Layla is awesome I recommend.this tour highly! It was a combination of great people, delicious food and a plethora of Historical information that even Long Beach residents didn't know about. There are so many great places in the LBC. It was great learning experience.

About to experience the Flaming Cheese....soooo good.

This was both my hubby's and my first food tour. It was fun and delicious! Our tour guide Lisa was full of historical and fun facts about Long Beach and places we passed/visited during our tour. We would definitely di this again (:

My wife and I took the East Village Craft Cocktail tour with Lisa Mendoza and we loved it! The charm of this part of Long Beach is evident. We stopped at five locations: James Republic, The Blind Donkey, District Wine, Padre, and Mezcalero. My wife enjoyed our first stop James Republic, and I really loved the last stop Menzcalero. Each place we went to was great, and you cerean't go wrong with any of the cocktails. They were all delicious. Our tour guide Lisa was fantastic! She is definitely a people person. The conversation was easy and natural. She told us the history and bits of trivia about each place. We also played this fun game in which she gave us a different card at each stop, and after the fifth stop we played a hand of poker with our cards. If you are looking for a fun and charming time with a friend or loved one, and you like to drink, you should try the East Village Craft Cocktail Tour. Highly recommend! Cheers! 4/20/19 - Update: We recently took the kids and did the food tour. It was just as enjoyable as the Craft Cocktail Tour. Cassidy was fantastic. So knowledgeable and sweet! We went to seven locations, and had a great selection of food. Again, highly recommend!

Perfect amount of food, The pizza @ Michael's ( Strongly Recommended) Awesome time @ the Recreational Coffee!!!

We received a gift certificate for Beach City Food Tours as a Christmas gift and didn't know what to expect. What a wonderful way to spend an early afternoon! Our guide, and owner of Beach City Food Tours, Layla, was interesting and enthusiastic. We made 8 stops starting with savory offerings from George's Greek Cafe, Pier 76 Fish Grill and Michael's Pizzeria, then on to sweeter offerings. Along the way Layla discussed the history of the restaurants and historic buildings in the area. In between food stops we visited MADE by Millworks which offers a wide assortment of locally made products. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour, the tastings and the company of Layla who made being "tourists" in our home town a unique and fun experience. We plan to recommend Beach City Tours to family, friends and out of town guests.

This is a concept where you experience 4 different restaurants within walking distance of each other, for a single meal. The area we visited was the Downtown Long Beach Promenade. Our first stop was at a Mediterranean restaurant called Ammatoli. We enjoyed a selection of 3 fantastic appetizers and a glass of wine. In addition to really delicious food and wonderful service, we were impressed by the wine selection of predominantly Lebanese wines. What a great concept to pair the wine and food from the same region of the world! We chose the rose' and it was a perfect choice . The next stop was Ordinarie, a classic American hospitality tavern. Salad was the course...I had the Fig and Apple and Bob had the Grilled Caesar. Both were excellent! Service was gracious, they expected us and had our order ready. For the main entree, we walked up the promenade to Michael's Downtown. (This is the only one of the four that we have been to previously.) We had selected the Spinach Ricotta Ravioli and the Soppresatta Stracciatella Pizza, to share. Both dishes were amazing! Our servers, again, expected us, were attentive and friendly. The grand finale was dessert at Beachwood BBQ. We ordered the Key Lime Pie and Pecan pie. Again...delicious! This entire experience was really fun! We tried new places (which we plan to return to soon) and experienced a vibrant part of town that we don't usually visit. This was a Thursday night and every restaurant was busy with patrons. People were out strolling and walking dogs. It has a great neighborhood vibe! We heartily recommend you give this a try. New areas are opening soon. Yes, it's kinda a lot of food....but sooo good...and you don't eat like that every night! Lol! #progressivedinnercrawl!

The night consisted of 4 different spots with each stop progressing into the next phase of the dinner (hence the name). The experience was perfectly curated and flowed organically. It was such a cool and EASY way to enjoy a variety of tasty eats/drinks in the area without having to ask the age old question, "where should we eat?". Another added bonus, with it being an all inclusive ticket, no headache trying to split checks/figure out tip. Just show up and eat/drink! Can't wait to do it again!

Our tour guide, Scarlet, was awesome. A local Angeleno, it was clear she really knows her stuff. She shared a ton of history with us, about downtown and Los Angeles in general. My favorite morsel was when the city was removing a bunch of trees from Pershing Square, Walt Disney took a bunch of them off the city's hands and used them for the Jungle Cruise! We started with an almond croissant from Pitchoun, then got pork belly skewers from Sari Sari Store at Grand Central Market, then we were on to Maccheroni Republic for some pumpkin ravioli, then tacos at Guisados, and finally donuts at Donut Friend. We walked 2 miles total, and enjoyed every step and every bite. Highly recommend!!

Totally not the guide's fault, but there was a bit of huddling under awnings and leaping over puddles throughout the evening. Also, there were times we wished that the guides waited to tell stories when we were inside, instead of standing in the weather. We were a big group and they split us into two - we started in different places and met up halfway through. Several members of our group had food allergies. The best part of the evening was the diligence our guide took making sure he accommodated the special diet needs, including some bizarre allergies. There were no slip ups or mix ups, and there was a couple of things everyone could eat at each place. The stories we did hear were very interesting, although it was really limited to a couple of anecdotes here and there. There was more socializing and sampling than touring and learning the area's culinary history, which was fine. We felt like the delivery could have been more engaging and the tour more interactive but overall it was really enjoyable. Good variety of different restaurants, and this was one of the only tours we could find that could do an evening slot instead of just daytime. Food was pre-ordered, and all the choices were really good. A great way to learn about the area and try a lot of different things, while spending quality time with groupmates.

He was so friendly, accommodating, and very knowledgeable... and he let us pick the music (extra points)! We were a group of 9 and did the South OC pickup from San Juan Capistrano. The shuttle van fits a total of 14, so we were joined by another couple and pair of sisters, who thankfully, were really cool people, so it wasn't awkward at all. The shuttle van was very comfortable and Joseph provided waters and snacks, but you can also bring your own if you like. We visited 4 wineries in total, tastings and winery tours were included in the ticket price, and most wineries offer a 10-25% discount on bottle purchases through Best Coast Tours as well. You can even order your lunch in advance, not included in the ticket price, to be delivered during your lunch stop on the tour. We chose that option and enjoyed our lunch seated at a table on the grass listening to live music. Everything was so convenient and we really got lucky with the beautiful weather. Overall it was a great experience, I would definitely recommend Best Coast Tours to anyone from SoCal looking to spend a day out in Temecula without any of the stress of planning and coordinating. The ticket price is very reasonable considering everything that's included. Don't hesitate!

When we made reservations for a certain date, Mr LA surprisingly didn't even take down a name. When we arrived at the appointed place and time, Mr LA wasn't there. We called him and he said he'd be there within 15 minutes. Well, he approximately arrived after that time. We took Mr. LA's Culver City Food tour. For a food tour, I'd expect at least three tastings, hopefully more, but we got only one. We walked by many restaurants and he had something to say about several, but we never went in for a little snack. I got hungrier and hungrier hearing about the diversity, food and otherwise, in Culver City. Near the end of the tour, he finally took us into one place and bought so much of one thing that we couldn't even finish. He could have easily made us much happier by getting only one serving to share at this and two other places, maybe not even with the added chai tea. He wouldn't have spent any more money, but would have made us much happier. Other than the food, he started with some interesting facts, but towards the end, his knowledge kind of fizzled out. At one point, he told us one thing, but the sign next to the place said something different. I assume that whenever he mentioned years or dates, they were only approximate. He was a nice guy and I still learned a bit about Culver City, so I wasn't too disappointed, but I wouldn't take another one of his tours. Especially not for regular price; we had a Groupon. I should also mention that the tour only lasted about two hours, when it was advertised as a three hour tour.

Time should be taken to take in all the available displays, self guided tour, films about her history as well as a meal at The Chelsea, or Promenade Cafe, cocktails at the Observation Bar. The daily breakfast buffet has all the breakfast offerings and an amazing view of downtown Long Beach across the water. A La Carte breakfast is also available. The location is "across the street" - but it feel so close that it seems like it's in the parking lot of the Queen Mary. Because the Queen Mary is a historic ship, the walls are thin, the hotel doesn't have all the traditional bells and whistles that are common in newer hotels but for me, that is part of the experience. There isn't central air or heat but you can request a fan or more blankets, if the room is too loud they do offer ear plugs. What the hotel does have is beautiful historic woodwork, Art Deco style in the staterooms, 1930s artwork, photos of the celebrities who have stayed on the Queen Mary, working portholes. It's a time capsule that you can enter. Explore their website, review the tours that are available and remember that you can do self guided exploration as well.
