Can't recommend. Especially not good for late night travelers. Not cozy beds . Not very clean. Very loud. Slow check in. Some bad guest policies. Not economical for what you get: Super 8 type motel offerings at twice the price with more modern styles furnishings. What am I looking for in a hotel? 1.) comfortable 2.) clean 3.) quiet for rest 4.) great customer service 5.) ease of check in and out. 6.) nice or convenient location. After visiting... This hotel only had location going for it, and on some level the location wasn't ideal as the windows and walls were so cheaply and thinly built that it sounded almost like I was sleeping on an airport tarmac. Between the I-70 traffic and howling raging wind, and hotel cooling system it was a very loud night. I would not ever stay here again. Room was not wonderfully clean or comfortable. The bed made my hip hurt and I had to shift to get comfortable, which is not a usual hotel bed experience for me. A bath towel had some odd spot on it. A long hair in the shower. Lots of stains and poorly kept areas in the room. The staff were pleasant but management and their policies are just miserly. This hotel is Not good for a late night visit because they don't really have a late checkout. Although he was polite the night attendant/front desk person didn't disclose they don't do actual late checkouts and honor IHGs standards of late check outs. They require you to wake up at 8+am and request it with the manager. (And then came to knock really loudly at the check out time as though that request approval didn't occur. And they knocked 2 hours before and opened the door both times, which I did not appreciate.) Normal hotels just approve it upon check in and IHG members are allowed to check out as late as 2pm, upon availability, but at normal hotels it's always available til at least 1pm, if you request the night before. (And normal hotels don't usually open the door in the morning while guests are still in the room.) Anyway, we arrived super late at night and called ahead and we would have for sure selected elsewhere if we had known that's how it would be, since we didn't get 8 hrs of sleep when we have to drive on our road trip. There's another IHG hotel in town that always are so helpful and much nicer and we get 4pm check out at Marriot, so it was frustrating that the gentleman at night didn't mention that while we called to ask about the room. The desk clerk in the day time was exceptionally kind and helpful so I added a star for that. read more

This hotel is conveniently located off I-70 and close to the Rivian charging station. The room layout is good but the room we were in was dirty. The shower looks dirty, a little toothpaste on the wall, main room walls were dirty, and there was dirt and crumbs in the corner in main room. read more

We expected a little bit more than we got. It was a very basic, simple hotel room. Literally - - not even a closet. The bed was not comfortable, but the room as far as we could tell was clean. If what you were looking for is a very basic simple room, this will serve your needs. I will say that noises kept us awake all night. There was something banging all night, but there was a storm there storm so maybe it was something outside. The walls are pretty thin. We will not be staying at an Avid hotel. In the future. For the money I would choose a Marriott or Hyatt over this. read more

Stayed twice in one week. Very big fan of the simple value of Avid. Clean tile floors, simple furniture, nice amenities and simple but option-filled breakfast. Comfy beds and good wifi. However, one room had a badly hung door that you had to lift to close or open (awkward if you're not strong), the handles had come off the sliding shower doors, and the desk was damaged with a chunk of the top missing. Pls stay on top of repairs and maintenance, don't let that value slide and allow the no frills furniture to look old or dirty. Great staff, ample parking, a great stop in a town with many options, in a desert of hospitality in the vast prairie. read more

We booked this hotel after we saw it while dining at Old Chicago next door. It looked new and updated from outside which was a stark comparison to some others I looked up online that are also in Hays. We were able to get a room and paid the $25 fee to have our dog join us. We love that they allow dogs. The hotel is definitely newer and we enjoyed how clean it was in the room. The rooms are small and basic but we don't need anything else for an overnight stay. They had shampoo, conditioner, and body wash pumps in the shower which all smelled fabulous. Had everything we needed! We were on the top floor and I can't say any hallway noise bothered us. I actually think it was one of the more quiet hotels we have stayed in during our trip with the dog. Loved the bean-to-cup coffee machines in the lobby for the next morning. Plenty of outside space for the dog to go outside too. Would definitely recommend!! read more

Horrible mattress, dirty floor, crud in corners of shower, SINGLE-PLY toilet paper! The mattress was so bad, neither of us slept well. We were both awake at 0430 because our backs were miserable. I go barefoot whenever inside. The bottoms of my feet were filthy. I had to wash them before I could put my socks on in the morning. Interesting that all previous posts raved about the cleanliness. I expect cheap toilet paper at gas stations, but not at hotels. Seriously, not staying here again. I'd rather sleep in my car. read more

Very simple, minimal, modern. No freebie toiletries as they are a communal bottles in the bathroom(similar to staying at an Airbnb) Rooms were very clean and new. Breakfast is why I deducted a star because it is below average compared to any other hotel with free breakfast. There is not a hot breakfast like eggs, bacon, waffles, oatmeal, etc like one would expect. They only have small grab n go/individually packages items like yogurt, cheerio bowls, banana. Never used Avid before, but wanted to try as this was a fairly new location. I'll go through the pros / cons below. Pros: mostly clean, convenient location, decent shower head with like a fine mist setting; variety in their on site goods store Cons: no carpet - so all noise on your floor you hear; very minimalist - not really any frills in the room; ran out of bottled water; bed is like sinking in a hole - no support or structure; very limited tv channels Other comments on the floors and interstate noise really didn't concern me - the noise issue is when you have loud people on your floor, there is nothing to drown it out. Bad experience- not really; but doubt I'd do it again. Nice looking Holiday Inn close by I'd try next time. read more

I really liked this hotel. Very efficient, in a good way. Room wasn't big, but the bed was great and the bath/shower was awesome. No in-room coffee maker [just one example of the efficiency comment] but there's fresh coffee in the lobby 24/7. Ron was at the counter tonight and he was a great host. Very professional with just the right amount of character. The only reason I gave 4 stars vs. 5 was the live TV lineup. CNN is listed right up top, but Fox News was way at the bottom. *****AND***** Fox News is actually programmed to Fox Business. So in the evening (when most people are in their rooms) all you get is meaningless fluff programming from Fox Business. There are no Hillary Clinton pictures on the wall, but there's distinct Marxist Socialism smell in the air. ;- l read more

The Avid hotel in Wichita is a fantastic place to rest and rejuvenate. Access from the highway is easy peasy, the parking lot is filled with nothing but good spots, and bonus...it's next to an Old Chicago Pizza restaurant and Applebee's. The rooms at Avid are nice and clean and the employees go out of their way to make guests feel comfortable. The GM, Ron, is incredibly accommodating. He's very welcoming, friendly, and kind. It's easy to see that the other employees follow his lead. I highly recommend a stay at this crisp and clean hotel. You will feel right at home with Ron and his team taking care of you. read more

Hotel is nice and new. Clean. Rooms are great. Fitness center has a lot of stuff. Price seems like a decent value. Their "marketplace" has prices that are more like convenience store prices rather than mini-bar prices. That's nice. I'd dock it like a fraction of a star because the breakfast is weird. It's not really an American-style continental breakfast. It's more like what you'd get in Europe with just some coffee and bakery items. I'd expect a few more hot items. Eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, etc. I'd give it like four and three quarters stars if I could. Overall pretty good stay though. read more

If you're just passing through, and plan on getting up early the next morning and on to your next destination, this is a GREAT place to stay. Room was very clean, and I have no complaints there at all. However if you do like to sleep in a little while you're on vacation(8-9am) you might want to avoid staying here. Like many reviews have mentioned, the hallways are not carpeted, so you hear every footstep, starting from 5am on. If you're a heavy sleeper this might not bother you, but just be aware. Definitely not a place I'd stay more than 1 consecutive night in either, but perfect for 1 night stops. read more

We have stayed here twice now, and both times have had good stays. The hotel kind of reminds me of IKEA. The rooms are smaller but adequate. There is a small fridge in the room but no coffee maker. However, there is a complementary coffee and tea bar in the lobby. The coffee is a "bean to cup" coffee machine and quite good. As an avid soda water drinker, I was pleasantly surprised to see sparkling water as one of the options on the water dispenser. Breakfast had decent options and snack type ones you could grab and go. The bed was soft but comfortable. It's a newer hotel and had built in USB ports with the outlets. The television was very nice with a good selection of channels. The shower was large with ample hot water and pressure. The towels were thick and soft. Only thing I didn't care for was the shampoo. I worry it might not age well, but for now, I would stay here again. read more

I had high hopes for this hotel since it's fairly new, but it's clear no one is keeping this place up. The rooms have hard floors, which is a great idea for a hotel, but they were dirty. I had to brush my feet off before getting into bed. The shower had mold around the edges and corners and we found a couple good sized bugs in the bathroom. There were no towels at the pool. No ice buckets by the ice machine. The coffee machines both had lights on stating they needed to be cleaned. The gym had a sign to wipe off equipment after use, but there was nothing provided to do so. There are hand sanitizer dispensers on the walls around the hotel and every one I tried was empty. The beds were clean and comfortable. The people at the front desk were polite and they brought towels to the pool when asked, but did not seem to be proactively restocking anything. I had a reservation here and got a call at 6:30 pm telling me that they didn't have a room for us that night, even though I had booked a room earlier in the week. This left my family and I including our baby, teenager, and three dogs scrambling to find a place to stay that night. We were in rural Kansas and our calls kept getting dropped while we were trying to find another hotel. This whole situation was outrageous and very stressful. Less expensive than others, but what are you paying for? One of the smallest rooms I have ever stayed in, with modernist Ikea style features serving the roles of conventional furniture. Some of those already chipped and shabby. No cups in the rooms...and no clock (rather than just rolling over to see the time you have to make the effort to check your phone. Floors of indifferent cleanliness. A tiny fridge that sounded like the D Day landing. And the heat pump that seemed the entire building rumbled and vibrated...the desk person, although she offered to help me change rooms after I realized the vibration wasn't going to stop, is selling that room clearly knowing there's an issue--hoping, I guess, that exhausted travellers like me will just let it go. disappointed in this hotel, we have stayed here probably 14 nights or more lately and our 2 year old escaped our room for a couple minutes and was wondering around the lobby. yes I understand that's wrong that we didn't realize it for a couple minutes, but the problem is there is no way to lock kids in the rooms in this hotel. the next morning I was scolded about it by an older lady, any other hotel I have ever stayed at has either a chain lock or flip over lock on the interior that kids can't reach. this is a safety hazard! I also want to comment on how poor the house keeping is. of all the nights we stayed I don't think our room was cleaned one time. the staff is also confused about the bottled water, some days we had to pay and some we didn't. A very clean hotel and like other peoples reviews very plain rooms. Miss having carpet a little noisy with the bare floors. And the whole week I have stayed here in the afternoon there was no hot water. Each day I would call downstairs and they were tell me that the hot water heater needs to be reset. Not very good for supposedly a brand new hotel. The breakfast area is OK the sandwiches are placed on a hot plate and they are overheated and dry. Definitely would not stay here again. read more
