I had a vehicle reserved through Avis for a business trip, and the entire experience started off terribly. The employee at the rental location arrived 45 minutes late to work, which caused a delay in my reservation and made me late to important meetings. During that time, nobody answered the phones at the location, and the Avis 800 support line was completely unhelpful. One representative told me to wait another 10 minutes, then another told me to wait 15 more because the employee was "possibly in a staff meeting." Meanwhile, employees from neighboring rental companies openly stated this person is late every day. Once I finally received the car, no one came out to inspect or walk the vehicle with me. To make matters worse, the car had no windshield wiper fluid at all, so I had to purchase some myself during my trip. The employee was kind once they finally arrived, but kindness does not excuse repeated tardiness and the lack of professionalism throughout this experience. For a company that caters heavily to business travelers, reliability and communication should be basic expectations. read more

If I could give a negative rating, I would. The customer service I experienced at the Avis counter was beyond disappointing. I had booked a car through them and was supposed to pick it up today at 5 pm. Their policy clearly states that they hold reservations for two hours. I arrived at 6:30 pm (check the airport surveillance cameras) -- well within the two-hour window -- but the staff member at the counter insisted I was a no-show and claimed that her system had already shut down. I explained that I had a doctor's appointment early the next morning, which took me three months to secure, and that I had to leave tonight. I even arranged with my boss to leave early today and take tomorrow off just to make it to this appointment. Instead of assisting me, she lectured me about how I should have called. I was unable to call due to being stuck in transit, but I still made it within their two-hour window. To add insult to injury, she mentioned that they could give the car to anyone, which defeats the purpose of making a reservation. I thought the whole point of a reservation was to hold the car. All I could think of is how I hope she never has to go through what I did. If she ever finds herself in an emergency situation, I would hope she's treated with more understanding and accommodation than I was. This experience has made me question if I will ever rent from Avis again. I might just be one nobody customer, but it's disappointing to be treated with such disregard. read more

I have been going to both Avis' in Waco frequently for about 3 years. They always take care of me, and they go out of their way to ensure I have the rental I need. Elvie and Josh are the best, you can't ask for better customer service from any of the staff. They make travel easy, and have saved me a lot of headache. Every once in a while the rentals have some minor issues, but those are one ways from DFW, Austin, or out of state. They do a great job keeping up with the rentals they have and are quick to assist me with whatever issues arise. read more

Waco Airport Avis Cat Rentals. Waited an hour and 45 minutes to pick up my reserved vehicle. Only one person working. 7 people waiting for over an hour and a half. Agent was rude and not helpful. No apologies. Slammed keys and made all kinds of signing like we were bothering her because we were here to pick up our reservations on time. Enterprise next to them was efficient and friendly as we watch client after Enterprise client receive their vehicles. Definitely a huge disparity between the two companies and how they treat their customers. Maybe Avis needs to look into customer service training and hire another person to help. This will probably be the last time I rent from them. My experience at Hertz was fast, friendly, and efficient last week. I unfortunately can only give one star and not a negative star. read more

If I could give zero stars I would, we had 6 people and we reserved a mini van a week in advanced. And we showed up and they had no car for us. The only have 5 seater cars. I mistakenly came directly here and didn't have time to adjust ... the female agent at Avis actually offered to return the keys on my behalf to the other car rental company and allow me to make my flight ! If I could give no stars I WOULD. I reserved a mini van for my family 4 months before vacation. My husband kept saying he had a feeling they would not have a car. So he had me call every week for last 4 weeks. Each time I was told "yes ma'am, we have your reservations for a van & we will have it for you". Guess what. 24 hrs before we are to pick up van they call saying they had no vans. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING. DID I WANT A REFUND THEY ASK. BEWARE! Rented a car from Avis airport location in Waco online. I prepaid for 7 days. Just as I was about to go pick it up, got a call telling me that they didn't have a car avail. but their other Waco location did - so I went there instead. Rented a minivan (yuk). I explained to Jennifer that I might not need it for the whole week and I might need it longer. I was unsure because my car broke down and was at the dealership for an undetermined amount of time. Jennifer said , no problem! Just bring it back early and they'll credit any unused days or just call and let them know if I needed it longer. Ok... makes sense, right? My dealership came up with a loaner vehicle for me so I returned the rental 2 days early expecting a credit. No-one was there when I dropped it off (normal business hours, sign said they were open but the door was locked) I waited a while and then dropped the key in the return box. The next day, I called looking for a receipt and to see if credit was issued. Nope! No credit! Apparently, Jennifer had amnesia and doesn't recall promising credit. They're telling me that the fine print states that if you prepay, you don't get any credit for returning early, I sure would have kept it and drove the crap out of it if I had been told this. Instead I was lied to and deceived. It's over $100 that they scammed me out of. Never, ever again! read more

I waited nearly 25 minutes before someone showed up at the counter to confirm my pre-reservation (booked on Priceline). Jessica finally showed (no apology, no greeting) as I was on the phone with corporate Avis (who encouraged me to "call the front desk" -- at which I was standing... with no human representative before me). I mistakenly had not brought the correct credit card, and thus had to cancel the reservation--but I had to find this out through a lengthy call with corporate headquarters. Jessica was not helpful, pleasant, apologetic or seemingly interested in alleviating any concerns whatsoever. I rebooked with Enterprise (on Jack Kultgen Expressway) and had zero issues whatsoever--in fact, one of the gentleman I worked alongside said he was at the airport before he moved to that location and he wasn't sure how the airport location was still open, that they routinely have such dissatisfied customers. I received an upgrade at the same price Avis was charging, and was in and out in less than 10 minutes. I highly recommend going elsewhere--will never pursue working with Avis again. read more

NEVER RENT FROM AVIS! I have learned my lesson. This company wants to rob you of money for absolutely no reason. I rented a car on 4/20/18 at the location on Military Drive in San Antonio, Texas in order to go home to Waco, Texas. The MANAGER of that location told me that I rented the car for the day and to return it back to the Waco location the next day by 9:15 am and if they were closed I could leave it in the dropbox. The next morning I woke up, called the Avis customer service number to verify I can drop off since the Waco location is closed until 10am Saturdays and then I filled up the tank. I dropped off the vehicle at 9:12 am and took photos of the car. I went inside the Waco airport and dropped off the keys in the drop box at the desk since they were closed. Everything was done correctly and on time. Two days later I check my credit card and Avis triple charged me on my card. I called and they claimed I did not fill up my car and that I returned the car late since it was checked into their system at 10:36 am the next day. I called and tried to speak with them and told them I called and verified everything and that I had evidence I filled up the car and that the Waco location was closed but accepts after hours drop off. The worker kept going in circles telling me that Waco does not accept that. I called the Waco Avis and they once again said yes they accept after hour returns. Avis is a complete NIGHTMARE to work with. Please save your time and money and do NOT rent from these thieves. I will never use them again. This is the absolute WORST customer service and they are just there to steal money and lie. AGAIN DO NOT RENT FROM AVIS. This has been an utter nightmare and they are a poorly ran company. read more

Good Lord, what a miserable operation, no concept of customer service or politeness to renters. Jennifer needs to find another job, has a terrible disrespectful attitude. Why would Avis hire unfriendly, rude, queen-b***h discourteous people like this, are they that desperate? Their after-hours message machine did not record my call, according to her, that I had dropped off my car in the middle of the night, telling her which stall it was in. These morons do not have the simple common sense to install a key drop box OUTSIDE the terminal lobby, which closes at 12 midnight. So if you are dropping off a car late, they expect you to go out of your way and come back in the morning, instead of just installing a drop box in the parking lot (which return trip for you could be an hour drive or more, given that this is a rural area.) This is not rocket science, this is simple common sense, and the manager of this Avis location is too stupid, too incompetent, and too utterly indifferent to customer needs. Avis used to be a top-notch company, now it's just a sad shell of a disorganized, confused and third-rate outfit. Disgraceful screw-you attitude from these people!! read more

DO NOT RENT FROM AVIS WACO AIRPORT ACT LOCATION!!!! #OhioGirlsGoneWaco Girls weekend away in Waco! Everything was great until................AVIS Waco Airport ACT happened on our last day!! On August 31, 2017, I rented a car from AVIS to be picked up at the Waco Airport ACT Avis to get us from Waco back to Dallas for a flight home for October 2, 2017. My car was prepaid and was supposed to be waiting for us at the Waco airport. When we arrived at 3:30, Monday, October 2, 2017 I was told because I wasn't there by noon that he didn't have a car for me. I said what happened to my car?!? The guy said because I wasn't there by noon he gave my car to the 1:30. So NO car for you. :( He didn't offer any help. And when I asked what should I do he pointed to the other 2 car rentals right next to him (Enterprise and Hertz) and said maybe they can help you!! Of course they didn't have any cars available to help us out. My rental was from Noon October 2 in Waco TX until Noon October 3 in Dallas, TX. Nobody said we had to be there by NOON to pick up our rental car. Nor was it in the small print of the terms and agreement! The AVIS office at Waco Airport ACT was opened until 6:30 that day. When I asked if I would be getting my money back he said I could call AVIS and cancel and get a refund for the price I paid for the car. Didn't offer me that number to do so until I ASKED FOR IT. I just wanted the CAR I rented!!!! So that left 4 women scrambling frantically trying to fix a problem we did not anticipate nor create. Bottom line is this..........They took my money to pay(in August) for a car to be waiting for us in their lot until we picked it up on October 2. IT WAS MINE! Not the 1:30. I paid for it. If I didn't show up to pick up my car, that was just money in their pocket! I showed up and NO CAR! SHAME ON YOU!! BAD, BAD BUSINESS! read more
