Budget rentals was the wrong choice. My wife and I were moving across country, from Florida to Idaho in a budget truck and trailer, recommended by the company, the trailer was faulty and snapped releasing our Lexus halfway around Illinois, in the middle of the freeway! This could have resulted in a terrible multiple accident. We were lucky not to damage or hurt any other drivers, however we lost our car and this company is not getting back to us it's been 2 weeks of the incident. I can't recommend this company. Horrible service. Should have read the reviews here before even booking. Made a reservation for 9:00 am by 11 the guy at the counter said that he didn't have a car for me because I was late. The parking lot had about 8 cars that he said that where for customers that are on time and that I had to wait one hour for a return car. As I was asking more question the guy rudely said "I don't have to tell you how I operate my business" and I said yes you do because I am a customer. The audacity ... customer is the reason why you get a pay check. Anyways just make sure you call prior to picking up you car to make sure everything is fine. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWFUL. DO NOT BOOK UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR RESERVATION CANCELED. We booked 2 months ago via Expedia, and he canceled my reservation because it was through Expedia. He pretended he had no evidence of the payment when I was clearly showing him all the receipts. Mind you, this is during Christmas time and they conveniently didn't have any cars left after I had a secure reservation for 2 months. The man behind the counter was so incredibly rude, he made no effort to fix the situation and left my husband and I sit out in the rain. Unbelievable. Called the day before and spoke with George about an SUV rental for at least 6 passengers. He told me I could reserve online or via their Budget App. Using it was super easy and I secured a great deal getting a discount by prepaying the amount. Upon arrival around 11am, there were 3 patrons before me but the line moved fairly quickly. In my case, it was no more than 5-8 minutes and I was on my way. What took long was the customer in front of me blocking the exit, but they eventually moved. I reserved a 7 passenger Ford Explorer or equivalent and what George gave me was a 2018 Chevrolet Suburban with 2400 miles. This massive SUV was completely loaded including an in-dash GPS (free) which wasn't needed and also included WiFi as well. It also has the popular "Lane Departure Warning" as well as a blind spot monitor warning in the side mirrors. Also, if you have a SunPass, you're able to use it, not like what that scam rental car Priceless Car Rentals had told me (see my review on them) PLUS, I can put as many miles as I wish even though I'm a Florida resident. It pays to use these national rental car companies. The only thing that's extra is if you wish to add an additional driver, that must be done so at the time of rental and they must be present. Needless to say...I am a very happy customer with the complete rental experience here that's so close to home. I highly recommended renting a car from this location if you're staying in the area or visiting from afar. I'm sure you'll have a great experience as I have. read more

If I could give this location a "0" I would. I live very close to this location and reserved a car for trip in northern Florida and it was terrible. I prepaid for the reservation and there was no cars available when I showed up for my reservation. Then was told there was three rentals in front of me so when cars came back that day I would still be waiting for cars to come in. This is completely unaccepteable. Why do they make a reservation. I was told I would not have a car for at least 3 - 4 hours. I will never use this location again and will pay for an Uber to get to the airport to rent my next car. BTW the manager did nothing to try and help us out in a form or fashion. On the positive side Avis and the Avis counter at Miami airport did everything they could to help us out and made good on everything. So AVIS as a company did the right thing. My home looks like an episode of "Hoarders" and we were about to undertake a big renovation project. There was no way the workers could even physically get to the work they needed to do unless we scheduled an intervention! Fortunately, drastic measures were not necessary as I have storage over in Miami, so I reserved a 16' box truck to facilitate the junk move. I reserved online ahead of time, but was worried that I would get to the location and have them tell me they just rent cars. I didn't realize that they have a pretty large lot in the back, and they had a few different sized trucks in the back. The gentleman behind the counter was friendly and pretty efficient. Within 10 minutes of arrival, I was in the truck headed back to my house to being the purge. I had a 20% off coupon, so the stated base price on the truck was about $25; however, I ended up paying close to $100. I tacked on basic insurance since I drive a Prius and was a little concerned about maneuvering the truck. Then there was a mileage charge, plus taxes, fees, etc, etc, All in all, considering that Avis provides the ability to rent a large truck without leaving the beach, I think the cost is reasonable. Dropping the truck off was a breeze as well. Since round 1 barely made a dent in decluttering, I am definitely going to rent from Avis again to complete the transformation read more

NEARLY ASSAULTED BY LOT ATTENDANT!!! I was in fear for my safety and am planning to file a police report. Plus there were several problems with the car. Here's what happened: 1) I was forced to sign the multi-copy paper showing damage to the car PRIOR TO EVEN SEEING THE CAR! I said I wouldn't sign it until I reviewed the car's condition and she said "NO", and forced me to sign it first. She did explain that I would have a chance to review it with the lot attendant prior to him ripping it and taking his copy. She was NOT wearing an ID badge so I don't know her name (I looked for it). 2) The lot guy could not have been more unfriendly. Plus he had no identification (badge) and was not wearing any Avis/Budget clothing (shirt..). That I can live with even though I don't know why they would employ a guy who makes such a bad impression. He drove the car up, walked around the car, gave me my paperwork, took his copy of the damage sheet, and started to walk away. I asked him why he took his copy and walked away when we didn't go over the car yet. He started to walk away again and I said- that's the point of the sheet was for us to agree on any damage and at least for me to point out anything. He got really nasty and told me he wouldn't help me and to go into the office if I have a problem. I asked him how he could just walk away while I'm talking to him and he didn't care. I took out my phone to take his photo in case I need to escalate this to senior management and then he ran towards me, got in my face, and threatened to break my phone- as in: "you take my picture and I'll break your phone!". He finally walked away, and totally unprovoked turned and came back at me, got in my face again, and said "you heard me, you take my picture and I'll break your phone!". I told him I was going to call the police. I would have if I didn't need to leave. LOOK AT THE PHOTOS (under the photos tab above). ONE GUY IS THREATENING ME AND THE OTHER IS LAUGHING. 3) The woman at the counter asked me if I wanted the entire insurance coverage or only pay for the state mandatory minimum. THAT IS A LIE. There is NO state mandatory minimum insurance that I am REQUIRED to purchase. 4) The car: a) shows only 3/4 tank of gas at pick up. b) change oil warning light on. c) add wiper fluid light on. d) had sunpass flipped to off which I noticed right before a toll. -all photographed. This is a reflection on this location, Budget Rent A Car, and Fiona Wright, Territory Performance Manager from Avis/Budget who left her card in case there were problems. How can they employ this guy? I CAN'T be the first person this has happened to, not with this guy. How can a Budget employee threaten a customer? How can people treat each other this way? I was in fear for my safety and left extremely shook up. I don't know what weapon he could have as he was threatening me on their lot. This was easily my worst rental experience in 35 years of renting cars. DON'T DOWNLOAD YOUR VIA BLUETOOTH IN THESE CARS! I downloaded my phone via Bluetooth and will never do that again. Twice I've been in Miami Beach and rented a car from this location when I've downloaded my phone. Twice my SIM CARD WAS HIJACKED. This has never happened to me home or elsewhere. While I cannot prove there's fraudulent activity going on at this location I am very suspicious. Plus the other reviews for this location are horrendous. Stay away. read more

14 miles from the airport, had a flat tire. I am a totally disabled veteran with expensive medications that are subject to high temperatures. While I was waiting one of the issues was my service dog. Federal law is very specific about how to treat them. I suggested they send out a tow truck for their vehicle and bring me a replacement. Well after 2hours I'm still here with no water for my dog and I and still no decision from them. This started around 1:00am. It's been a very long day and I am very tired and tired of waiting so long. I definitely would not consider renting from Budget ever again and I will not recommend them to anyone. Horribly managed location!! I prepaid for a rental online several weeks before arriving in Miami. On my date and within 10 minutes of my scheduled pickup time I showed up to get my car, only to be told I'd have to wait at least 2 hours for a car to be turned in, as they had none. I asked what the purpose was in me not only making a reservation, but also making a non-refundable pre-payment and he simply advised there's nothing he can do. I said I wanted to cancel and wanted a refund and since I did the prepay plan, he made me call a number to do this. The supervisor I spoke to at the number was friendly and helpful and ensured I would get a refund and not have to pay the $150 penalty they charge for this type of refund, so that was nice. But this simply shouldn't happen. While on the phone with customer service, another couple that was in the lobby (who had been there waiting nearly 2 hours) were given a car that was just returned, without the guy at the desk going out to check in the car and/or clean/wash it. He simply took the key from one customer and gave it to the others... I thought the cars needed to be cleaned in between customers and at least checked out. I've gotten cars here before and there's always a problem. My last Budget rental, last month, I specifically paid for a Jeep and got a Dodge Charger, but I needed the Jeep for a reason. I'm not sure what's going on with Budget, but they're terribly managed and they need to really pay attention to all these bad reviews and work on correcting their issues! read more

Do not rent a car from this location. Waited for shuttle from cruise terminal for 55 minutes while every other rental agency had multiple shuttles come and go. Once we arrived at rental storefront at 8:50am we were told they didn't have any cars available. Car we were finally given had 3/4 tank full of gas, was dirty inside and out and low tire pressure light came on within 5 minutes of pulling out of lot. Called AVIS and they let us return car to airport for a much nicer car like we are used to from AVIS, but such an inconvenience. read more

One client had reserved a truck 4 days in advance and could not have it because the client before didn't return it, but nobody called him to tell him the car haven't been returned, and he had to go without a car. Would give zero stars if possible. Car had transmission problems-almost got hit while making a left turn due to the transmission hesitation. Drove car to closest location for return (1 hour round trip). Was told this is common for this model and to call roadside assistance because this Budget location could not help us. Rd side asst said take to airport location because they couldn't get to us until next day. Then drove dangerous car to the airport location to exchange (2 hours round trip). Before returning our car on the final day of our trip, we topped off the fuel tank. The return agent on the lot gave us a receipt with and extra $63 fuel charge, when questioned, he said he put it in as full and to go inside to question. Inside they asked us for a fuel receipt, which we did not keep-didn't know we would need it, never had this scam happen before. Agent said they would do us a one time courtesy and remove the charge. (That never should have been there to begin with). 2 days after returning home, full charge, including bogus fuel charge, is taken out of my bank account. Called customer service, tells me to email copy of bank statement and charge will be removed. Emailed the statement charge with case number to be told by that department that this is not sufficient proof. Replied to them and will now have to waste more of my time contacting my bank to file a dispute. There are so many more reputable car rental companies, DO NOT waste your time, money, and energy on BUDGET or AVIS-same owners. read more

Initial service was prompt and quick. When we went to return the car, the location wasn't open. It was already 30 minutes after opening hours. I had to find another location to drop off and afterwards they charged me to fill my tank when I received it with only 1/8 of a tank full. Currently working with customer service to get it reversed because I'm only obligated to return it with 1/8 full exactly how it was given to me. Hoping cs can figure out between the odometer and gas I paid for and put in the car that the tank was never given to me full. I'm beyond irritated right now. read more

The girl looked like she was ready to smack talk before she even said hi. No one called us, or even sent an email, to say that the car rental company has no cars and they just fancy taking your money, just in case. Had to call the hotline for a refund, where I was put through 4 different people, one of them hung up. They all sound suicidal and I kinda feel sorry for them, it's a bit of a soul sucking job. My wife rented a car thru expedia, the total was X, she got there they said expedia has nothing to do with them and charged her 2x + $20. When she tried asking why would expedia reserve her a car for a price and its alot more they were rude to her and told her its that or nothing. Anyway ... Looks like they pushed insurances she needed and didnt need and said that she needed it. Told her that she doesnt need to put gas in the car to return that the gas is covered in the price. When in reality is that you dont put gas in the car u get charged $40 for that particular car and if she returns with the tank full the will charge 2x -$40. Worst AVIS/BUDGET Car rental station in Florida. Ordered and reserved category not available which ended in a "upgrade" to a van which was way too big. Fuel gauge was close to empty and we found trash inside of two different pre-owners in the back. Next time I will not consider this station for sure. The worse rental car place ever! They let us drive with expired tags off the lot! We get four states away and realize the tags are expired. They made us drive 45 minutes to the airport to trade the car in and advised us that they would call before we arrive. When we arrive they made us wait an auditional 2 hours for the car stating that no one called them to advise that we are coming!!! They still refused to accommodate us for the inconvenience I will always use enterprise going forward I will never use Avis again !! read more

*DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION* I made a reservation 1 month in advance online and paid the full amount. When I showed up at the time of my reservation, at the budget counter, I was greeted with an attitude right away by the customer service lady. She then told me the convertible car I paid for was not available. I needed to wait one hour for the car to be here. When I return an hour later I'd been told there were no convertible available in all south beach. I then told the mean lady at the counter that I paid and reserved for a convertible and expected one. Her answer was I could get a regular car if I like but no convertible. When I asked the rate for this new car the answer was: "it's more expensive than what you pay already but we will leave you the car at the same rate" I was in shock to hear that considering it's not the first time I rent a car and know convertible car are always one of the most expensive category car. They were obviously trying to screw me. Nice business!!!! I know I have a foreigner accent but I wasn't a tourist considering I live in the USA and know how rental car works!! When I knocked on the door, she walked over and pointed to the sign on the door saying that the location closed at 5:00. I pointed to the clock in the store indicating it was only 4:55. Worst company ever. First I received a dirty car, then I got charged a $200 smoking fee when I dropped off the car the next days. Although we are non smokers and we were driving with our 5 month old baby. I made a charge back since I am not gonna pay for something I didn't do.
