I have been renting from this Avis location for years. I am a frequent visitor here at Pensacola (3 children have attend college here over the years) I see all the "customer service" comments from others ... and those are focused on the counter. I have had SEVERAL times where I needed help changing a vehicle for issues and NEVER had them not help me. Last night I rented a full size vehicle ...and as I packed the car ... realized the car didn't have enough room for all the college son's items. I went back to the airport (at 9:30pm) and told the agent (Donovan) my situation. His reply "let me see what I can do for you". There was no pushback and he quickly looked at what he had in stock. He looked at my preferred account and was able to upgrade to a larger vehicle because they had one in stock (mind you when I got the vehicle at 11:00am-I was told no because at that time they didn't have any available and were very very busy). This is only one story of how they helped me. Last night was such a save for me. I had to leave a review. Are the lines long ...yes. Avis gives cheaper rentals from what I see here at Pensacola (or maybe it is because they are linked with Budget). Have I ever got a dirty vehicle...once, and was able to exchange it before leaving the garage. But customer support....5 stars. Donovan is not the only helpful person I have had interaction with ... other agents and garage techs are great. Does the counter get "flooded" when planes de-board ... yes, but I have never had them be "not nice or not helpful". read more

Incompetent. They have only been issues the whole rental term. Upon returning the car, the lady kept telling me I was responsible for this other person's rental when I did not know them and was not under my name. They don't talk to each other and are poorly trained. I explained I had a long-term rental but they didn't understand the dates. Avoid Avis. Worst customer service. read more

I'm a preferred member and booked my reservation a month in advance. I travel weekly for work. They didn't have a record of my reservation and it took an hour to get a dirty car. There was zero attentive customer service. The lines were extremely long and I will never rent with them again. I made my reservation a month in advance & my car was not ready. I had to stand at the "priority booth" and watch person after person walk up and just get their keys and go. When I asked why this happened, the response was simply "This happens." Not a good answer. When I finally got my vehicle, it looked like it had been through a riot. Not a single window or panel was clear of scratches & also had damage to the left rear. Very embarrassing. I'm unhappy with the service and level of vehicle. Does Avis define economy: total piece of ? Not sure at this point. My rental back in January had a wheel so out of balance, it felt like the wheel was going to fall off. Please do better. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Think and shop around and don't even use this place as a last resort if you are expecting any kind of convenience or customer service or value for your money, worse after a long day of travel. Its poorly run, disorganized and the staff are rude. And to top it off after waiting for more than an hour get our rental, the car was not even properly cleaned. My husband rented a car with Avis for our family vacation several months ago. We need 2 car seats, so we booked in advance and double checked our reservation multiple times. Today our flight was delayed on the tarmac for several hours. After an already really long day with 2 toddlers, we got to Avis and were given the keys to a car with no car seats. He was told "sorry they're all gone" and the sales woman walked away from the counter. He tried to get her to help us with options, and she was rude and unhelpful. I am incredibly disappointed with how Avis handled the situation and after being told "that's just how it works" I highly doubt we'll rent from them again. read more

I was greeted and helped by the nicest young lady. She was very helpful and got me on my way quickly to my rental car. This Avis Renta Car counter is easily accessible from the baggage claim area in the Pensacola airport. Finding the kiosk in the parking garage area was simple as well. Like the nice young lady at the counter told me...walk out the double sliding doors, walk across the marked crosswalk and in the garage area make a left and there it is. Real-time review... Been waiting in line now for 45 minutes, after a flight that two hours late/delayed. Line wasn't that long to start with. Clerk is incredibly slow. Almost seems purposely slow. I rented a car in Pensacola on October 16, 2023 with a credit card at 10:45 PM. Within two hours I was advised of an unauthorized use of that card. I had to cancel the card and change several auto pay accounts. I forgot my internet account and got canceled on it. The problems had to start with the Avis charge, since it was the only use of my card for an extended period of time. I will not use Avis again. read more

I requested a smoke free car. I took a car that had a slight smell of smoke thinking if I opens the windows and ran the air conditioner it would dissipate. Not. My clothes smell like smoke. I took it back for an exchange and was told everything was booked. No help at all. I tried to call customer service but couldn't get through. Bad customer service. I don't know what happened since the last time I rented a car, but I will never be renting from Avis again. It used to be a smooth process where you signed your papers, and received the keys and location to the car so you could be on your way. It turned out to be over an hour process, people were receiving dirty cars that were waiting in line with me and people that came way after us, were served first . Terrible customer service by a nasty woman. Demanded I hand my credit card and ID over to her in her hand. After 10 hours of travel I just habitually put the card and ID on the counter. She looked at me and said in my hand please. I then put it in her hand and was visibly annoyed and she said she would not help me wait for the next agent. I am sensitive to mental health issues but they cannot interfere with service. Obviously something was off as her colleague stated this was typical behavior and I wasn't the first and "Won't be the last". He was great but damage done. Absolute train wreck of an operation. I reserved my car for noon. Got to the counter area on time and then waited over half an hour. The line of people was all the way to the back wall and wrapping around. There was no line at the other rental counters. Finally got my paperwork, went to the garage and was told it would be another half hour wait. There are no seats available. read more

This Avis location at Pensacola Airport is rough. The guy at the front desk was nice and accommodating. However, the people working in the garage were not professional at all. Cars were spread out all over the place, people were waiting 15-20 in the garage for their cars, and the person running the show was soo rude. Update: I contacted Avis on the first say of my rental to tell them about the car smelling so bad. He said I could return it and get another. I was there for a conference so there was no way I could drive 40 min each way to return it and miss my conference. He offered me a "one day free" coupon which ok is better than nothing. Only to find out since I prepaid for my rental they "can't give me one of the days free" since I already prepaid for it. So the coupon is useless unless I were to rent from them again which definitely won't be happening after renting a homeless locker room smelling car. read more

Worst customer service I have ever dealt with. Will never work with them again. They totally try and rip you off! I just wanted something simple just to help me get settled as I was in the middle of a PCS to the Pensacola air station. As a member of the service I really didn't appreciate what they did. Service was great. Everyone was super helpful and friendly. They held my reservation after my flight was 5 hours late. The car is clean and full of gas and in great shape. The options I was given were limited to a KIA or a Hyundai but that probably had alot to do with the time of day. Thumbs up!! read more

This review is NOT about the AVIS location in Pensacola, FL. I have never used them. It is about the AVIS (800) 352-7900 Customer Service Helpdesk. I had to call back 4 times and they still did not fix my simple problem. I get it, AVIS Customer Service is OUTSOURCE. My wife's original language is Portuguese, so I am very patient with people whose 1st language is not English. But they kept telling me it was all fixed and letting me get off the phone. They kept making mistakes, talking over me, and then were not able to fix a problem they created. I had a U.S. Government Rental and the last representative said the only way they could apply my Preferred Customer Rental was to charge me more. What??? Totally unacceptable! I want everyone to know how poorly Avis.Com treats their customers. I almost had to beg one representative to stay online with me ... to make sure they got the information correct. I get it, it is based on speed for these people, so I let her go, and it was still goofed up. I was just trying to update my profile information - simple, I thought. Came to desk where there was no attendant. Waited for a while with a group of customers and finally decided to walk outside. There, I found another group of customers waiting. Once again AVIS fails to understand and replies with a cold and inhuman response. Avis tied up funds that were desperately needed during a time of crisis. Avis provided false hope to a family in need during the aftermath of hurricane Sally here in Pensacola. Avis has yet to apologize for their horrendous fault and misleading promise to be there. This is a case of negligence. Avis stated that their location was open to rent a car and that prepaying for the reservation would allow easy and quick pickup to aid my family during a declared weather-related state of emergency. Not only was the location was closed but Avis kept my much-needed money to provide for my family. Avis needs to take some accountable for their gross error and act with some integrity.
