I had a late arrival flight, when I got to the desk to rent my car that I had booked a couple weeks in advance, they informed me they could not rent to me because I was on the do not rent list. I was told, nothing I can do, I can't give you a car because it looks like something is in collections and you aren't current on your payments. I asked if it was this facility or in all the U.S., I was told nationwide. I was provided a phone number to call, along with a reservation number that pit me on the do not rent list and told, you aren't getting it resolved tonight, you will need to find a different way around. I informed the guy that I thought that was weird, and asked if he was sure because three days prior I had just rented in a different location, and a month prior to that as well with no issues. I was told, everything matches your license to the T. I can't help you. Next morning I called the number he gave, and they informed me that I was NOT on the list, and that the reservation I was provided also was not tied to my name and I should have been able to pick up the car. I called the local rental place and informed them what corporate said and I was asked to come in to see what they could do (mind you, I had no car yet). I ended up renting a vehicle at a different rental agency, away from the airport. When I arrived and spoke with the lady, she looked and said, I don't see you on the do not rent list. I think the guy last night looked at the system wrong, ir Was an honest mistake. Honest mistake it may have been, but a few things here: 1. I'd like to point out that the guy was not "nice" or "quiet" about it either. others standing around could hear everything, and everyone was staring at me. Quite embarrassing when I wasn't in the mist in the first place. 2. I was offered no advice to get to my location at 1:00a.m. 3. He did not slow down or take a second look at the screen to see if he made an error. 4. He did not show or inform me as to why I was on the list, even though I just got down renting a car 3 days prior. 5. Next day, when it was confirmed I was not on the list, I was not provided anything for my troubles. Nothing for having to wait at an hour at the airport waiting for a taxi to come get me and paying more money out of my pocket for the taxi, nothing for my time I had to spend trying to figure out why I was on the do not rent list, which I wasn't on it. nothing for having to pay another taxi to go to a different rental agency to get a car to go back to Avis and talk with them. 6. Since I was forced to not rent at Avis, I had to cancel my reservation that occurs cancellation fees if not done in a reasonable time. 7. I then had to send an email off to customer service to make sure they won't charge me fees, more time stolen from me. I have yet to see if I will be charged for a car i had to cancel because they refused to rent to me. I would never rent from Avis if it were up to me. However, because it's a business trip, I am forced to use them. Now I have a different dilemma in which I have to retain all objective evidence to file a claim through my company so I can get reimbursed for the car I did get. Yesterday I picked up a car from MSP and drove to Eau Claire for work. Went out this morning and a tire was low. Of course, we didn't pay for roadside assistance. So I called the local Avis office and she was a pleasure to deal with. She said she would check it out or just get me in a new car. I got to the location, she was very pleasant and got me in a new car (with an upgrade) easy peasy. If I lived in Eai Claire and had a need for a rental, I would definitely use them again. read more

I cannot give Avis even 1 star! We rented a car initially out of Minneapolis on December 23, 2020; however with the snowstorm our flight was cancelled with a new flight landing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I changed my car rental at the last moment. We arrived in Milwaukee moments before the Avis Service Desk was scheduled to close. My husband left my kids and I behind and ran to collect the car keys. No review of contract or inspection of vehicle being done, just keys handed over. We gathered our luggage and went to the parking garage to look for our car. Again, no attendant on site to even check us out of the garage. It was after 9:00pm, dark and snowy driving to Eau Claire, WI. Roads were slippery and icy with heavy snow the entire drive, but hours later made our way. The next morning as we went out to use our "rental" my daughter noticed the back tire was flat. My husband began inspecting all of the tires. All of the tires were completely bare. Absolutely NO TREAD!! What kind of company rents a vehicle in this condition and especially this weather? Oh that's Avis. The exciting part is after numerically to customer service we finally located a new vehicle to trade with what we had been given. The hitch? We were billed after the fact for the Emergency Roadside!! What? I contacted Avis and they indicated because we didn't purchase the insurance we are responsible? We are responsible for 4 Unsafe and Bald Tires?! Who does this? How is this legal let alone ethical? We weren't calling to change our tire, we couldn't drive this vehicle being there wasn't any tread and I'm not exaggerating no tread in the snow! I refuse to pay Avis. I will never rent from them again obviously and I will be working up the chain with my complaint. Advice: Demand an inspection prior to taking the keys! They are horrid! read more

If I could rate this location zero, I would. We picked up a car, I notice a beeping sound. I drive around the parking lot, (making sure both seat belts were fasten). Beeping kept happening every two minutes. We return to the rental desk, literally after only driving around the parking lot. My husband inform the employee about the beeping noise. The employee drove the car around the parking lot, agree there was beeping noise. Played with the controls, then said he had stopped the beeping noise but was unsure what caused yet. Ok, fine, we drive a half hour away to begin our trip. I then decide to turn the air down from 85. Turns out the beeping was from the coolant being low. After pulling over and calling budget, we were told we had to return to the rental office. After getting to the office, we are now delay three hours, with a 8 hour drive ahead of us. When I complain about this, I was yelled at by the employee. To the point that I walk out crying. I will never be renting from budget again. read more
