My mom was a patient of hers a long time ago when she first opened up. Nothing has changed, it actually is worse! noone answers the phone, you must wait 24-48 hours for a call back to make an appointment. They treat anyone with state insurance like crap even though the insurance assigned us to her. Lets come back to reality doc! Get some better customer service and someone who answers the phone! Don't come here you will die before getting an answer. Dr. Gupta is to high class to see any state patient. Not even by choice, I lost my job and have to do what anyone does for family. I have been going to Dr Gupta for over 15 years and referred numerous friends, who also love her and continue with her. She is the BEST. When I first came to her, I had a chronic (7 year) cough, which previous doctors found the solution of switching meds. Dr Gupta said that she wanted to get to the bottom and sent me to various specialists until the problem was identified and taken care of. Over the following years, I cannot think of even one time when I sat in the waiting room and/or clinic room for more than 5 minutes until someone entered and got the ball rolling... she has always been right on their heels. I have never had a doctor listen and not rush me like she does... I always feel like she has time and hears my concerns. Over the years, I also have had various needs which I needed (or felt like I did ;-) a quick response and always get it. If a same day appointment is available, I get in; on the occasion there isn't, she will call and find a reasonable solution! *I would say: be sure and email, rather than leave a voice mail. I have also had need of referrals and she has the connections! Every one of her referrals have been great (maybe not as great as her, but she is one of a kind). I cannot think of one negative over 15+ years. read more

This has been the absolute worst experience I have ever had with a healthcare provider. They provide their patients with the worst communication, customer experience, and ask that you schedule an appointment for little thing to ensure they are collecting a copay and/ or more. Health, being very sensitive topic, you would hope the folks in this field would treat their patients with kindness, courtesy, and follow through with what they say are going to do, unfortunately that does not happen here. Dr. Gupta is attentive, thorough and caring. It's too bad part of her office staff is lacking in social skills and work ethics. This review would be PAGES long if I went into details, but the basic point is that I have been battling with them for over two weeks now over a simple referral for a dermatologist. I currently have more skin cancer that was supposed to be removed at the end of November. We have been seeing the same dermatologist for about eight years now, but insurance requires that the referral is renewed yearly, which has NEVER been an issue before. At first I was told Dr. Gupta would not complete the referral because she needs to see me first. Tele-med appointment done. Then my surgery was cancelled because no referral had been issued. After numerous emails and calls with Gupta's office, I determined that it must be the man in the front office that Katie B mentioned in her review that I was dealing with. He was very condescending when he spoke with me and gave me instructions on the information he needed me to obtain. I did so. Then he wanted me to call the Dermatology office yet again to obtain more information for him, and he told me, "we've never done this for you before". I have never ever had this much trouble obtaining a simple referral and it should be a no-brainer. I even spent half an hour on a call with my insurance gathering information and relating it to Gupta's office. I'm beyond frustrated. Is this not HIS job? To make an extremely long story short, I am still awaiting my skin cancer surgery. In the meantime, I am searching for a new primary care doctor. Obviously the doctor and his/her level of care and ethics are of great importance, but so is their staff. They should be pleasant to deal with, fair, attentive to their jobs, and understanding, and this is not the case at East Valley Family Practice. This is my second review. I have received another outrageous bill that is a straight scam.!! I beg you!! If you are reading this and considering becoming a patient. RUUUUUN FAAAAAR AWAY!!!!!! **BE AWARE** Sunita Gupta is known to file fraudulent referrals. I received a call today, I am not revealing the business who received the referral, stating that they were calling to set a consultation for a referral that they received 9/16/21 from East Valley Family Practice. I have NOT been to East Valley Family Practice in 4 years so why are they sending out a referral ? Fraudulent insurance claim? I called this business, the gentleman who answered who stated he was the owner, yelled at me, talked over me and was very argumentative. No indication they were willing to listen to and resolve my complaint. read more

When we first started going here they were ok (no thing fabulous) but then my daughter who was out of town for college had to cancel/reschedule 2 different appointments. We then got a letter informing us that we were no longer welcome @ the practice for canceling appts. I understand if it was within 24 hours but both times it was days or a week notice. Find a different practice that works with you better & doesn't get mad for rescheduling. read more

Beware. I have no issue with Dr Gupta herself. The man at the front desk however, is a problem. He will harass you about not being insured each time you visit (even though you are there yearly and your insurance has never changed). You will present him with your digital blue cross insurance card only to be told again, you are wrong and not insured. Then, when you call up your insurance company to have them verify that you are, as you knew, insured, you are then mansplained and basically told that you are wrong again and they are right. So come prepared with insurance that is valid and be prepared to be turned away. Or pay cash and be reimbursed. they are scamming people. read more

I been going to dr gupta for a long time. She recently set me up for an appointment over the phone and wanted to charge me $90 I rather have a physical appointment being that my lung condition isn't at its greatest I chose to reschedule when there was availability. When I called today to set an appointment I was told by the front desk that dr gupta refused to take me as her patient because I couldn't make my last appointment and if I die she not responsible. That was very disturbing to hear. I found another Dr near me right after and I'm very satisfied with my new location read more

My whole family WAS a patient of this medical office since 2013. The initial office staff was fantastic. Over the years, the turnover has been insane and never ending. Dr Gupta is a good Dr. However, her husband running the show at the front desk leaves a lot to be desired. They won't send you a bill but you'll get a call saying you owe a balance and if it isn't paid they're sending you to collections- 16 months later. They'll bill you for a yearly exam when your insurance might cover it as preventative like ours does. They'll also charge you finance fees on top of your co pay, which you weren't even billed for, and then tell you your insurance company said that's what you owe... including the "finance fee". The staff turn over and their billing issues. STAY AWAY. Keep any proof of payment as many times I'd used my FSA and would come in for the next visit and they'd say I owed a balance. I'd then go back and get a copy of the payment to avoid paying again. Just find another medical practice and save yourself the headache. Sadly she's a great Dr but the staff and billing aren't worth it. read more

I have been seeing Dr Gupta since I was a preteen. Through many years of migraines, surgery's, three babies and now having a lot of difficulty with possible autoimmune and a car accident she has been nothing but amazing. She always calls as soon as possible if there's an emergency, communicates with other Drs working with me and makes sure I'm taken care of. I am glad to have a dr who listens and truly cares about me especially right now. read more

I have been going to this doctor for almost a year. I gave this office and doctor so many chances to redeem themselves but I will now be looking for a new office and doctor, and I recommend that you do not choose this office. The doctor is very dismissive and always tries to rush me out of the office instead of listening. Early 2019 I came down with the flu, and after a week of not getting better and continuing to have a fever, I called the office. It went to voicemail so I hung up and called again in an hour. Again, it went to voicemail. I decided to leave a message, explaining that I was sick and would like an appointment. They never called back This has happened on multiple occasions where they have not called back, or even picked up the phone I do not reccomend this place at all. I reached out regarding an email I received about the account could go to collections for a past due balance of about $100. My first visit was on 2/20 and my second on 3/18 - and I paid money prior to being seen by the Dr each time. I tried calling the office on 4/21, they were closed, so I emailed instead. On 4/24 we proceeded to email back and forth, trying to understand, I was genuinely confused. I finally called billing, Cristy and was put on hold for a minute after explaining who I was. A man picked up (he did not identify himself) and was extremely unprofessional. He was condescending and disrespectful - stating in his own words that I don't know how computers work. I was shocked at the way he spoke to me, as if my questions were not valid and I just need to pay the bill. The words that he used were insulting and I told him I would never come back there again. As soon as the call ended, within 1 minute max, I received an email with the title "Transfer of Care Initiated". I sent an email to their Front Desk and Billing asking them not to contact me again, and I immediately received this response from their billing email address "Great, Account will go to collections Friday onwards, thanks for letting us know." read more

For real...DO NOT GO HERE. What doctor has this many 1* negative reviews? It's not like there aren't options. They are crooked, terribly run, non responsive.. I've also learned that an important quality of a doctor is the quality of their referrals. They only refer to their small group of friends. NOT to who's good. Their staff are all bitter and are constantly leaving because it's such a terrible practice even for them internally. How many of the same reviews do you need to read to be properly warned? My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Gupta for just over three years. From day one we have found her to have the best bedside manner. And as we are both in our 60s she doesn't take chances with any unusual symptoms we may present to her. She always greets us as if we are family and listens tentatively, answering our questions. Yes, she has referred us to Specialists from time to time but for very good reasons. And she monitors our conditions to a T. Before writing this review, I read through many others because I noticed a low rating for Dr. Gupta. What I noticed is, many of the reviewers were reviewing the front desk staff and or billing/insurance. A couple commented on the turn-over in the front desk staff. I have to say that's pretty much the case with every doctor/specialist I see. Since Covid, its hard for medical offices to maintain good staff. We have not had this issue with the staff at East Valley Family Practice. As far as, being charged upfront for phone visits...I don't see a problem with that. The staff is collecting for an appointment later that day, its their process to ensure that the work gets done. I'd pay before I walked into the exam room anyway, what's two or three hours ahead of time? I always get an emailed receipt and it's less hassle for me...especially if I'm out and about and going to take a call from Dr. Gupta on my cell phone. Convenience! I've called in a few times on Friday afternoon with sinus infections and Dr. Gupta gets right back to me, even calling after 5, and getting a prescription to the pharmacy so I don't have to suffer through the weekend. On top of that she is so kind to always tell us to call if we need her at anytime. Now, I've never done that because I can always go to an Urgent care and she needs her weekends too. But I feel valued for her to even offer. So, if you decide to see Dr. Sunita Gupta, and are going to review her, make the review based on the doctor's treatment of you...not on her staff. I haven't even seen the doctor and I'm already not happy. The office staff are not nice and I probably won't be coming back. They asked me for $90 for a "Pre collect" based upon my insurance. No where did any of the paper work say that. If you look at some of the other reviews, they say similar things about the front office. I wish I would did more research before I came here. So, I don't write a lot of reviews as you can see. I am not angry and upset like the last person who wrote the 5-star review mentioned. This is more of a warming for anyone remotely thinking they that this is the neighborhood doctor office that they want to go to, trusting that they are going to care for your well-being. Unfortunately, I won't be able to tell you if the doctor is competent or nice, because the office staff is trying to charge me for "first patient visit" zoom call, while all I want is a physical, that does cover by my insurance. When I asked her what this meeting is about, she started saying lab work, exams, WAIT, what lab work? This is a zoom call? Lab work? Sounds more like a scam to me. So I told her that I wanted to cancel the appointment, with her threatening voice, she told me the only options are to pay for the visit, or $25 cancelation fee, because even though I am 28 hours from my appointment, it is not 24 "business hours" under their policy...what the heck is a 24-hour business hours? Whoever does that sure sounds like they are here to "get you" for you money. I decided to choose the 3rd option, which is "I am not paying", she finally said she would take me off the scheduled appointment and said she would no longer making further appointment with me... Horrible service from this office. Her husband is extremely rude at the front desk. They do not follow up or return phone calls. Dr. Gupta sent me for several expensive tests prior to prescribing a basic medication. After I completed the tests and they were all normal there was never any follow up from her office for the medication. I had to follow up 3 times on one message. When I told them that I would be changing Dr.'s they sent me a letter a week later stating that I wouldn't be a patient there anymore. That was a first. Nice to know that the Dr.'s office now has to "one up" you. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. I have never experienced this anywhere else, thankfully. Horrible office. read more

I can only speak for myself and my experiences. I am the kind of person who deliberately calls the restaurant manager up from the back to let him/her know about exceptional service. You know the internet is usually where people go to voice anger over bad service or poor quality, because they are angry and upset. I use the internet to call out the good and the bad. Back in the spring of 2014 my wife and I moved from Michigan to our new home in Queen Creek. One of the most stressful parts of relocation to a new community is finding proper health care. This includes a solid general practitioner, specialists, Dentists, even Vets. Finding the wrong health care provider can end up becoming a financial and emotional mess for everyone. My wife found out about Dr. Gupta through a friend. A few months later when I realized it was time I started to use Dr. Gupta as well. All I can say is that Dr. Gupta has been exceptional in every way possible. She provides: * An exceptional bedside manner (You really feels she cares about all of her patents) * She and her staff are organized. She always gets back to me with a "Personal" phone call. * Her office follows up. I was ill and her staff called me the day after to check on my condition. * No billing surprises! * Totally professional. I have been in an industry where I have dealt with many physicians for over 30 years and Dr. Sunita Gupta is "The Real Deal". * My wife loves her. This office is nothing but horrible.. They NEVER returned phone calls after me calling multiple times. I was promised a call back at a specific time and was let down many times. Heck, Dr. Gupta never even called me after my labs were done to schedule a time to go over them. After I called plenty of times with no call back, Dr. Gupta finally reached back out to me and just left the results on my voicemail..no explanation, no asking if I understood, no plan of action, NOTHING. When I came back to get my referral I was in and out in 2 minutes after being treated rudely. On to billing.. Most offices would allow you to make payments right? They would be happy to get their money rather than sell it for nothing to collections... Not Dr. Gupta's office! They would not accept ANY payment plan, required the bill to be paid in full and threatened to send it to collections. No willingness to attempt to work with you on it. Completely dumbfounded to this thought process in this day and age. OVERPRICED PROCEDURE COSTS AND COMPLETELY UNWILLING TO WORK WITH YOU. DO YOURSELF A MAJOR FAVOR AND FIND A DIFFERENT DOCTOR. 09/19/16 EDIT: Decided we obviously need to just pay the bill.. Called and let them know we wanted to pay in full and for the Dr. to please call before the end of day. Receptionist promised Dr. Gupta would call me before the end of day and if not, call after 5 and it will go to her cell phone. Well, 5 o'clock comes and goes - NO CALL FROM DOCTOR. Call after 5 and it does get routed to Dr's cell phone. When she picks up she tells me to call tomorrow as she is not at the office. Huh?!? Is this a fricking joke? I insisted that she help me since she failed to call me yet again and her office instructed me to call after hours to reach her. She was anything but respectful and said she can't take the payment because it's past 5 now. This office is literally a joke and the most unprofessional office I have ever dealt with, I strongly encourage you to find a different doctor. Update: I wanted to update.. So Dr. Gupta ordered a blood test for my cholesterol problem in late 2020. I got it done but the results were not sent until right after the new year. They called to set up a phone call appt to let me know what the results were. They asked if my insurance had changed since it was Jan 3rd. I said yes, but it hasn't kicked in yet. He said then it would cost me $75. SHE ordered the test, I PAID for it. Now she wouldn't talk to me because my current insurance hasn't started, but I can pay an additional $75 just to tell me if my cholesterol is high? After 4 years of complaining and not finding a new Doctor, this was the last straw. read more

This family practice is a scam. I went in there as a new patient on Wednesday, and the front office was not really friendly. They didn't say hi or anything, just do you have an appointment. Then they proceed to tell me I have a co-pay of $90 that I needed to pay now even though they didn't know what my insurance was going to pay. So unfortunately I started off with a bad taste in my mouth. After almost 30 minutes waiting they call me in, I meet with the P.A. Misty who goes over my forms I filled out, then leaves and Dr. Gupta comes in and says, sorry about the wait. She starts to go over my prescriptions and wants to tell me, she doesn't feel I need to be taking a prescription (NOT KNOWING ANY OF MY MEDICAL HISTORY) I've been using on and off for years. Then she makes me feel like I'm a drug addict because she goes on this tirade about the drug problems in Arizona and if I'm going to be taking it, I have to take some completely different medication first and then have a drug screening and then they have to call my pharmacy to check my past prescription history, which I had no problem with. I'm sure Dr. Gupta could feel that there was tensions between us so she recommended that I take 24 hours to decide if I wanted to proceed with her being my doctor, which I agreed. She also asked me, did I want her to call into the pharmacy to give me a couple of pils to hold me over until I decided what to do, I said, NO I would call her back in 24 hours. I immediately called the next day to let her know I would be looking for another provider and I didn't feel like there was a fit. I also asked her about getting my $90 back because I felt services were not rendered. She said, she would have to check with the billing person and SHE would get back to me within 24 to 48 hours. Today I get a call back from Nicole Not the doctor, from billing let me know that they could not refund my money because the doctor had sent a prescription over to the pharmacy. I told Nicole I specifically told the doctor to hold off on everything for 24 hours. Nicole basically ignored what I said, and told me, they would be billing my insurance company based upon their documentation and the fact the doctor called in a prescription. When I told her I would be calling my insurance she said, we'll fight it because we have the documentation to support the procedure. THIS PLACE IS THE BIGGEST SCAM EVER!!!! JUST LOOK AT SOME OF THE OTHER THINGS PEOPLE HAVE WRITTEN ABOUT THIS FAMILY PRACTICE. I have never ever experienced in my entire life anything like what I just went through with this office and doctor. I have already made my insurance company aware of what's going on and the credit card company I had to pay the $90 too. Then the girl was so stupid she even showed me the schedule probably hoping I would not be able to understand it, but guess what I used to do for a living so naturally I understood it and SHE never had me scheduled in the first place, but accusing me of calling claiming I wanted to go to the hospital instead !!! I have only been a patient here for about a year now, but I have come in with severe back pain and bronchitis and every time I come in I am listened to and taken seriously. The staff is always very friendly and helpful, and the doctor is so personable. It's nice to come to a place where they actually listen to your symptoms and concerns and consider them to find the right treatment. It is also very clean and comfortable. I am so pleased with this office and will definitely keep coming. The only thing I don't like is that if you can't come in for your appointment and don't call 24 hours ahead of time, you're billed $25. Other than that, great place! read more
