We were left without a vehicle on the day of our trip because "they didn't bring the vehicle due to lack of phone number." However, I had a confirmation number AND spoke to the supervisor at that location a month ago (not the generic customer service line) to verbally confirm that I could pick up the vehicle an hour earlier than the original scheduled time. Rented in sc and dropped off in york. Car was in perfect condition my husband met me for pick up looked the car over (we were looking for a new car) started it up and so no tire light on dash panel. Just received a letter charging me 85.00 for tire light on and to put air in tire, very disappointed how Avis makes extra money! read more

I prepaid using my debit card called n needed to extend the date the lady that answered phone told me they would not give me the car if I don't have a credit card. i posted a review on google someone responds from he company saying they would help me. long story short they wasted my time. when I went in the lady at the counter did not give me the car she looked at my license had me put my card that I used to Pa in the machine telling me I had to pay the deposit using the same card I used to reserve the car with only to tell me I don't have a credit card and they wouldn't rent me a car the lady wrote a 1800 number on the card telling me I need to call them for a refund. read more

To start, I am an Avis Preferred member, and have been for almost 20 years, and have Never had any issues until 11/2024. I arrived to pickup the full-size vehicle that I reserved. The car they gave me had a strong smell of cigarette smoke combined with the cleaning solution they use to get rid of the cigarette smell. As a datapoint, this has happened at other Avis locations and it is no more than a 15 second conversation before they begin the process to put me in another car. When I asked for a different car in this scenario, the lady working the counter came out and smelled the car. She then stated that she didn't smell anything, and because she didn't smell anything, I could not have a different car. She continued to argue with me and she challenged me multiple times regarding the smell in the car. I then pointed to the lot full of Avis cars, asking if I could have one of those. She responded by telling me that she was out of cars. I told her the "Cars were right there". She responded stating that they were reserved for other Customers. After several minutes of additional arguing, she called her manager. Within about 30 seconds, her manager told her to give me a different car. She then told me to go park the old car and to bring the new car up while she did the paperwork. The second car was better than the 1st, but it was an intermediate car - not the full size that I had reserved. I decided to cut my losses & move on. When I returned the vehicle the same lady was working. After she checked the mileage and told me to go park the vehicle, I gave her a pair of sunglasses that the previous renter had left in the vehicle (these were $180 Ray Ban Aviators). She took them, put them in the back office, and proceeded to sit down and watch things on her phone. Am I being too particular, or should she have immediately called the previous renter to let them know that their nearly $200 pair of sunglasses were found? All-in, this was a wildly unpleasant Experience. I have rented from this location several times and I have rented from Avis many dozen times and have never been treated with such disrespect or disregard. The Employee in question is going to cause this location to lose Customers. Based, on the reviews I have seen, it already has. Sadly, it appears that the owners don't seem to care. read more

The female behind the counter should never be in Customer Service or any position dealing the public she was rude she started putting Airpods in her ear and playing on her phone in the middle of me and my brother in law were talking she was not willing to do anything for us. When we first came in and she was talking to her male co-worker about Sexy Red calling her a Queen I should have realized what type of person I was dealing with. Do not rent a car from this location. They accepted a reservation for a premium suv and then when I arrived they only had a Chevy traverse. I needed this size vehicle to transport work supplies. It wasn't just a preference. They told me to drive the car up to Harrisburg airport to get the car I wanted. When I arrived at the Harrisburg Avis they said they could not exchange a car. They said the york office is awful and they always do this to people. I had no choice but to drive the car back to york. I had to then cancel and rent from someone else. read more

Came in Saturday morning for my prepaid rental. The office is FILTHY and the line is out the damn door. There are 9 people in line and ONE person working here. Each customer is taking 15 mins to process. Rediculous!!!! Im going to miss my flight over this crap service. Use Enterprise from now on. I will never book with this company again. The office attendant was 35 minutes late to open the office, delaying my trip to see my family for Christmas. The hours clearly state that the office opens at 9:00AM but the office attendant rudely told us that we do not get to determine when she gets to work and she didn't have to rent us a car if she didn't want to. The driver seat movement functionality was broken in the first car received. The second car had no gas, while we had paid to receive a full tank to start. Overall an hour and a half delay and we had to buy our own gas. read more

This was one of the best experiences with renting a car. The owner and staff are friendly, knowledgeable and definitely helpful. My car was clean and ready to go when I got there. The price is exactly what they quoted me for. They do have a drop off key box now as the previous owner didn't. When checking out, it was quick, easy and done in less than 5 minutes. They even drove me back home when my ride said they couldn't make it. I will definitely rent from Avis again when I need another rental! Thanks so much for making the so easy and pleasant. read more

I suggest no one EVER use this site to rent a vehicle. First they started off by not having an SUV like we were promised. The very rude attendant said we should just deal with the sedan he was trying to give us even though we are going on a long distance vacation. Finally he finds a mini van. We arrived at the location and it is very dirty on the inside. It is clear that it has not been swept or mopped in weeks. Once inside and again dealing with the very rude attendant on duty tells me they cannot take debit cards and i must have a major credit card even though it says online you CAN use a debit card. This man is a fraud and this site should be shut down. I will never use Avis again after this interaction and they should shut this site down! read more
