Very poor service. Dropped car on Friday for service and was told someone would look at it on Monday or the latest Tuesday morning. It is now Thursday afternoon. No follow up on their end. Giving this a generous 3/5 stars. I'm hoping that lessons were learned after all the issues we had using our credit union for the car loan. I've never had such a hard time getting a car in the past. In the end, we got it done and my husband got the car he wanted. Personally, I did NOT like at all how my husband was spoken to on the phone. It was very very disrespectful but we wanted the car so we just took the rude communication. We were scrambling to make this work but being rude doesn't help ever. Sometimes when my husband asked a question and the immediate response was one thing (such as an abrupt "no way."). When he asked a clarifying question and they double checked, they would realize they were wrong and then give the correct info. When we were in person, everyone was fairly friendly. The boss did occasionally speak to us on the phone and he was very respectful and good. The main dealership was clean and the signing of documents was smooth. The person who helped with the paperwork was nice (which was appreciated because I was very upset about the events leading up to this). I feel like communication should have been much better. We did end up getting the car and my husband really likes it. We learned from this experience and hope they did too. read more

I'm not sure what happened but the service here has changed drastically and is not worth the time or money. I own a Lincoln MKZ that I purchased from another dealer of a competing brand but decided to come here because it was close and my family went here in the past. All Lincoln dealers promise a top tier experience, but you pay for something that could be done better at a Jiffy Lube or a neighborhood garage. I paid to have an oil change, tire rotation, and 60K mile service which includes a fuel additive, but left not even confident in the oil change. The service department opens at 8, I arrived and checked in at 8:30, and left at 10. The dealership was empty when I arrived with only one person before me but when I left it was crowded. My service report noted that I needed new tires and brakes were good for the moment but that would be required soon, and that I needed a new lever for the hood of my car. I specifically requested with my service advisor that my air filter be changed because it was old (and aftermarket), when I received my car and confirmed, my advisor said it wasn't changed because the technician said it was still good. He then proceeded to try to sell me a full set of tires and emphasized that I received a car wash. It was lightly snowing that morning, so the wash wasn't really urgent or necessary. I told him that I would be back for the tires. I lastly asked him if going forward if it were possible for me to bank my Lincoln Rewards points instead of using them on every visit, the advisor decided to explain to me how earning rewards worked and how he decided to just use them at every visit. I got in my car, and the sticker from my last oil change was stuck to the headrest of the passenger seat - stickers are a no-no on leather seats. I went home and checked my dipstick; there was fresh oil, however, my air filter was filthy. I removed it, and dust came out and then tapped it in the wall and more dust and leaves shook out of it. All of my fluids were low and near empty. I had to add washer fluid, coolant, and brake fluid to my car. I looked, and my tires were not rotated - I noticed this because one of my tires was a newer tire and it had not moved from its original location. I also had to add air to my tires as none of them had the same air pressure, two of the tires were under inflated and two were over inflated. The newer tire was missing the cap for the stem. I went to another Lincoln dealer and had the lever for my hood replaced, for less than half of what Star Lincoln quoted me. My air filter was actually changed - the dealer was puzzled as to why it has not been done earlier. Needless to say, I won't be back, not even for the tires, because why pay for someone to waste your money for two hours and to smile in your face while lying and not doing as you graciously ask and pay for? And why pay for something that you can't guarantee you will receive? I don't volunteer to waste money. Luxurious experiences require luxurious payments, but fleecing is not luxury. Took our 2020 Lincoln Navigator here to repair our running boards that were failing to retract. After charging me $200 to inspect the matter they said both motors had both failed at the same time and we needed both replaced for $3300. I said I thought it was odd that two separate motors would fail simultaneously, but the service person said that it was common. I took to YouTube and found that by using half a can of lubricant on each hinge and applying pressure to the board as it operated it could remedy the issue. It did. The Salesman - Rich - took time to really understood what I wanted in a car/SUV and then ordered that exact thing for me. He babysat the order and, as a result, was able to get my SUV in early. Since then I've had the car in for service 3x. Each time the experience has been superlative. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable Service Managers. Prompt pick up/drop off. Loaners when necessary. Fast service. Additionally, I had to use the concierge service and towing service over the holiday and that could not have been more efficient either. I am very happy with this business. read more

The service is pretty bad. Dropped off a car to get a simple fuse fixed at 10:30am. Called and emailed them to get an update, but no response for the entire day. They don't even pick up their phone. I get it if you are busy, but you should never be too busy to give a client a 30 second update since you are holding their vehicle with no loaner vehicles. read more

Purchased a used $40k SUV from them a few weeks ago. Got to the dealership around 9am, had me fill out paperwork and look at the car while it was in the mechanic bay being "inspected" and serviced. Finally got to test drive it 4.5 hours later. Panoramic roof lift arms broke during the test drive, obviously that wasn't inspected or tested during those 4.5 hours it was in the shop. Sat down with someone in finance who put some numbers in front of me that were in my payment range and was told that's what my payment would be only to find out at the end of the deal my payment was going to be $230 more because they quoted me a rate that was over 2% lower Than the national average at the time. drove 2 1/2 hours back the day after to pick the vehicle up since they had to fix the panoramic roof. The used car manager never apologized or offered any sort of incentive for all of the inconveniences and wasting quite a bit of my time. Only to get the vehicle home and realize a week later it has a pretty major coolant leak and now no one will return my phone calls or messages. He walked me towards the back where I handed Kellie her food. She then preceeded to contact doordash stating that I never arrived to give her her food that I would be see on camera handing her. Today was the day I was suppose to drive away in my very own MKZ, but it did not go has planned. I arrived at the dealership with money in hand, and highly motivated to purchase a MKZ this very day. I spoke with the used car salesman Drew whom I told exactly what I wanted a MKZ with dark interior and a pano roof, he took me right to a beautiful car that I asked to test drive, he said sure let me get a copy of your ID, the keys and I'll pull it around. My best friend was with me and my boyfriend (who is a bearded black man with tattoos, yet dressed professionally) showed up as he pulled the vehicle around. I introduced Drew the salesman to my boyfriend and thats when I was asked to produce registration and proof of insurance before I could test drive the car. I told them I didn't have insurance, I currently do not have a car and that's why I am here to purchase a car, and I was not going to buy this vehicle without test driving it first. Needless to say they lost a customer, I'll take my money to another Lincoln dealership. I've test drove plenty of vehicles before and never ever was I hassled for registration and insurance. When I test drove a brand new Cadillac at Suburban Cadillac of Troy they only asked for my drivers license. Before we left we asked a salesman at the new car side of Star Lincoln the test drive policy and was told they make a copy of your drivers license and put a dealer plate on the car and you are good to go. Normally when my car goes in for service I have them pick it up. This time I decided to go in since I thought it was something minor. I was told by the service person when I called that I did not have to make an appointment just come in. My 2 back tires were having a slow leak. So I took my car in, I arrived at 3:45pm. I was told by the service person Tim F. that it would not take long and I would be out pretty quickly. I went to the waiting service area. While sitting there I heard one of the service guys come out and tell the lady that was sitting next to me that she had 10 nails in her tire, I just looked and proceeded to wait. An hour and half later he comes and states that one of my tires had 10 nails in it, I said huh? Then I thought, this is what they just told the other lady. He said that they should be done soon. Waited a little longer and Tim comes back and stated that they did not have my tire and they would get me a loaner so that I can be on my way. While waiting for the loaner, I asked could I get my lunch bad and garage door opener out of my car. So he sent one guy to get the loaner and the other to retrieve my things. The guy that went to retrieve said I did not see it. I said it is on my seat, he asked what color is your car, I said Silver, he said oh, I was at the wrong vehicle. So he took back the loaner paperwork, and Tim said OH your car is almost done you will not need the loaner. I was waiting so long that every employee that went by asked if I had been help and what was going on. Finally after being there until 6:15 I got my car and no paper work. I will never go into this place for service again. It was the worst. Unorganized, and all around bad. The experience I had getting the car, and the service is 2 different experiences. Hello- Please note that I am not here to "bash" the Ford/Lincoln Motor Company or Star Lincoln, but I am here to share a review of my experience with my pre-paid lease on a 2015 Lincoln MKS. I feel that the Ford/Lincoln Motor Company could stand some improvement in their customer relations and Star Lincoln could as well. My sales agent was Mr. Paul Kuhn. In my opinion, Mr. Kuhn needs to find a line of work more suitable to his skill set. I found him to be disrespectful, his comments were not encouraging nor did they suggest that I was a welcomed customer. I pre-paid a lease for a 2015 Lincoln MKS ( a car that is no longer manufactured .... red flag there?) and received my car on January 14, 2016. The VIN number on this vehicle is as follows: 1LNHL9EK0FG607181. The car was wonderful, or so I thought. Its body was spacious and I loved the pearl color! It has a moon roof, and all of the "bells and whistles" anyone could want! But issues with the car arose. The car had electrical issues and unfortunately would shut off on me for no reason. I was stranded on several Metro Detroit roads for no reason, because the car would shut off and then turn back on. The first time the car was in the shop was on September 6, 2016 and was in the shop until October 20, 2016. I was indeed given a loaner, but the loaner was dirty on the inside, smelled of rotten food and there was a light on, on the dashboard, suggesting that there was a maintenance issue. The maintenance crew called the corporate offices of the Ford/Lincoln Motor Company to get assistance with the issue of my car and my car was eventually returned to me, fixed, or so we all thought. My car was out of the shop, but continued to give me issues. The car was back in the shop a second time on January 17, 2017 until January 25, 2017. Again, the car was stopping on me for no reason, and continued to be plagued with electrical hazards. What was the scariest , was being stranded on Telegraph near Ten Mile Road, in rush hour traffic. Again, Star Lincoln thought they fixed the issue. My car was back in the shop for a third time, on April the 15th. I was driving to my parents' grave to place flowers on it, in celebration of the Easter holiday. Needless to say, the car stalled on me on Middle Belt Road near Six Mile, in Livonia (my parents are buried in Livonia, not far from that intersection), but came back on with me being able to drive the car to Tim in the maintenance department, at Star Lincoln to get a loaner & leave my malfunctioning car there. My car was in the shop for about three weeks then, for this third time. I posted this information on Twitter, to Lincoln in an abbreviated form, and was given a "Lincoln Concierge" by the name of Tara Fisher. I found her polite, but not very helpful. It took time for her to designate the car a "Lemon" and work to issue me a refund. She promised to follow up with me via phone calls, but seemed to wash her hands of this ongoing issue and did not make contact with me further about this issue. Now in the midst of mid-June, it is now time to place flowers on my parents' grave again, with the Father's Day currently upon us, as I write this. I cannot tell you all how many tears I have cried over my treatment of the Ford Lincoln Motor Company as well as Star Lincoln. Currently, The Ford/Lincoln Motor Company, in my opinion needs to issue me a full refund for all of the money I gave them for this "Lemon" as it still has issues even to this day, after several repairs to the vehicle. I drove this "Lemon" to the maintenance department to share the latest issues and Damon from the maintenance department looked tired and taxed. He told me that he did not have any loaners and that the could attempt to look at my car AFTER Father's Day... the day I drove into the dealership was Saturday, June 10. Now why in the world is a maintenance department so busy and the maintenance liaison looking so tired and taxed? Also, in my opinion, there is no excuse for me to still be driving a car that still has the potential to be dangerous. With me living in the city of Detroit, my car insurance is well over $1700 for six months and I am frankly paying to drive an unsafe vehicle that has the potential to kill me. Again, I still do not have a refund. I would like a full refund. That seems to be the least this dealership/company can do. This has been my experience. I hope it is not yours. When I called for this dealer to buy a Lincoln continental car for my birthday,I talked with Tim Shea and he working in 3 days, after I downed payment and finish paperwork , I I was not informed of the delivery, I called for Tim Shea asking , he said call me back for delivery information but he didn't. Then he quiet and no answer my phone and my texts anymore. I picked up my brand new lease, within a week the dash rattled, the trim was lifting and there was a huge crack across the windshield. It was taken in for service, for a one day windshield repair and to fix the trim and rattle. We were informed it must have been "a bad day at the factory". It was returned to me a week later dirty, napkins in the cup holders, back seat that had never been used with smudges on it. Worst of all, my full tank of gas was down to 28 miles to empty, AND AN ADDITIONAL 600 MILES ON THE ODOMETER! I am so disappointed in my Lincoln experience. I called corporate customer service and they were no helped. They said the dealership would come fill my gas tank. I explained that if it is 600 miles each time they touch my car, I simply can't afford for them to drive it again. read more

Found my dream car here and was totally pumped to drive it away. so much so that the salesman never sat me in the car, offer a test drive, or explain the interior mechanics. When i requested the other one i was told to come and pick up. a week later all of a sudden there is no second key. I traveled 3 hrs NW to buy my Certified MkZ hybrid from Star. My 2011 MkZ hybrid (215,000 miles with EXCEPTIONAL performance) was totaled when a driver turned directly in front of me with NO VISION of my lane of on-coming traffic.... a 12' panel truck blocked her view. I credit God, all the air bags, the seat belt and the crumple zones for saving my life. The driver of the other car was not injured, thankfully. Tim, in the pre-owned department, proved ready to deal and won my business over another dealer 3 hrs SW of my home in Columbus, OH. Mike, the manager of the Pre-Owned business has proven a joy with whom to work. He has picked up the ball and run with it, despite LINCOLN having national shortages of parts. This is NEVER what a buyer of this brand name expects! With his help, Mike has proved me with Star treatment. The LINCOLN division of The Ford Motor Company should pat him on his back! I am grateful. I honestly thought the days of sexism were gone. I went to the service department because of low air pressure in my tires. The service rep was very attentive. Not only did he check the pressure in all four tires but he found a nail in one. With an honest look on his face he said it couldn't be repaired and a replacement tire would be $300. Since that was not in my current budget I went to Belle Tire and told them I needed to buy a new tire because the nail puncture could not be repaired. They wanted to take a look and afterwards determined that it could be repaired and would only cost $15. Star don't try to cheat your women customers!!! read more

He certainly said a lot of the right things, and is giving me hope that Star Lincoln is working to improve their service experience. Next time we're due for an oil change, we'll give Star Lincoln another shot... if the experience proves to be much improved, I'll be back here to share it. The fact that he reached out to address my concerns has caused me to increase the rating by one. 3 stars for sales - great guys, no pressure, very accommodating and laid back 0 stars for their service department - i will never go back there again. long story short - my engine light came on so i took it in, they called me and told me they cannot reproduce the problem so it doesnt exist (really???) they finally drove it three times to "feel" the problem. and finally found it, each time they drove it out they were increasingly ruder and condescending to me. Daymon was the service tech's name. i finally decided to take the car out of their shop because he was inexplicably rude to me, even though i was always very polite an professional on the phone.. he erased all the error codes (so my tech wouldnt have them).. and then proceeded to go on and on about how no one else will be able to fix my car. i would rather have an ape with chainsaw fix my car than daymon at star lincoln mercury. sorry guys, i really liked your sales dept, but this guy will lose you business over and over again. good luck, too bad, because i keep cars for 10 years and that is almost 10k you would have had guaranteed in your pocket from me if you screened your service techs better. boo. read more

I took my car to be serviced on 3/9/20, due to the check engine light being on. my arrival process went ok, but upon picking up my vehicle I waited for at least 15 minutes at the door not seeing any employees and no one was at the cashier area. I returned to the service area and still had to wait. Finally an employee asked if I needed any help. I had questions about my vehicle and it's hard to believe that NO ONE could answer questions on my over $300.00 repairs, and staff had already left? I requested that a supervisor or Daymon Wolfe call me. It is the next day after 11:00am and I still have not received a phone call. I had read previous reviews for Star Lincoln Southfield service department being poor for customer service. I need more work done and have questions but, maybe I need to find another Lincoln Dealership? My issue is not the work on my car, the job was completed and the issue was resolved. My issue is the men in the service department and the poor communication and the ability to explain details about your vehicle to female customers. read more

Service department 1 star. I was recently involved in a car accident and contacted Star Lincoln and spoke to Michael Brooks, a service advisor, who was not helpful but he was sarcastic. The car needed to be towed to the dealership from the point of the accident and stored in a place where it was covered because of the smashed windshield. Mr. Brooks told me to tell AAA to tow it to their lot-I explained they do not do have a lot. I explained to Mr. Brooks that it could rain and the inside of the car needs to be protected or it will be ruined. He told me "It was my problem" if the inside of car got wet. I always have difficulty with the service department. Lucky for me that I have always dealt with a great salesman whom I highly recommend, Louis Pierce. He will save you from the terrible service department. I called to report the incident to the manager, Mr. Mudge, left a voice mail; No response. I then called the owner, Mr. McInerney, who always advertises "how he cares about his customers and gives Star Treatment". He did not have the courtesy to return my call. Definitely not Star Treatment. He told Mr. Mudge to answer the call. Obviously he does not care about his customers. Customer service in the service department is a huge problem at this dealership. Only the sales personnel and Dan Wade, Body Shop manager, can be trusted and has value. Moral of the story: If you buy your car at this dealership because of the terrific sales department go elsewhere for service. read more

My husband and I need to buy a new car before we move. We found two used MKZs at Star Lincoln that we were very serious about. We were planning to buy one if it passed an independent mechanic's inspection (We were concerned because our first choice had a dead battery when we went to find it on the lot...). The independent mechanic (very trustworthy) found that it needed new rear brake rotors/pads and that there was a significant transmission leak. They discovered the transmission leak simply by removing the shield that covers the bottom (it was wet). We took it back to the dealer and asked if we could take our second choice in to the independent mechanic because we had lost faith in our first choice. We also asked if they would cover the cost of the inspection since the first one failed. Their response was, "We can either have our mechanics fix the brakes and transmission since it's still under warranty, or, we'll pay for the inspection of the second car but only if you buy it. We can't just be cutting $100 dollar checks." They also offered to do the inspection of the second car themselves, which of course we had no interest in for several reasons - 1) In my opinion, they should have had their mechanics check the cars BEFORE they attempted to sell them, and 2) If they had, they would have easily seen the problems that the independent mechanic found. Which says to me that this dealership either doesn't take pride in the cars they sell and/or they aren't trustworthy. Furthermore, if their mechanics did look at the car before putting it up for sale, they must be incompetent. In sum, we're extremely disappointed in this dealership and will not be buying one of their cars, now or in the future. read more
