Our first time here. They were open on New Year's Day and it was an excellent way to start 2026. All the food was delicious, the service was good even though they were swamped (most places were closed). And the coffee! Chefs kiss. Will absolutely be back and happy we found this place. We were at a stoplight when my wife noticed "avocato." So we decided to stop for lunch. We were welcomed with smiles and Mari answered our questions about the menu. So many healthy choices. I had the black sheep empanadas. My first time to have blue corn empanadas filled with tender pork and garnished with lettuce, Queso and tomatoes. I was not disappointed. The only restaurant in puerto Peñasco that had a wide variety of vegan options with vegan protein. Day 1 I tried strawberry lemonade which was made fresh. Ordered the ravioli with chipotle sauce and tofu. This took a while to arrive but it was delicious and the quantity was good too. It also came with a side of salad which was nice. Day 2 I came in for brunch so I tried the vegan chilaquiles and I loved that too. The chocolate milkshake was for the road which was decadent and I had the strawberry mango smoothie there which was good too. Overall, I would definitely visit avocado when I'm here next! Decent Ambiance and Staff are friendly especially Leonel. One downside is-- only one bathroom to use. Other than that everything is good. Had a terrible experience. The Rajas cream sauce was great, the one upside to this place. We came on a Thursday, so not busy, but still waited over an hour for our food. Which would've been fine except the steak on the Goliath was almost raw when asked for well done. In addition, the eggs were not over easy and one of our chilaquiles plates had To go instead of rajas sauce, which we just accepted and ate anyways. In regards to the steak, the waiter asked if we "wanted something else or to take it off". My son chose to just take it off, to save time, which made the meal a simple 2 egg chilaquiles. The Goliath was $285 and a regular is $170. Over $100 difference. When going to leave the Goliath price was not adjusted, and when the waiter asked the manager, they said it could not be "taken off" as was originally stated. To make it right we requested they just make the steak well done and we would take Togo, to which they replied they cannot do either. Basically, we were forced to pay $110 for something we never received- not even a bite, it was SO rare and was still cold to the touch. Our normal go to is Kaffeehaus, which is just around the corner and has NEVER let us down. If looking for quality food in a decent amount of service time with staff who are genuine and polite, please steer clear of Avocato and try Kaffeehaus instead! read more

The restaurant is nicely decorated, and the space is open and spacious despite the small building. I ordered the Florintono omlette, and my husband ordered one with chorizo. Both were very good, but we both agreed mine was superior. The service started out ok, but the restaurant got very busy, so the service became quite slow. I would say about 45 minutes and there wasn't anyone ahead of us. Our waiter wasn't very attentive at all. They got my order wrong, twice. I ordered half and half red and Rajas chilaquiles. Once I got the red I was really appalled at the flavor and consistency. The red "sauce" was more of a paste, bitter and didn't seam seasoned. I did order mine with the steak on the side (that was really yummy). The American breakfast was good, and everything was plated very nice. If they get the food moving quicker, better service and quality control on the food, I'd def come back. I'll try again next year read more

The toppings of almonds, strawberries, dried cranberries, apple, and chocolate drizzle was delightful, but the sweet cream won the show. Not overly sweet and very satisfying. I paired it with the raspberry ginger juice, so refreshing. Husband ordered the chilaquiles roja that came with eggs, bacon, chicken, beans with cojita cheese, jalapeño, and red onion. He nearly licked the plate. The coffee is fresh and a nice assortment of flavored creamers. They even use pink Himalayan salt, nice touch. Clean, bright, eclectic and modern decor. Even though it was busy, it wasn't loud. The small bathroom was very clean, well maintained and offered fancy scented soaps. The bowl came nicely presented, but the white rice was not completely cooked, tasting hard & spoiling the dish as I reached for the rice on the bottom. Eileen came a round to check & chat, and we mentioned the rice. She offered to redo the dish. Waiting for a long time for the remake made me lose my once hungry appetite. Eileen brought back a completely different presented bowl. By this time my wife finished her lunch. We asked for a recommended salsa which turned out to be a Habanero variety. It was terrible tasting like it had been sitting pass It's expiration date. The bowls and experience were not enjoyable. Service by the staff mentioned were kind & pleasing! We also tried the red fruit waffle which was pretty, savory and sweet. It was a crispy waffle topped with sweet cream cheese syrup, almond slices and a variety of red berries and blueberries. A unique non-traditional twist on Mexican food. The food is healthy, good and fresh. The burros are huge and can easily be shared. You choose everything right down to the tortilla. The also have a create your own pasta option which my daughter got but she didn't care too much for it. Again, Italian choice with a Mexican twist. My burrito bowl was excellent. You choose the protein - asada, chipotle lime-chicken, Shrimp Carnitas or tofu and all the extras; pinto or black beans, corn, lettuce, onions etc. They also have a variety of sweet crepes. My son kept it simple with Nutella, bananas and strawberries with a touch of Carmel. My favorite was the choices of drinks. Tefresh was my favorite with green tea, ginger and peach. So refreshing! They also have lemonade with strawberries, horchata, coco-chata to name a few. Plus of course sodas and bottled water. Do be careful with some outside the restaurant who jumó at the chance to wash your car. They don't ask, they just do. We paid $5 for a car wash we didn't want.
