I set up a time to come in and test drive a truck, I came in at 5:00 like I advised the sales person Lou. When I came in the receptionist pointed to his cubicle and said he is with a customer and to have a seat. I sat right outside of Lou's cube in the lobby. I sat and sat and Lou walked by me several times with no acknowledgment whatsoever. He was still helping a customer which is understandable however I am there to test drive a vehicle I just need a set of keys and yet you ignored me for 30 mins and never said "I will be right with you". The service department at Avis is a joke. Took 3 weeks just to get someone to confirm that the transmission on my 2019 Edge with 76k miles was dead. They seemed to think this was normal and refused to help me get any financial relief from Ford to fix this known issue. They quoted over $8k to fix it when the car is only worth about $13k. It was truly bizarre that this was business as usual in their universe. This will be my first and last purchase of a Ford vehicle. What a complete joke and waste of time. I found a reputable local transmission shop to do the repair for $6500 in 1 week and I'm working with Ford Customer Care to get some compensation. I originally shared a positive experience with Avis Ford based on a goodwill repair to my vehicle of a part they actually damaged, but I feel compelled to update my review given the subsequent issues and lack of accountability. After their "repair" of a faulty, Ford-recalled seatbelt mechanism, I discovered a deep scratch and dent on the interior passenger side--cutting through to the bare metal of my tri-coat paint. This damage was completely concealed during the service, and as the sole driver of my two-door vehicle, I can confirm it did not exist before. I have neither the tools, nor the strength to create damage of this nature. Shortly after, a persistent rattling developed on the same side of the car. I raised this safety concern directly with Avis Ford, emphasizing the risk of driving with a possible loose interior panel and definite compromised structural integrity--especially given the original repair involved a recalled part. Unprofessional Response: Rather than addressing the latent damage and dangerous noise, the service manager for Avis Ford, told me to take my business elsewhere. This dismissal--coupled with the fact that my car is now worse off than before--falls far short of the professional, customer-focused service I initially praised. I was very respectful and kind in my communication, despite the inconvenience of having to return multiple times for the same issues and them causing even more problems. I'd hoped they would just repair the damage they know they caused and resolve this matter. I regret having to downgrade my rating, but I cannot in good conscience recommend a dealership willing to endanger my safety and have me on the road with damage caused by them. I needed to pay for an employee's vehicle repair over the phone and the service department told me that they didn't take payment over the phone. Later when my employee tried to pay using their gas card, the employees at Avis Ford said they do take payment over the phone, they just thought I was rude. They are saying that we have to go pick up the vehicle in person. This is huge waste of our businesses time. I wish I could pay them nothing. This is not a professional business. I'm very busy like most professionals and don't have time for games. A policy should be universally enforced, not cherry picked for people they like. read more

I'll start by saying that my Salesman, JZ, was awesome. 5 stars for him. I have been having issues with my car since October, 2024 after taking it in for a routine oil change. On October 21st; 3 days after the oil change, my car began to overheat and I received warnings that the engine coolant was over temperature and the engine had overheated. I was unable to drive the car and had to get it towed the next day. I was told by my service provider, Allan, that there was an issue with the filter and that it needed to be replaced. There were no loaners available at Avis Ford, so they arranged for me to get a rental car from a nearby rental place. On Monday October 28th, the service was supposedly complete and I was able to pick up my car on October 30th. On November 1st, my car shut down again. I received notifications via the dashboard and app stating the exact same issue: Engine Coolant Over Temperature. I waited a few hours for Allan to confirm whether or not there would be a rental for me to pick up when I dropped off the car, which there was not. I had to wait until Monday, November 4th to have the car towed and to be able to pick up a rental from the dealership. On the 4th, I was notified that the engine needed to be replaced on my car because the "antifreeze and oil are mixing inside the engine and leaking out the side of the engine block". This seems very odd as I had never experienced any type of issue with the car ever before October. The car is only 3 years old, needing the engine to be replaced leads me to believe that whoever serviced my car during the initial oil change did something incorrectly which caused a series of destruction to the car. It took over a month for the engine to be replaced. I was notified on December 13th in the afternoon that it was ready for pickup. Being that I was at work and the dealership is closed on the weekends, I was not able to pick it up until December 17th. I literally had the car back for 4 days before it once again began to break down. As I was driving on the highway on December 21st (Saturday), I began to hear a loud scraping noise. I pulled over and underneath my car, the shield or a very large part of the car was literally falling out. I have photos of everything. I had to pull over in a location I was very unfamiliar with to once again, request a tow as this issue is extremely dangerous and the car was unable to be driven. I called the dealership to speak with Allan first thing on Monday morning to let him know the car was at the dealership and I texted him photos of the damage. Allan was EXTREMELY rude and condescending, and completely dismissive. He basically told me that I was overreacting for having the car towed, and that it was fine to be driven although the shield was literally scraping on the cement and falling out. He told me that "people drive their cars like that all the time". We are in Michigan, and have been experiencing inclement weather consisting of snow and black ice on the roads. I told him that I did not feel comfortable driving the car in these winter weather conditions with it falling apart, and he told me that was "my choice" and gave me extreme push back on registering it to be serviced. I asked to speak with a manager and that's when he finally said he would look into it. He sent me a text message saying that he spoke to Grace, not sure who that is, and that they would either have my car fixed by EOD or provide me with a rental car until it could be fixed. In the meantime, my dad went to the dealership to drop off the key as I did not feel comfortable leaving it in the car while it was stranded and waiting to be towed. The wait time was over 3 hours for the tow and I was unfamiliar with the location, so I did not leave the key out of caution. They "fixed" the issue the same day and I have been back in the car since that day, December 23rd. The car is jumpy and I would not be surprised if another issue arises before I turn it in. I do not understand how every time I picked up my car from being serviced at Avis Ford, I received it back in a worse condition than it was in before and with a new issue that is even greater than what it was originally in service for. The car was towed three times since October. The way I was spoken to by Allan was unacceptable, he acted as if I was a nuisance to him and as if I was inconveniencing him when I am the one who has been inconvenienced and placed in dangerous situations multiple times due to the neglect of the technicians at Avis Ford who carelessly worked on my car. The service team and technicians were neglectful which caused me several major issues in the long run. I am extremely disappointed in the service I've received at Avis Ford and quite honestly believe the service team and technicians need to be investigated. read more

I took delivery of my 2019 Ford Explorer Limited with a cracked windshield, and despite repeated promises to replace it under warranty, the dealership's repair teams have failed every time. The first installer didn't have the proper rubber gasket and resorted to using tar sealant to secure the new windshield; a second crew only added more sealant--again without genuine parts--and after countless calls assuring me they'd "make it right," I've heard nothing. Now the windshield is leaking into the cabin, damaging the interior and making the vehicle unsafe to drive in wet weather. I did not buy a car from this dealership, and I never will. I purchased a console vault safe from Ford's Accessory website, and purchased the installation and for some reason chose Avis Ford to install it. I called them to set up an appointment to have the part installed once I figured out that the part had been delivered to them (but not contacted by them) and was told to come in the next day at 9:30 to 10:00am, thusly I did. Upon my arrival, I was met with a long line of vehicles waiting to be processed, with two staff members checking people in. I was told that I did not have an appointment, when one should have been made for this installation. I was told to drop my keys off and they will get to it when they could. Luckily, I only had one other vehicle ahead of mine in line to get done. That being said, from the time I parked my car at service, until the time that I was checked in, it was 30 minutes of standing around. The employees seemed to be dragging their feet and did not want to be there and made me feel like I was an inconvenience for being there. That being said, they did finish the installation and did a good job from what I can see. It only took them two hours (was estimated 2-2.5 hours) and am satisfied so far. As for the dealership, I have been to several Ford dealerships and bought from several Ford Dealerships. Their Dealership sales floor is dirtier and older than most Used Car Lots. Friendly staff greeted me as I pondered the sales floor, but their facilities were older, dirty and seemingly very different from other dealerships in the area. Glad they installed my accessory without an issue and timely, but not a very nice dealership that I would want to go back to. read more

Service professional Jean Miller informed me of needed transmission and engine part replacement...Later found out (from Quick Lanes' specialist), no engine work was ever completed on my vehicle. I've emailed Ford Customer Experience Specialist, General Managers, "tried" addressing concerns with Service Managers, several Service professionals...without ANY RESOLUTION. Service Center Mgr./professionals lack compassion; Service ctr. manager (Larry) is extremely... rude. I pay $465.00 monthly for a vehicle under warranty. I'm forced to drive this vehicle to work, every day, with smoke coming from its exhaust/ "check engine" light on. It's sad and very unfortunate that this is my experience. I've been purchasing vehicles from Avis Ford for over a decade and this is by far the WORSE experience ever. Upon purchase, I was promised a $500 voucher through ID. As a Ford vehicle owner for many years and as a salesperson for many years I want to explain my experience with one of the few times I have brought my car in for service. I set an appointment the previous week for 12/12/23 with Jean Miller and dropped off the car that morning fully expecting to have it ready later that day. I did not hear from anyone so at 3:30p I called to ask the status. I was told they were looking at it. I received no further follow up to let me know the car would need to stay overnight. The next day 12/13, I called again at around 11am and Jean had not come in yet. I was frustrated that no one gave me a courtesy call to advise me of the status so I assumed nothing was done. I came back to the dealership and asked to release the car to me so I could take it somewhere else. Another service person checked and discovered the car was being worked on and did not know when it would be done. I went home and the next call I received was from Jean at ~4:00P advising the car was ready. I asked that Avis send a car to pick me up which he confirmed. Then I received another call from a driver who was delivering the car to my home. That was totally unexpected. While I appreciate the door to door delivery service the communication from beginning to end was poor at best. The car runs as it should now so the service performed did the job. I appreciate that but based on the people experience, it is unlikely I will return to Avis for future service. read more

They aren't friendly at all. The people on the operator/phone end are rude and either hang up on you or put you on hold for a ridiculous amount of time only to forward you onward. The service techs are also not friendly and appear to be miserable. They never greet you and act like you're out of place for being there. Like what? It's ironic that they put customer service is their goal on your receipt because it truly seems like the opposite. Even when they respond to honest reviews others have left they act condescending and rude instead of actually taking a step back and realizing they need to do better. Super unprofessional of them. It takes them multiple days to do a simple service check, they said they checked the fluids but it was clear they did not. You have to call and bug them for status updates because they don't communicate with you or give you false promises saying it'll be done this day or that day. I asked them to check my brakes and the technician began arguing with me and telling me "the car is newer it doesn't need them, they probably aren't making any noise, etc" and it was 100% probably because I'm a woman and he assumed I know nothing about cars. I've changed the brakes on my own vehicles myself so it was extremely sexist, rude, and out of line. Come to find out he ends up telling me my rotors were warped and then they didn't even replace them and only ground them down. I'll get them replaced elsewhere. They seem to be lazy and just overall not a good place to go if you want things taken care of in a reasonable manner. No reason for them to be so rude to people. The most friendly person I encountered here was one of the guys in the Quick Lane when I got my oil changed. I'm not coming back here and when they respond to my review I'll just laugh. I've been doing business with Avis for more than 30 years. The first car I financed came from Avis. Three of my four work trucks came from Avis. I bought my first work truck from Tim (who just retired) in used cars. Then Warren Powell, then Derrell Mimms. I also bought a car from Gene McHarris in the 90s. Rodney Bartlett was always my service advisor until he became ill. Rodney always took care of me and we ultimately became friends. Avis was my dealer. I never had a complaint about Avis. Fast forward to today, my 2018 F150 needed service. I decided to take it to Avis. I was referred to Terrance Myers, an advisor in service; he's a horrible advisor! Terrance told me to bring my truck in on Tuesday 07/23 at 8:45. He checked it in and told me it would probably be Thursday or Friday before they looked at it. I'm not sure why I needed to drop it off on Tuesda, but whatever. I called Friday around 3:00 to follow up, got no answer, left a message. I didn't expect a return call on Friday because it was already 3:00. Monday came, no return call. I called again around 11:00, no answer, left message, no return call. I showed up Tuesday morning and had to wait 30 minutes to see Terrance. Of course, he says he was about to call me. He says, they looked at my truck and it's gonna need an engine. When I asked why it needs an engine, he doesn't know, they have to tear it down to find out. He says, he has to call the warranty company to get authorization to tear it down. He also says, the tech that's working on it is off this week. He tells me, "you can take it if you want, but the warranty company is probably gonna make you bring it back to us". Soooo, you've had my truck for a week, the tech has looked at you say, you haven't called to update me, you haven't called to get the warranty process started, and now your tech is off for a week. I had come by Saturday but they didn't have the right part, and he mentioned I could try today - when I got here, he promptly got me started on the paperwork and checking in my vehicle. I got the oil change and car inspection done by Drew, who was very prompt (the wait can be long, but once they get to you it goes quickly). After paying off my Escort and increasing my score, I thought okay it's time to upgrade to something fancy; to which I bought a Mountaineer. I loved that truck as well. Then, I sold that vehicle and purchased a Ford Explorer, which happened to be a big headache (neither of the last two vehicles were purchased at Avis) maybe that's where I made my mistake. After going back and forth to the service department at the dealership where I purchased my Explorer (I honestly think I bought a lemon from this dealership). I decided that's it!! I'm going back to Avis where I know I'm going to get great customer care. I went in and on the same day, purchased a 2015 Taurus Sho and I Love Love Love it!! Maurice Houston was my sales representative and he is awesome. He gave me a GREAT DEAL and was very patient with me as I made the final decisions on the color and the additional extras of my new vehicle. I'm glad I went back to my roots. Remember I asked if I could wait They said they didn't know how long it would be. Then I had to go back to Hertz to get a refund they wouldn't give me back my $38.00 for rental for half an hour. We have been taking our car to Avis Quicklube for years and getting "The works" which includes tire rotation. We had a thumping noise and they could not find the problem. Later we brought it to another dealer and they found a problem that was covered by warranty and also said the tires had not been rotated! I have now my 2nd bad experience here. Please stay away from this place. They're only after your money. 1st time a year ago. They were trying to sell me $1200! Worth of repairs. After reading an error code from the engine. I ended up replacing the spark plugs myself. For $70. And the problem was fixed. Code was gone. Running like a charm. Now my 2009 expedition has some issues with the transmission. I fixed it myself but need a Ford dealership to reflash my computer to work with the new part. Again they're trying to sell me "diagnostics". $116 Per issue ! I tell them i know exactly what's wrong. And don't need diagnostics. Just programming the computer. Some 15 mins worth of work. After showing up at the appointment they still wrote me down for diagnostics. And threatened me that if it would not work after reprogramming they wouldn't lift a finger. So I better pay for diagnostics. Now, two days later. They haven't even started the work. And i had to be on hold for30 minutes for them to tell me that. They expect they will get to it on Monday (i brought it in on Tuesday). This is outrageous.. I need to pay for diagnostics I don't need and a week of alternative transportation. For a 15 minute job. Update Monday April 2nd; I had to call them twice before I received someone on the phone. Sorry sir we haven't looked at it. End of the week maybe. read more

Service Dept Did Not recommend replacing any of the individual ignition coils. 1/22/2018 - Mileage 215558 - Cylinders Missing & Check Engine Lite, AVIS FORD finds two(2) bad Ignition coils $708 Labor & Parts. LARRY S. recommends replacing Fuel Pump and it's module. I decline. 1/23/2018 - Mileage 215590 - Cylinder(s) missing & Check Engine Lite, Hmmmm!? AVIS FORD finds another bad Ignition coil. LARRY S. recommends replacing the Catalytic Converter. I decline. Instead I directed them to replace the remaining 6 coils $858 Labor & Parts. LARRY looks dumbfounded... after all they diagnose low flow from fuel pump and a bad catalytic converter. MY EPIC 6 MONTH DISASTER WITH AVIS FORD On March 11, 2021, I purchased my 2020 hybrid ford escape (out of the warehouse) from Avis Ford in Southfield, MI, from salesman Jeremy Zumbrunnen, Internet Manager. One week following my purchase, my fiance and I had gone on a road trip up north to the UP, during our trip we experienced a complete malfunction of the vehicle's technology. We then were forced to the side of the road for over an hour, from which we called Ford's customer service to get us back on the road. After coming home, I reached out to Avis ford to get my car serviced as soon as possible, Jeremy then informed me that there was a rental shortage however since my vehicle was brand new he would be sure to make arrangements for me. Weeks had gone by, and I called the Ford Service department every week, I was continually reassured by multiple managers and associates I was still scheduled for service, as I had not heard a response, in so long. After five months had gone by the following malfunctions/ problems accumulated (knowing I have video and email and have reached out to Avis an inexcusable amount of times) When using remote start the engine rattles (mind you this is a hybrid, and the engine should not sound like a ticking time bomb). The sensor encasing the re-view mirror rattles as well. Multiple technologies fail. I have had to do a hard reset on the side of the road 3 times. The screens do that grey-scratchy thing--- all the time. The rearview mirror, stays on, for minutes at a time. Phone: no longer compatible. Not only with mine. (When using a hands-free device, the car will stop using Bluetooth technologies. Where I then have to go in and manually hit "handset" - then "Bluetooth" then "handset" again, then "Bluetooth" again. After completely wiping all ford compatibility with my phone and my husband, trouble still exists. BUT GUYS WERE JUST GETTING STARTED: So after six months of waiting to hear back from Jeremy, the service center, or anyone else at Avis ford, I finally called for the thousandth time to follow up on what I had thought to be my pre-existing service order. Around 5:45 PM miss Tammy answers the phone, and I cut right to the chase, asking to speak directly to the manager, she informed me he wasn't in, although I could leave a message. So quickly I asked if Jeremy was around, she mentioned she had seen him, however, he may have gone home for the night. SO, while she intentionally tried to put me on hold...she forgot to push the damn button. So, I sat back and listened to her talk all the crap about me while she was going through my chart, and how there was never a service order put in, and "why would I want to talk to Jeremy? and Everyone wants to yell and Larry..." Yada yada ya. And excuse me, miss I'm still right here. My god. The next morning, I felt relieved to hear from Larry Sirgany, although, it was one hit after another. - After six months there was never an order placed for my vehicle. -Every "manager" I had spoken to, was never a manager. -I have been on a fake waiting list. -People that have been taking my calls and not writing down any of my information/ concerns -I have even placed service emails online, where are these going? ......The list goes on, and on, and on. So what was Larry's plan of action: "I will personally come to your house and pick up your car, and bring it in for service," We have 2 rentals coming in next week." - So I thought heck yeah! I'm in school, I don't have time for this. So what happens when Monday rolls around, Larry and the rental are a no-show. - I call to reschedule, leave a voicemail asking where you at Larry, are we rescheduling this...I need my car fixed. Reminding you, I am now speaking to what I think is the "manager of the service department." And days later... again, no reply. So overall, I've waited six months, six months with a brand new ford escape out of the warehouse that has continuously malfunctioned week after week. All I'm trying to do here is get my vehicle fixed so I can have a safe and reliable vesicle to and from nursing school. I'm contacting you today to show there is no hospitality behind the unethical choices, reason, or judgment of any actions made by Avis Ford. All I'm asking is for some fricking customer service, respect, and consideration. I may have been your customer six months ago, although, that doesn't mean I am not your customer today. read more

Called regarding tire prices and appointments. They were busy but Ivan took my number & stated he'll call me back. I was shocked when he did. Explained how to use my Ford reward points and checked the best prices on a set of 4 tires. He followed up the next day once the tires arrived and it was a very smooth process upon arrival. SCAM, RIPOFF DEALER I ordered a Ford F150 Van from Troy Jackson and told him at time of order I was entitled to APlan Employee pricing . He said no problem. I waited 6 months and when the van arrived Jackson said it is not eligible for Employee pricing as it was a "commercial vehicle" in spite of the fact that I ordered in in my name and the financing was in my name. The Finance Manager Lori Barcelli ran my 800+ credit through what they said was Ally Financial and told me the interest rate was 3.9% . I contacted one of the owners Mark Douglas with reference to the Employee Pricing and he was of no assistance as he said his sales manager Roy Williams was in charge and said "it was commercial" . In the mean time I contacted Ford Finance and Ford Customer Service and no less than 6 Metro Detroit Ford dealers and every single one said the F150 van was eligible for employee pricing and was not considered "commercial" unless designated by the buyer as such.. I had no choice but to take the van as I waited 6 months and needed it . At delivery Troy Jackson said the credit was not Ally but Ford Credit and the rate was 6.9% instead of 3.9% he originally quoted. Again I had no choice, Jackson said "take it or leave it, we don't care" . This dealer used every deceitful, predatory trick in the sleazy car salesman book. If you want to get ripped off, go to Avis Ford, Mark Douglas and his crew will be sure to take good care of you ! read more
