TL;DR: My experience at this Avis suggests quite strongly that the agent here - who also appears to be the owner - is dishonest, tacking on unwarranted additional charges. Since there are plenty of options in the area, I see no reason to rent from here again. Full details: I rented a car from this Avis location, declined the fuel option and agreed to return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel it had at the start of the rental period. The agent/owner reminded me of this during the vehicle inspection before I left. I returned the car with the same amount of fuel - or perhaps a bit more - than it had upon pickup. The agent/owner specifically asked "and you refueled the vehicle?" to which I said yes. He inspected the car, seemingly found everything in order, charged my card on file, and I left. Upon returning home I noticed a $13.99 "Under 75 mi flat fee" was added. This was not disclosed anywhere or discussed at any time - not when I picked up the car, nor when I returned it. Reviewing the rental agreement and Avis' website, it appears they have an "EZFuel" program* where a $13.99 flat fee is added if you do NOT return the car with the fuel replenished. Of course that did not apply in my case, yet I was still charged this amount, even though the agent/owner confirmed I did refuel the vehicle, both in asking me and is his own visual inspection. It seems pretty clear to me that this guy was trying to sneak the $13.99 fee past me, which I find deplorable - I don't know how one could interpret the events differently. Under no circumstances would I recommend renting from this specific Avis location - customer trust and respect should be worth more than $14 bucks. Unfortunately, the response from Avis Corp. was underwhelming as well. While they credited back the amount in question, they also treated this issue as though I were at fault, saying "I apologize if you were unaware of this program." Of course, my awareness of this program is irrelevant since I returned the vehicle full of gas as required to avoid the charge. I ordered a car for a pick-up from the Wickliffe, Ohio location. I got there and they did not have a car that I ordered, mind you, ordered 4 weeks in advance!!! The front desk man, the owner, stated if I wanted the type of car that I ordered that I had to drive one of his cars out to an airport and swap it out, which was 45 mins in the opposite direction which put me 1.5 hours + behind and missed a deadline. I have a preferred membership and do not expect this kind of service, I didn't when I used Enterprise, I will be transferring all of our company business to Enterprise! Needed a car to get to Detroit airport, price was awesome and so was the local rep. picked up right on time at 8 am. car was brought around front for me and I was on my way. I had a little hiccup with the bill but once I called it was squared away easily and within minutes everything was back to normal. Definitely will use this place again. read more

I used Budget 2 weeks ago in Ga and have always used them when traveling out of state. My car broke down this weekend and I went to the location on Euclid Ave. next door to Avis. "GRANT" the employee that's there M-F told me I needed a utility bill that matched my license in order to get the rental with my debit card. I used my credit card instead in which he told me I need my marriage license since my ID didn't match my card. I paid for a Midsize SUV and he tried to put me in a compact SUV. I told him he was ignorant for trying to play me like I'm stupid and he goes on to tell me I was trying to give you something with less mileage. Ummm excuse me sir but who gives a flying f* on the mileage of a rental?! He then proceeds to tell me how he used to have the Honda HRV and how good it . Worst customer service I have EVER experienced in my life. The man at the desk was very rude and gave us the run around and made it difficult to get our rental. His store is disgustingly dirty. It clearly hasn't been cleaned in months. We left and found a rental somewhere else. Paying more was better than being treated poorly. I will make sure I tell everyone who is looking for car rentals to go to enterprise. We were in and out within 10-15 minutes. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS MAN!! read more

I had a 3 day rental on the return day I go out to the car to grab lunch and the tire was flat I checked the back for a spare no spare in sight(HOW CONVIENT) so I called the rental office and informed them of the issue because (it was 1:30 pm and the check in time was 5:20 pm) they instructed me to contact road side assistance... I contacted the RSA and they decided to come pick up the car and give me a replacement rental within 2 hrs. Keep in mind I am at work while this is happening and I get of at 4:30 and the rental location closes at 6 pm. I call the rental office back a couple times to keep them up on what's happening. The woman at this location tells me don't worry I wont be charged an extra day if the tow truck takes to long and they close. THE TOW TRUCK NEVER COMES I NEVER RECIEVE MY REPLACEMENT RENTAL. I figure it out and use an electric air pump from my EMPLOYMENT security. I get the car driving and drop it off at the car place while its closed. In the Moring I go back to return the keys. I explain everything to the man at the counter ( he refused to give me his name) he tells me that he is charging me for the extra day and that its not his problem that if I want a refund call customer service and tells me oh well its out of his hands.The owner at this location is very rude. The man did not even want to provide me his name OR HIS CO WORKER. I WILL NEVER TO BUISNESS WITH AVIS BUDGET AGAIN. read more
