Breakfast sandwiches and juice included with the free continental breakfast

This wasn't a first choice, but everything else nearby was booked. So straight up. The rooms are small, even for a budget hotel. This is definitely more of a place to get rest for the night than lounge around. There's not really anywhere to lounge in your room anyway except in the bed and in this weird little cutout seat. The mattress is average, not poofy or cloud-like. Really, the accommodations are fine if you are driving through Beaumont or just need a place to sleep. The bathroom towel rack half fell while I was putting a towel on it. Shower was fine and water pressure was great. The shampoo dispenser was just about out of product. On the upside, there was plenty of parking, and the included continental breakfast in the lounge included yogurt, muffins, and even three kinds of Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches. Plus they had Nutella for the bagels...yum. The seat cushion could use some stain removal though. I don't recommend fabric for that reason.

I needed a place to stay so I could tour apartments. This is a nice place to stay for a short visit. My room was nice. The bed is comfortable. They have a complimentary breakfast and it's close to restaurants. I didn't get out since there was a torrential downpour the night I checked in. I would recommend staying here if you're looking for a comfortable place to sleep.

I read the other few reviews on here and as unfortunate as their experiences were, my family and I had a pretty good experience here. You can tell this hotel is newly built. It has such a modern vibe. Everything is clean and new. We got to our room and although the room was very clean, it was extremely small. These rooms are definitely for just one person or a couple. Definitely not meant for kids or pets at all. I'm glad they are family and pet friendly but if you do have kids and pets, try to find another hotel. The floors also need to be mopped or something because they were dirtyyyyy. I'm sure they vacuume the floors but there needs to be more done especially since they're hard floors and it's during covid. I also love how they have nice hygiene products and not the cheap smelling ones. Shout out to D. Shaunice for a clean room! Check in and check out was fairly quick. The staff at the front DONT wear masks which makes me question if they're really taking precautions for covid. Friendly staff but they are constantly on their phones. Which I don't mind as much as long as customers don't need help. But I could see how it could bother others. Breakfast was fine; they provided a grab and go and seating was open. Overall, our experience was nice and I am glad we chose this hotel to stay at for our cross country road trip.

Fist time here - staff was pleasant. Room seems pretty clean but the floor feels a little grimey. The ac thermostat on wall doesn't seem to work in conjunction with the window unit. I really like how many hooks they have to hang your bags and clothing .. but for a room with 3 people - there's only a total of one chair in the room. Good thing I needed to sort some stuff out and wanted to lay down - but the other two roomies didn't... so no chair for one of them. Tiny mini fridge - didnt seem very cold. No adjustments - hope my stuff is still cold in the morning. No keurig/coffee maker/no microwave in room. But they did have free average coffee down stairs. Did not see any bugs of any kind. Overall clean hotel. Not smelly & sheets looked clean. Good price-would stay again. Update : the mini fridge wound up being ice cold! It was great overnight - and btw - we do not travel much (we are going to out of state wedding) ... our next town/hotel tonight ... is older and no where near as nice !! I'm thinking the Avid has one of my favorite features ....all those hooks to hang out bags!! Missing that tonight !

My room was quite small. No coffee maker in the room. Clean, new hotel.

You can choose which room to stay in and my husband and I chose the "Steampunk Room." The room was located in a tower apart from the house. It was so cool! Inside the giant living room is a 2 and 1/2 story wood ceiling and it reminds me of the inside of a mountain lodge. We stayed in a separate three-story building on the top floor in the Steampunk Room. It was so cool. There were all these Steampunk relics and other period pieces. They have five rooms and every one has a different theme. There's a really nice pool, plenty of decks and a small lake. It also serves as a great wedding venue for a small to medium size wedding. Stacie and Dave are the warmest, friendliest most accommodating hosts. The breakfast is so delicious. It's surrounded by trees and we really felt close to nature. It's only 9 mi north of Baytown. If you want to get it away from it all, be in nature and be pampered, this is a place to go. The price is very reasonable.

The room was clean, TV worked fine, staff were friendly and helpful, etc. BUT the third-party (not Hilton) reservation service (Reservations.com) was MISLEADING. We got fooled into believing we were dealing with Hilton, and later learned that we would get no cancellation privileges, Hilton stay points, free wi-fi, or other Hilton Honors privileges at two locations over seven nights of stays. (Fortunately, the nice folks at the properties where we stayed helped us with some of that.) If you want a direct Hilton (or other brand) hotel reservation, be SURE you're not making it through a third-party reservation service. They apparently pay Google to put their links above the hotel chain's links, then lead you to believe you're talking to Hilton, Marriott or another name brand. They also don't know anything about the property except what's on their script, so the info you get may not be accurate. The best thing to do is contact the hotel directly (where we would have gotten a lower rate and our travel points). We get that number everywhere we go, in case we want to stay there again. Next best is to go through the hotel company's website or reservation number. If you're on Reservations.com or some other third party website, READ THE FINE PRINT. If you're on the phone and not sure who you're talking to, ASK, and if it's a third-party reservation service, I suggest you hang up.

The water pressure in the shower was prefect and there was plenty of very hot water. Towels and sheets were fluffy and soft and I slept great on the comfy mattress. Another huge plus, especially if you visit Orange in the summer, is the upstairs was nicely cooled; I never felt warm inside for a second. There is wifi, but I only really used it to download a new book to my Kindle. There's also a TV in the room with Direct TV, but I never turned it on, instead preferring the serenity of this quiet, historical neighborhood to cast the perfect reading environment. I'm a light eater, so Gina, the innkeeper, provided me with fresh fruit salad each morning with toast or bagels. Parking is off-street and around back, so you never have to worry about your car. The is an expansive backyard with huge old trees. I preferred the front porch to watch for the occasional passing freight train which runs down the block. (There is a quiet zone in Orange now, so there is virtually no noise from the passing freights.)

However, I will say that if you're an active Fitbit user... you will get your steps in here! The resort is spread out so you'll do a lot of walking but if you're not up for it... just wait by any of shuttle signs and you will eat picked up by the passenger go-carts that drive around frequently. We were shuttled to our room and every building has a concierge during the day if you have questions on getting around or questions regarding your room. The rooms are a nice size and the view was amazing. The only set back is, if you're on the bottom floor then you may have some furry visitors as there are animals on the property. But no worries, don't bother them and they won't bother you...simple as that. Housekeeping cleans the rooms daily, this is a requirement and it says so on their website. There is a safe available in the room if you would like to lock away your valuables, but the housekeeping staff is nice and we were gifted with a new towel animal daily. They have nightly free shows and the sports bar (black&white bar) is 24 hours. The Festival restaurant is buffet style and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The resort has other cuisine specific restaurants but you will need to visit he lobby to make a reservation, same day is fine as long as the reservation is before 5 PM. For late night snackers (or if you're like us... if you need a burger after shots at the beach bar) then visit Don Ista (located behind the Festival) between 11p-1am for a burger or hot dog. If you're comfortable enough then you can grab a taxi and visit 5th avenue in Playa Del Carmen... it's about 15-20 mins away from the resort and cost us $30 USD. 5th Ave offers shopping, restaurants and Starbucks if you're really in need (lol). Overall, there are plenty of resorts available that are closer to Cancun. But I challenge visitors to explore the resorts in the direction of Playa del Carmen, including this one.

Located about 40 minutes from Cancun…read moreInternational airport and about 20 minutes from Playa del Carmen, this one of kind resort is not only immense in size, but It is all inclusive as well. After about a minute of driving up to the hotel lobby grand entrance, you are immediately greeted by the friendly staff that is eager to help you with your bags. The entrance in itself if spectacular with huge fountains and a great open rotunda type reception area. After our bags were taken, my boyfriend and I headed immediately for the nearest bar which was the sports bar. This bar is directly located to the right of the reception and this is also where the dinner and a show takes place every night. This is also one of the few areas in the hotel that you can get FREE WiFi without paying $5 bucks every hour. Now as for the rooms, they are a bit of hike away from the reception lobby, but they are so worth the walk. Extremely spacious and all single rooms include a California kind bed, FREE mini beer bar that is stocked with beer and soda (this is also replenished everyday) and a huge shower with a rain shower head. I also forgot to mention that this resort is one of the few in Mexico that is completely GREEN. This means that all of the lighting in the rooms can only be turned by putting your room key in a slot by the front door. The lights will shut off once you remove your key. These keys are extremely sensitive to sun and water so keep them in a dry area (we got locked out twice because the card got too hot.) One of the best features of this hotel is the pool area. Blue Bay has about 5 different pools that are all connected to one another. Lounge chairs are pretty tricky to get here because you have to wake up at the crack of ass in order to "reserve" your chair. So wake up early to avoid searching for a non exist ant chair around 11am-4pm. The pool area has has two bars on either end. One is a great round swing bar that actually has swings around it. This by far was my favorite bar just because of the chairs. There is also another bar behind the steakhouse on the beach that is for VI P's from 10am-5pm, but if you get lucky like we did you can sneak in if there is no watch guard. This bar has the top shelf liquor and the best bartender! Ask for Wilbert he will hook you up. The food was pretty good for an all inclusive resort. Blue Bay Esmeralda has 6 restaurants which include Mexican, Oriental, a Steakhouse, Italian and Seafood. In addition to these they have two buffets and the sports bar. The best one was hands down the Mexican restaurant. It had a great atmosphere and the food was delicious. The buffet for breakfast is great. They have everything from huevos rancheros cooked right in front of you to something as plain as yogurt. There is definitely something for every ones taste. Another amazing treat at this resort is the amazing staff. These workers work 12 hour shifts and still manage to keep a smile on their face. They are truly what makes this experience so wonderful. I recommend tipping at least $3 because to them that goes a long way. Unfortunately most of the hotel guests were not as gracious with their tip giving. If you have the extra cash, I recommend spending it in the spa. This spa is truly a dream. It is completely outdoors, and has pools, saunas and massage rooms. The massages are a bit pricey about $160 for the cheapest one hour massage to be exact, but again if you have the flow definitely come here and get a massage. If you only want to use the facilities it is $30 for all day. This resort is something out of a dream and I cannot recommend this place enough. If you're thinking about staying in the Riviera Maya definitely stay here you will not regret it.
