    I had a vehicle reserved through Avis for a business trip, and the entire experience started off…read moreterribly. The employee at the rental location arrived 45 minutes late to work, which caused a delay in my reservation and made me late to important meetings. During that time, nobody answered the phones at the location, and the Avis 800 support line was completely unhelpful. One representative told me to wait another 10 minutes, then another told me to wait 15 more because the employee was "possibly in a staff meeting." Meanwhile, employees from neighboring rental companies openly stated this person is late every day. Once I finally received the car, no one came out to inspect or walk the vehicle with me. To make matters worse, the car had no windshield wiper fluid at all, so I had to purchase some myself during my trip. The employee was kind once they finally arrived, but kindness does not excuse repeated tardiness and the lack of professionalism throughout this experience. For a company that caters heavily to business travelers, reliability and communication should be basic expectations.

I had booked a car through them and was supposed to pick it up today at 5 pm. Their policy clearly states that they hold reservations for two hours. I arrived at 6:30 pm (check the airport surveillance cameras) -- well within the two-hour window -- but the staff member at the counter insisted I was a no-show and claimed that her system had already shut down. I explained that I had a doctor's appointment early the next morning, which took me three months to secure, and that I had to leave tonight. I even arranged with my boss to leave early today and take tomorrow off just to make it to this appointment. Instead of assisting me, she lectured me about how I should have called. I was unable to call due to being stuck in transit, but I still made it within their two-hour window. To add insult to injury, she mentioned that they could give the car to anyone, which defeats the purpose of making a reservation. I thought the whole point of a reservation was to hold the car. All I could think of is how I hope she never has to go through what I did. If she ever finds herself in an emergency situation, I would hope she's treated with more understanding and accommodation than I was. This experience has made me question if I will ever rent from Avis again. I might just be one nobody customer, but it's disappointing to be treated with such disregard.
