too many times. read more

Location makes parking hard! This shop should be in Nantucket or Newport Rhode Island! Not enough variety for everyone! Gift items do not fit all age groups! Staff is friendly to a certain group of people! Not a friendly group of people! No one suggests gift ideas to people! Items are not displayed in a manner that makes you want to look around! Chris, the shop owner, is a clever and thoughtful buyer. One foot inside her store tells you she has spent a lot of time sourcing her product. Popular items as well as hard-to-find and the unusual adorn her shop. Definitely a store with something for every occasion, from a baby shower to the hostess you hardly know (and may never meet again). such a fabulous shop with so many cool and unique things to purchase! i loooove the jewelry and home decor - they even have kids' toys/trinkets. i'm so glad i live nearby because i love checking in often to see what's new in the store. everything seems to be selected with thought and care and customers really appreciate that. read more

I recently discovered this shop and I have enjoyed stopping in here for some nice gifts and jewelry, but I just had an experience with the owner of the shop that was disappointing to say the least. I had purchased a lovely gift for my mother in law earlier this week, but unfortunately had to return it for reasons beyond my control. They had wrapped it in a white box and loosely tied ribbon. Nice touch, but no wrapping paper and not a ton of effort involved. When I told her I needed to return it, she rudely replied "oh, I hate when people return things that we've wrapped for them." Then went on to say how they put all this effort into the wrapping... trailing off on the rest of her commentary but at that point the damage was done. I will think twice about returning to this store and that's unfortunate because I like to give small businesses my business and I have enjoyed shopping here. In just the past 2 months since discovering this shop, I've spent over $400 here. To the owner, please think about what you say in front of your customers. You're in a customer service industry and the only way you get loyal customers is by treating them right. read more

Not only does this store have great and uncommon gift items for babies through grown-ups, they are open at 8am on weekdays! The owner, herself a working mom, understands that women, in particular, appreciate being able to get gift shopping down before work. I absolutely loved being able to pick up a baby gift at 8:05am for a 9:30am meeting with a friend who just had a kid. Kudos, Avery & Company! And thanks for being so clued-in!
