Especially around the holidays, this store is a gem because it's never congested like Toys R Us can be sometimes and the staff are personable, kind, and actually knowledgeable about the items they sell. Sometimes you'll be even lucky to find someone working at Toys R Us! Now, the selection here in comparison to Toys R Us is definitely different. This is a smaller store and therefore, much less incapable to hold the excess of toys that are able to be held by the larger chains. Plus, any independent business is smaller so service can be supreme, and so that they can actually survive. I hope there never becomes a day when all the small, independent stores are gone, because having this place around makes Christmas and birthday shopping very easy and much less hectic. Organized, not overpriced and ideal for any parent to do shopping for their kids or gifting for others at. While this probably should be a five star review, the Newton location does seem to always have a little more of exactly the stuff I'm looking for... and for that only, minus one star. Didn't really deliver. Lego with all sorts of cobranded Disney movies but no just... Lego. A staff that wasn't very helpful in knowing whether a game was a deck building game or strategy game. Those old school little balsa wood planes? Drones I seem to see everywhere? Nah, none of that. Oh well, just hard to really do physical retail when literally every thing and every piece of information is in a browser. They came up in conversation as having some sort of Pokemon night. Sounds neat so I checked the web site. There's literally no information. So I called the store. And got a recording or phone tree or something that's not very helpful. Not really looking for cobranded marketing doofers. Not really looking for "STEM" lazily slapped onto schlock.

I bought it and I didn't notice this until I got home, but the item I chose got swapped by the clerk since I looked down and was getting ready to pay on my phone. I got extremely disappointed after noticing the switch after opening the item that it made my day sad. Clerk was a long black-haired chick who tied her hair up, skinny, probably 5'4'' with glasses. I know this is petty, but I was really upset and disappointed. She clearly wanted the one I chose, but knew she couldn't buy until probably after the shift. To all the shoppers there, watch your boxes/gatchapon from the clerk who may switch it out. Mind you, this is my first time experiencing such a thing that happened and I've shopped there so many times, but nothing like that has ever happened.

Blue Bunny Books is easily one of my favorite locations to walk to and hang out. They really have something for everyone here. My boyfriend, who is more of a tea than a coffee person, hasn't found any complaints when trying their drinks (and he may be as much of a drink critic as I am). If you have kids, Blue Bunny also does creative and fun events to engage and involve your little ones in some much-needed book-themed fun. With our family expecting our first baby, we're beyond thrilled to bring her over to Blue Bunny's events, no matter how old she is. Blue Bunny is such a staple to the Dedham community, and I will always enjoy going back for some yummy coffees and good books.

They don't sell matchbox cars or whatever the latest kid craze is, but instead ones that promote learning & education. They do sell simply fun toys as well, but they are much more creative than the typical ones you see in the regular stores. So anytime I buy toys for my cousins' children for the holidays or birthdays or whatever I always come here! Also they are a locally owned business so its nice to know your supporting a real person not some giant corporation.
