I initially came here simply to express my grievances about the care I received. I came in hopeful after reading so many positive reviews, and I genuinely wanted this to be my long-term primary care home. The front office staff is wonderful, but unfortunately my experience with Dr. Raman was the opposite of what I expected from a primary care provider. I originally came in for one issue but also had a few additional concerns I hoped to discuss. After feeling rushed during my first visit, I scheduled my annual exam specifically so I could address everything thoroughly. During that appointment, Dr. Raman performed a pap smear and immediately moved to end the visit without asking any questions about my overall health. When I tried to bring up the concerns I had mentioned previously, she seemed disinterested and dismissed them without meaningful discussion. One example: I asked for a referral to an ENT for Eustachian Tube Dysfunction, which had already been identified by an urgent care provider. Dr. Raman told me, "There's nothing they can do for that," which is simply not accurate. My symptoms have since worsened, and I will now be seeking an ENT evaluation on my own. If it turns out that treatment was available or that something more serious was missed, I will be considering a formal complaint with the Arizona Medical Board. Experiences like this are exactly why so many patients feel unheard and dismissed by their doctors. At this point, I thought my review would end here -- a disappointing experience, but nothing more. But then I started reading the clinic's responses to other patients. And that's when I realized there is a much bigger, far more serious issue happening here. What I found in the owner and General Manager, Chad Gammage's, public replies is deeply alarming. His responses are not just unprofessional -- they contain clear, repeated, textbook HIPAA violations. These are not gray areas. These are not misunderstandings. These are direct disclosures of protected health information in a public forum. And frankly, I am disgusted by the way he chooses to operate this business. Here are just a few examples that anyone can verify by reading his replies: Example 1: He openly confirms a patient relationship ("I acknowledge you were a patient of Dr. Raman") and discloses private encounter details, including the exact length of a conversation ("we talked in circles for about 30 minutes"). Example 2: He publicly addresses a reviewer by name ("Dear Ms. Goding"), reveals clinical care details ("you were sent to the lab to have your blood drawn"), and discusses her insurance setup, pharmacy mix-ups, and authorization requirements. Example 3, which is the most severe: He publishes a timeline-based medical history, including exact appointment dates (03/21/2023), how long the patient has taken a medication ("20+ years"), exact dates the office messaged the patient (03/04/2024, 04/04/2024, 04/11/2024, 05/24/2024), a phone call and prescription refill date (05/23/2024), missed appointments and labs (06/13/2024), and even clinical status details ("being out of medication since July"). This is not "defending the business." This is illegal disclosure of protected health information. And unfortunately, Mr. Gammage, because you work in the medical field, you do not get to write replies like this. It's the equivalent of me -- as a licensed loan officer -- publicly posting a client's credit score because they're upset they didn't qualify. It's highly illegal. The federal government explicitly states that a patient leaving a review does not give a clinic permission to expose their medical file. Revealing private clinical details to retaliate against negative feedback raises serious questions about HIPAA compliance, ethics, and overall leadership. It reflects poorly on the entire operation. The way he chooses to run this business -- attacking patients, exposing their information, and weaponizing their medical history online -- is disgraceful. For anyone reading this, know your rights: HIPAA Privacy Violations: If this business responds to your review by confirming you were a patient, arguing about your care, or revealing appointment or prescription details, take a screenshot immediately. You can file a complaint with the federal Office for Civil Rights (OCR) through the HHS Complaint Portal. Consumer Review Fairness Act (CRFA): If a business threatens to sue or penalize patients for negative reviews, that violates federal law. Report it to the FTC. Arizona Attorney General: You can submit a consumer grievance through the Arizona Attorney General for unfair or deceptive business practices if the clinic uses bullying or intimidation tactics to suppress honest feedback Safe to say I will not be coming back here, lol. And Chad dont even bother replying, nothing you say will hold any weight to me, because you are not a good business owner. read more

My family have been patients at AvistaMed for their Primary Care Services possibly 2+ years now. There has been consistent billing companies and billing teams that have no clue how to bill. In fact, the offshore billing team has been a nightmare. Double and triple billing. This was related to copays paid in the office during office visit check-in. On 'many' occasions Ive had to call and ask Dr. Punya Raman's team for assistance with their billing company. Here team during those times agreed that my family and I do not owe money despite their attempt to collect and collection threats. I have also sent receipts and snip-its of bank statements. However, we stayed loyal to Dr. Raman. There has been a consistent rotation of staff. The gentleman that used to run the office was amazing. Unfortunately he's been long gone. You learn the rotating staffs way of doing things. Last week this became an issue. Immediately out of the hospital I called for an appointment with Dr. Raman for follow-up care, as advised. I also wanted to advise that their latest billing company is charging for a service that they stopped billing for and wanted you to understand when the fees started up again. Gabby answered the phone 7:31a before I could speak, she asked me to hold, I waited 9 minutes, the call picked up and I was immediately hung-up on. I called back, I was happy that Bree answered. Bree had unprofessional tone when I said I was waiting and was hung-up on. She said I was never hung-up on. I asked why she had tone when Im trying to advise of my experience this morning. We moved on and she scheduled me for a visit with the doctor. We then discussed the billing department. She refused to accept the process that was happening with the billing department and their prior process. Bree stated she's been working there a month and know the process. Gabby was in the background talking then took over the phone call, again unprofessional tone. Gabby said shes been there 6 months and said the billing process has never changed. I asked if she can have Dr. Raman contact me about their unprofessionalism. Gabby then says "Dr. Raman will not be calling you back!" She said I could only speak to Chad Gammage the office manager. I asked for his number she gave me his email address. I searched online for contact information on how to call Chad and/or Dr Raman. I emailed them both. Although, I did not receive a call from anyone (smh) my thought was I would advise Dr. Raman of what took place during my doctors appointment this week (after discussing my emergent medical event). Today, I receive a "Patient Termination Notice" written on 9/20 (the day of my call to their office) and signed by Chad Gammage (potential relative or spouse of Dr. Raman, from what I am hearing now). He never called but sent the letter (smh). It also stated "Avistamed will release your medical records upon receipt of your new doctor's signed medical release authorization form". Being in insurance for 34 years I know my rights to receive copies of my own medical records. All of this to say... my horrible experience was unfortunately caused in part due to the team's degradation of service, unprofessional staff and lack of understanding relative to continuation of care. This is a horrible place. Don't go here! You have a doctor who prescribes anything without taking bloodwork. You have Jeff who answers the phone, and is rude to customers and hangs up in the middle of a conversation. Bad customer service and rude people. Started with Dr. Raman a year or so ago, things went along fine until my latest blood test. Normally I would check it and then make an appointment. I guess a few previous clients saw their tests and panicked so now she won't share until you see her. She also won't combine appointments, cortisone shot and consultation on lab works. Try calling in on their phone, nobody answers goes to leave a message. I guess its tough to hire people but sorry I'm moving along. read more

I hate to write this type of review, but I would like to notify potential patients of this issue. First, I went in 2019 so routine lab work and a referral to a GI. Diabetes and Heart Disease run in my family. I also wanted an allergy test completed for my reference. The labs were run and Dr. Raman said they came back good. Now, in 2021, I logged into my portal via their website to see that, no, they are not good. I have a severe yeast allergy (which could be some of the concerns of my GI problems), as well as a high A1C and glucose levels. Neither of these were every communicated to me. A few months ago, I had lab work done for possible thyoid issues. My T4 was low, and based on the fact that my mother suffers from a thyroid condition (along with symptoms that I am having), I thought it was good to get it checked. When I had my virtual visit with Dr. Raman, she states that "my psychiatric disorder is causing the symptoms and I may be making them up". I took it upon myself to go see an Endocrinologist. Come to find out, I hypothyrodism and am being tested for possible Cushings. Had I not taken it upon myself to do this, I would have lived for a while thinking "I am just crazy". The reviews for Dr. Raman were good, but I do not recommend her. She may not be the same way with you that she was with me. read more

I have had a terrible experience with Dr. Raman. She does not seem to care about me as her patient minus constantly making me feel guilty for my mental health and economic situation. I also asked about getting help providing information to my employer about me being a high risk (getting COVID). She refused even though on the CDC website explicitly states that I am high risk. I am very disappointed about my experience. I do not recommend her clinic. She was more worried about me scheduling excess appointments with her than my actual wellness. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Raman for about a year and have seen her for routine medical issues. I am current on my COVID vaccinations as well as my booster shot. I had to leave work because I wasn't feeling well and tried to get a COVID test with Dr Raman's office. I ended up at Urgent care where my Flu and COVID test were negative. I then called Dr Ramens office to schedule an appointment and was told that I should not come in because I was sick. I will say that again they didn't want to see me because I was sick. The office manager was down right rude but agreed to have a PA see me. I was told that I had a virus and to just go home. Then in the parking lot Dr Raman's husband / general manager told me that I was not allowed to come back. In all my years I have never been treated so badly by a Doctor or there office. They are more interested in selling weight loss remedies than providing health care. My advice avoid these people at all cost. read more

BEWARE of this practice!!! They prescribed me the wrong medication and I had suffered over a month with that wrong medication. When calling and asking to speak to the manager, I was informed that he only comes in a couple days of the week and that he's Dr. Raman's husband. I left three messages and never got a call back. So I walked in two weeks later to ask to speak to the doctor and let her know why I'm leaving the practice. The office manager was called in and abruptly spoke to me. "What do you want" When I found out he was the manager I had said I've been waiting to talk to you very nicely. He then said I know the story and get out! What doctors office speaks to patients in this manner!! He then called me names and said I was crazy and to get out! And that was a trigger for me. In reiterating that you don't even want to hear my side of the story he then approached me and got right into my face! Again what type of management does this?? When I said that I won't leave until I speak to the doctor they called 911 on me. DO NOT GO THERE!!' They are so unprofessional and prescribe the wrong medication! And then they lie about doing that! Dr Rama is deceptive after seeing her for 18 months she started billing me stating that my insurance never payed her called her office several time for 3 months and had Jeff given me a hard time and out right nasty. Wasn't till I sent my insurance statement that the bill was payed they stop billing. read more

I contacted Dr. Raman's office at Avista Medical Center after being discharged from the hospital from a serious car accident. My first appointment, I immediately felt accepted and comfortable with the office. Everyone there, Dr. Ramen, Alex, Jennifer and Jeff have been wonderful. I know I'm in good hands here and will be a patient long after my car accident wounds heal. I would highly recommend this office for health needs. read more

Received a termination letter from Dr Raman office manager Chad. Why you ask? I had an appt with Dr Raman a few days ago and there was a new front office personnel by the name of Jeff. It was just a simple med check visit. I have been seeing Dr Raman for 20 years and have NEVER had an issue in her office. Jeff proceeds to check me in and tells me that I owe $100.00. I ask him, what is the insurance contractual allowed amount? He says I don't know, Im not in billing. Now I have worked in medical insurance field for 30 years and I know that because Dr Raman is a contract provider with my insurance company, they can not charge me more then what is allowed. Well needless to say, Jeff thought he knew it all and said sorry, this is how I was trained. Did I get upset? Oh you bet I did and the conversation got very heated. Did we video tape the whole interaction? Sure did. I would love to be able to show Chad and Dr Raman how JEFF - the new front office staff handles her patients. Very poor customer service. So then instead of Chad or Dr Raman calling to find out what happen, they just believe what Jeff says and sends me a termination letter. Oh and while we were in the office, there was a couple there picking up all their medical records ( which they were being charge $150.00 for ) because they said they are never coming back either.
