Had some problem with my suv for the longest!!! My husband has some experience with cars & based on what he thought was wrong with it, he estimated that we would need over 2k for repairs! I heard of Avery's from local partnerships around town-- so I finally bit the bullet and called to bring my car in for repairs... I don't remember 100% but I think we were quoted around 1600 for repairs? Anyhow, after my car was completed, the total was a lot less than what was quoted over the phone. I was extremely impressed, not to mention, my car no longer sounded like it was shooting bullets everytime I stepped on the gas pedal I would truly recommend Avery's! Jim and crew are always friendly and educational. They don't try and oversell stuff you don't need. If I could do half a star I would I went there for a new timing chain in a 2011 Chevy equinox and they kept it for a few days and said I needed a new engine for $7000 so I had it towed out and fixed it myself which they didn't even take apart to look at it was either laziness or just not real mechanics my timing chain was not snapped I just needed new guides but I replaced the guides and chain only cost me $100 it's very unprofessional don't recommend bringing your car there read more

Several trusted friends recommended Jim Avery to me when I was looking for a new mechanic to do the unusual service work on my vehicles that I don't care to tackle myself. Since I'm very picky about who works on my cars, it took me quite awhile to settle on someone new (my previous place was forced out of business by Chrysler). I can tell you that I am 100% confident that Jim is a honest and knowledgeable. I used to like taking my vehicles here. I think they do good work at a fair price, but...one time the mechanic who worked on my Jeep complained so much and said he never wanted to work on it again. Ok fine. I have two other vehicles you won't have work on ever again also. read more

It took a couple of weeks to get in but it was well worth the wait. Initially had an issue with electric drivers seat had previously taken it to a Chevy dealer who said it couldn't be fixed. They were able to fix it. I needed breaks all around and asked them to detail it. Very pleasant and courteous employees. Will definitely be using them again when needed and highly recommend them. read more

I recently saw an ad for a vehicle I had been looking for. On paper, it met my criteria plus it is 15 miles from my home. It was priced fairly. I called and was told I would be the first person they would contact when it was ready. That was almost three weeks ago. I have followed up a half dozen times and was told once they we're fixing radio. After that, nothing. The vehicle is still being advertised today which only leads me to believe that they either sold it to someone else or it was a bait and switch. Either way, I would encourage anyone to stay clear of this place. I will update this post if I get some positive explanation but I've given up hope for most part and will make sure I tell others I know about this experience. read more

I have gone to Avery Auto repair several times and have always been blown away by his awesome customer service. We will continue to trust Averys with our vechiles when we are in Michigan. I contacted Jim to inspect a car that I was interested in purchasing. The problem was that I lived in Madison, WI and the car was in Lapeer, MI. Jim provided me with an honest and full inspection of the vehicle. He was clear with what worked well with the car and the areas of the car that did not work and would need to be repaired or replaced. I've gone to Avery twice now. The first time was car was idling bad and window motor needed replacing. Got the car back and the power window switch was broken and popped out of it's holder. Two weeks later the car started idling bad again. About a year later I went to Avery, my car's engine had a miss in it. He told me I had a weak cylinder and would need another motor. First he tried to sell me a used cop car he had sitting in his lot for $2,000 and then he said he could get a used motor out of junk yard for $1,500 and sent me on my way, car chugging along. I took the car to a place called Jim's Auto in Millington and he replaced a $50 coil and the car's been running fine ever since. I called Avery and told him and he said he didn't work on my car personally and that he'd make it right. How he can make it right, I don't know. He didn't offer to send me a check. Getting to Lapeer during the week for me is almost impossible and he is closed on the weekend. It was very difficult to drop my car off and pick it up in the first place. I will not go to him again unless he's the last mechanic around. read more
