In 2022, with just two of us, we came back because we enjoyed our prior stay, and because it is clean, affordable, and close to the Tube. The room we got this time was small, but it didn't matter too much because we knew we wouldn't be spending a lot of time in our room. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The hotel also has a kitchenette in each room with microwave, stove and fridge along with pots, pans, plate and silverware making it easy to save a little money. Staff is friendly and very understanding : we had unintentionally booked a standard twin room - instead of a double room - and for our second night, we ended up with a double room + a complimentary upgrade. Rooms are a bit small but comfortable, well furbished, and overall quiet - maybe a few sounds from the streets during the day, but nothing to worry about. Prices are way under average in London : we paid around 100 pounds per night, so this is very good value for money. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a few nights stay in London !

First, the good: The location was excellent for playing tourist. Very accessible by public transit and within walking distance of many sights. The showers had loads of hot water, and the shower head changed colors based on the temperature of the water.. very cool! Next, the meh: The complimentary breakfast. Lots of bread, deli meats and some fresh and canned fruits. Its there, and if it comes with your room, its fine.. but if asked to pay for it, you can find much better fare for less than the £10 they are asking. Oh, and if you want coffee that doesn't suck, you'll be charged £1 for it. Lastly, the bad: So noisy! Paper thin walls, godawful alarms sounding at 0400! Loud creaking and clanging coming from the ducts in the middle of the night! Our room came with two thin pillows and one thin blanket. No flat sheet, no extras of any sort hanging out on a closet shelf. We had to ask for more and were eventually provided with them, but yeah.. I expect more from hotels in this price point. Extra towels or a floor mat would have been nice in the bathroom too; it came stocked with two body towels and that is it. We also had to hunt down shampoo/body wash on our own, as our room was lacking it when we first checked in. Our room had one electric outlet (unless you count the shaver-only outlet in the bathroom - I don't) in the entire room. One. Housekeeping also doesn't knock before they come in.. which is awesome when you are standing there without any clothes on. I've definitely stayed in worse places, but I would not want to stay here again, and I would not recommend it to others unless they really don't care about things noise level, or not having to ask for things that should already be in the room.

The high number of fake reviews on tripadvisor/ google/ expedia should be evidence enough that this…read morelocation suffers from bad service, but it wasn't until I stayed here that I realized just how bad it was. For one, their staff made disparaging comments about the fact that I was an American and suffered from a disability, and showed their clear contempt at having to deal with cleaning my room, if the word "clean" is used very loosely. Even after housekeeping had "cleaned" my room, it remained filthy. I had not planned on posting pictures or complaining about the state of my room when I first entered it, as I genuinely only planned on showering and sleeping there, but if this review helps even one person avoid a bad experience, it'll be worth it. The floors hadn't been vacuumed in some time, with popcorn, buttons, string, toenails/ fingernails, dust, and various types of liter lining the carpet of the room, the paint on the wall looked atrocious and was peeling off the ceiling in the bathroom, leaving bits of paint on the counter, the cups in the bathroom were dirty, and there was hair and mold in the shower. You can hear people entering and exiting their rooms at all hours of the day/ night, hear their conversations, and hear them walking across the floor. They claim the internet is secure, but it is actually open to everyone in the area, allowing anyone with unsavory intentions to watch what you're doing online. When I brought these issues to the attention of the manager(s) of the hotel, I was promised they would take them seriously. I was offered a room upgrade/ refund for a night of my stay, which I declined, as all I wanted were the negative comments to stop. I had video of the staff making their comments and sent them the clip, as requested. Approximately 12 hours later, I received an email from their director of operations in London, threatening legal action if I did not delete the video, as I had allegedly illegally obtained it, and to quote his email, "it could seem that you have set up this covert surveillance for the nefarious purpose of entrapment and manipulation." For the record, if a laptop is open and clearly shows the video being recorded, it is *not* considered covert. Rather than try to handle things amicably, and deal with their staff making disgusting comments, they threatened to sue me. There are 10's, if not 100's, of other hotels around London, and I highly recommend spending your money elsewhere.

No water stations, no ice machines, tiny soap, tiny bottles of shampoo, etc. We booked directly and were entitled to more than the continental breakfast. The included full English breakfast was delicious, but had to be ordered from your table, which as I overheard repeatedly was confusing to the many people staying who didn't speak English very well. It's surprising they don't just do a buffet, I ate early but it sounds like you may need to wait a while in the busiest times.

The bathroom had a towel warmer which came in handy- it is freezing in London right now. We had the perfect view of The Buttery's garden from our huge window. There is an adorable market just steps away- for provisions after hours. But for you, Yelp, I'll spill the reasons why you should stay here on your next visit to London... 1) The Location is awesome. You know the three rules of real-estate, right??? location, Location, LOCATION! Lime Tree (hence-forth, LT) is located in a very posh area of London. I saw McLarens and Rolls-Royces parked ON THE STREET where the hotel is located. Who parks a USD$200K+ car ON THE STREET?!? It is short walk to the Victoria Coach Station(s), Trains and Underground (Tube). There are plenty of pubs, restaurants, grocery stores and shops around. Our room overlooked the Peggy Porschen Bakery, which I kid you not, is Instagramed during all hours by "influencers". I only hope they get as much busy as they get featured in pics on the Internet! Also, down the street is Philip Treacy, Milner to Royalty! Again, LOCATION! 2) I would be remiss if I did not mention The Service at LT. There is an eight-hour shift rotation of lovely front desk people that check you in, collect your key when you leave (yes, there is a physical key to your room door and they ask that you leave it at the front desk everytime you leave). I am goingto butcher their name spellings (probably), but during our 8 night stay here, we came to know Simone, Martine, Maggy and Laura very well and all were charming, helpful and total professionals. My mother has stayed here several times before and was hoping to speak to the owner, Matt and Charlotte, but they were off on holiday, but I hear they are as hard-working and amiable as the Wondrous Women of the Front Desk (henceforth known as WWFD) 3) The Buttery - the SMALL breakfast/lunch restaurant in the LT (but you can't charge your meals to your room in the LT). The Word is out on on this place - there were just as many Locals eating here as there were guests at the hotel. RESERVATIONS are HIGHLY recommended (they are on OpenTable). I wrote a seperate review on The Buttery, so do a Yelp search and find that, but you honestly can't go wrong here. We ate 4 of the 8 days. TomTom across the street is also a one-location (at this time) gem and is packed after 9am. Early bird gets the good breakfast! Much love to the Lime Tree! I'll be back someday
