Our walking food tour in Venice was truly divine! Lobster rolls, hidden food markets, vegan crab cakes, and fresh donuts made for one perfect afternoon. Eating my way through a neighborhood I've been to so many times was just so cool for so many reasons. Madeline was knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and inspiring! 10/10 recommend.

This was my first time ever trying a food tour, nevertheless Avital tours and I was pleasantly surprised! The food was amazing and our group learned a lot from our knowledgable tour guide Madeline. Be prepared to be full, they prepare a lot of food for the tour! But because of that, you definitely get your money's worth. Great way to explore and learn about new restaurants!

We had an amazing experience. Let me start off by saying I have done this tour twice in the past but my experience this time was great. Jody the new owner was our guide and we all left with a new outlook on the city of Pasadena and its Old Town history. Second, new locations were added since my last tour. OMG! We had Sipping Chocolate & Venezuelan Chicken Empanadas from Amara Cafe, Chicken Wraps & Pickles from Sincerely Syria, Samosa's & Veggie Pakora from Tibet Nepal House, Garlic Naan, Curry Chicken & more from New Delhi Palace, Scones & Two Pots of Delicious Teas from Chado Tea Room. The Chado staff also gave us a complimentary Iced Hibiscus Tea to try. Last but not least we had wonderful Chocolate Candy from Mignon Chocolate. We were even allowed time to shop for goodies in the great Old Town specialty stores. There is plenty of parking in a garage less than five minutes from the starting point. If you are looking for a fun-filled day, reserve your spot with Melting Pot Tours. Wear comfortable shoes as you will be walking for 3.5 to 4 hours. Stay hydrated. Have fun.

I honestly didn't know what to expect, but from the moment we arrived, the energy was welcoming, organized, and full of excitement. The tour was originally planned for three buses, but there ended up being enough people for a fourth. What I loved was that even though the additional bus wasn't expected, Daisy and her team were prepared and handled everything seamlessly so everyone could still be accommodated and enjoy the experience. And the FOOD! We experienced something from several Black-owned businesses, including Red's Flavor Table, Honey Kettle Chicken, Court Cafe, Tal's Cafe, The Serving Spoon, and Sol y Soul. At Tal's Cafe, we had pancakes, eggs, sausage, and bacon. The pancakes were made from a secret recipe and had me trying to figure out exactly what I was tasting! Court Cafe served fried chicken and waffles. But Red's Flavor Table was the standout for me, the shrimp over smothered potatoes was AMAZING. It wasn't your traditional shrimp and grits; there were tender crawfish and possibly grits in the dish, but the smothered potatoes were what really made it special. They had the perfect texture, firm enough to have some bite while still being soft. That was easily my favorite dish of the entire tour! Sol y Soul gave us a delicious cornbread-style treat with sweet butter and peach jam. We also enjoyed food from Honey Kettle Chicken. Each stop had its own experience, and the chefs and restaurant teams personally came out to introduce themselves and share the food with us, which made it feel even more special. But honestly, one of my favorite parts was the bus ride itself. This wasn't just a food tour where you sit on a bus and wait for the next stop. We played games, laughed, talked, exchanged socials, and actually got to know the people around us. It felt like community was being created right there on the bus. Daisy is an incredible host, and her love for food, people, and Black-owned businesses was evident throughout the entire experience. Her team was just as wonderful, knowledgeable, polite, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Even when I was one of the last people to receive my cocktail, they made sure I was taken care of and didn't make me feel forgotten. What really stood out to me was how welcoming everyone was at each business. You could feel the excitement when the tour arrived. It reminded me that LA really is about community, connection, love, and supporting one another. I would absolutely recommend Daisy's Black LA Food Tour! This would be PERFECT for a birthday celebration, girls' day, a group outing, or anyone who wants to experience multiple food spots without having to worry about driving from place to place. And if you're looking to meet new people while eating good food and learning more about Black-owned businesses in LA, this is definitely an experience worth having. Daisy has created something truly special. I had an amazing time and would happily do this tour again!

Totally not the guide's fault, but there was a bit of huddling under awnings and leaping over puddles throughout the evening. Also, there were times we wished that the guides waited to tell stories when we were inside, instead of standing in the weather. We were a big group and they split us into two - we started in different places and met up halfway through. Several members of our group had food allergies. The best part of the evening was the diligence our guide took making sure he accommodated the special diet needs, including some bizarre allergies. There were no slip ups or mix ups, and there was a couple of things everyone could eat at each place. The stories we did hear were very interesting, although it was really limited to a couple of anecdotes here and there. There was more socializing and sampling than touring and learning the area's culinary history, which was fine. We felt like the delivery could have been more engaging and the tour more interactive but overall it was really enjoyable. Good variety of different restaurants, and this was one of the only tours we could find that could do an evening slot instead of just daytime. Food was pre-ordered, and all the choices were really good. A great way to learn about the area and try a lot of different things, while spending quality time with groupmates.

Aside from her great knowledge of the history of Manhattan beach, she has excellent taste in food. We went to 6 different food places and one wine tasting stop. The food was delicious, home made from local owners. We walked to all our food destinations, but to be honest it's actually more hands on and personal this way. Everything was close by and easy to get too. Personal food favorites from our food tour was everything lol. But for me one stood out the most and that was from the Rock 'N' Fish restaurant ( Coconut crusted Mahi sliders with a mango slaw, avocado, and sweet chilli aoli) best appetizer hands down. We integrated a Wednesday 2:00 PM tour into our road trip from the Bay Area down to Carlsbad (Legoland), and it was a highly worthwhile 60-minute break for the whole family. While the official online policy states that children must be five years or older, we brought our three and six-year-old boys and had absolutely no issues. The one-hour tour is surprisingly engaging, even for young kids. It covers a high-level history of the brand, a look at some neat historical memorabilia, and a walk through of the active factory floor where you can see the fermentation, bottling and packaging process, though photos are unfortunately not allowed in that section. They are also incredibly generous, providing free squishy toys alongside full size samples of both the classic and low-calorie Yakult drinks. Growing up drinking Yakult when I visited my grandparents in Taiwan and getting them as treats in the bay, it was fascinating for me to learn more about its history after its founding in Japan, and both of our boys thoroughly enjoyed themselves. When you arrive (or before you leave), there are a couple of great photo opportunities outside the factory, including a life-size Yakult bottle. I also asked the staff if they plan to sell branded merchandise in the future, and they mentioned it is highly likely in the works, though not available just yet. While we wouldn't suggest making a dedicated trip just for this, it is a highly recommended, high-value stop if you are already traveling through the area. Our boys also are very excited now when we get Yakult from the local Asian grocery store and know that you should drink one bottle a day for the right amount of probiotics :)

No gift shop :( Some notable things I learned on the tour: -Yakult is not supposed to be frozen. Freezing/thawing Yakult kills the probiotics -The L. paracasei strain Shirota has been proven to survive in stomach acid conditions so that they make it into your intestines alive -Yakult will be opening their second US factory in Georgia!
