Please understand that I don't know much about other similar providers, but I will share my thoughts about the care provided for my two children over the years. When we needed braces for our son, the name we were given was Dr. Kemp. He is the definition of local legend, and he's earned those accolades the hard way: He created a superior practice and provides amazing care for patients and family alike. Dr. Hall is the other heavy hitter in the office. Impressive in all ways, working with skill and compassion. If you're like me, environment plays a huge role in experience. Their office is spotless, smartly decorated, and inviting. More importantly, the office staff provides exceptional customer care. You lnow you're in good hands with this team, which speaks to the quality and thought given to hiring practices. Finally, and most importantly, I can boil down my experiences here to one word: Trust. I whole-heartedly entrust my children's care in this field to Arlington Orthodontics and Dentistry. Whether you call them 4 times to reschedule or walk in they always greet you the same, with kindness and with warmth. Nicole is one of my favorites at the front desk. All the ortho docs are insanely awesome, there simply is no better place. All the staff also is great at what they do. But now Dr. Kaplin is saying we need to extract all 4 bottom baby teeth, 2 upper baby teeth and 2 upper adult teeth all at once! Then he can start the braces for my daughter. When we mentioned that that was not what we discussed previously, his tone changed and started becoming rude and snappy and seemed annoyed by us. "I don't think we are on the same page here. I'm hearing a lot about baby teeth but I'm not concerned about that"

My teeth had moved and I had to seek treatment with the new practice. Timing and service went as well as could be expected during Covid restrictions. However, as I had my final visit I questioned the slight overbite that resulted, which I'd not had before. The response I got from Dr Nakfoor was cocky and condescending, asking if I'd rather have had the gap in my teeth. An honest practitioner would have approached me differently from the start, knowing that an adult could handle an explanation that favored the lesser of the two evils. At least I'd have been prepared for the eventual outcome. Word to the wise, seek a well-recommended small practice to use and not one based on an overinflated ego.

The staff in the back, however, I do have a complaint about. Some of the staff is extremely friendly / nice / helpful, however, a good number of them (at least what I've noticed each time I sit with my daughter as her braces are tightened) are more worried about chit chatting to one another and to what music is being played than they are to actually paying attention to the patient. The last time I went in with her the woman that was putting a bracket in didn't seem to know what she was doing, after several failed attempts, she finally asked someone else to step over and help. The gentleman she asked was able to put the bracket in quickly. The point is that my daughter's mouth was extremely sore(from this), to the point she couldn't eat anything, only jello for the next several days. Just glad that she's almost done and will have them removed in a few short months. Also, the appointment times are somewhat limited. I work full time and my daughter is in highschool. Each and every visit, i'm having to pull her from school early so she's missing classes each appointment she has. I'm never able to get anything around or after 4pm.

Each step was explained thoroughly, with plenty of time for questions. Dr DeGroot followed up with me after each procedure, and made sure I was healing with no complications. They expect children to be pulled out of class for routine appointments. They're only open every other Saturday, and those slots fill so fast they're basically unusable. The practice is completely unaccommodating and has an arrogant attitude about it. To make matters worse, both of my kids were told they'd have braces for about a year, and in both cases treatment lasted nearly twice as long. Either they're very bad at estimating timelines or they're not being honest up front--neither is acceptable. It also feels like unnecessary adjustments are made just to undo them at the next visit. My dentist was surprised by how uneven my daughter's teeth still are. Overall, this place feels difficult, poorly managed, and questionable. Not recommended.
