Hubby & I had dinner here tonight. We wanted to try this place when we were here in Oct, but I picked Wednesday to try it & they are closed on Wednesday. We are so glad we got to try it. We were the only ones in the restaurant when we went. The young girl who took care of us was great! She was friendly & super sweet. Hubby got a Michelada & added a shot of Tito's since there was no alcohol in the tomato juice part of the drink. He said it was really good. My sangria was good. It's made with pineapple juice. We ordered the chips & salsa. We also ordered the guacamole. The chips & salsa were good. I was happy there was no heat in the salsa since I am a huge whimp when it comes to spicy food. The guacamole was really good after we added some salt & lime juice. I normally don't eat guacamole, but I liked it too. We went "out of our box" & tried the whole fried fish. We split it. We asked her to add rice & beans if it didn't come with it. It was huge. The fish was fried perfectly! Hubby loved it. I liked it too. It was moist. The rice was good. The refried beans were excellent! I don't know what they do, but the texture & flavor was the best we have ever had. I loved them. My review was 4 years old. Just ate there again last nite and nothing has changed. Great food and top notch service. Hubby and daughter shared the giant platter which they loved. I have Carlos V shrimp, something new for me. Such generous portions, you'll leave her 10lbs heavier. Allegedly they have dessert but too full to try. A hidden gem in Puerto Peñasco aka rocky point. If you find yourself shopping on rodeo drive, be sure to duck in between the various shops and reward yourself with a fantastic margarita. You will be greeted instantly by the staff and invited to enjoy some Mexican classics. I have been here a few times and haven't missed on the menu yet. Ordered up some ceviche, Pollo Mole and some sizzling seafood. ThI didn't hear any complaints from our table. I don't think the sampling of the different types of tequila had anything to do with it. I'm sad to have to rate the restaurant so low, it has always been a favorite. The decor hasn't changed and the service was good (if over the top) but the food last night was bad. My 'tortilla soup' was a MASS of tortilla slivers in lukewarm broth with one tablespoon of chicken and two tiny pieces of avocado. My husbands chile rellenos with beef were under-seasoned with no flavor, the beans were cold. Even the salsa which has usually been amazing didn't have its' usual complexity of flavor. It seems that the cook has changed? When I returned to RV park, disappointed, others shared that it has declined over the last year. Fingers crossed that my experience was the exception. read more

This place was not even close to what we expected, very disappointing, made us wait for about 45 minutes and food was poorly constructed. Taste okay nothing spectacular for the amount we got charge...beware when traveling to Rocky point when low season, locals seem to take advantage when charging. My taco plate with chicken Carne Asada and shrimp was not bad. Chicken was very blend. Carne Asada was OK but shrimp was good and plump. Mexican combo was pretty good.. Whole fried fish was good. Tortilla soup was pretty bad.. No flavor and very blend. Guacamole was yummy. Total bill $88 with drinks for evrybody. Be warned they charge 8% if you use cc. I had seen this restaurant on Yelp prior to visiting this little shopping strip in Rocky Point, and my group decided to try them for lunch as they were conveniently located in the middle of our route. VERY nice in the inside and the service was also very polite and attentive. You can tell this was meant to cater to American visits but considering that, their food was very good! We ordered the chips and salsa, I had ordered their tea (sweetened), and I ordered the chicken mole while my two fellow travelers both ordered the garlic shrimp. I had a side of tortilla soup. Everything was FANTASTIC! I can't even tell you which was my favorite. I wish fountain drinks were bottomless like in the US. My group would gladly return!! read more

By far a very nice restaurant that encompasses the roots of what Mexican cuisine is meant to represent. Very kind waitress who provided exceptional service. I definitely recommend it to tourists and anyone interested in a nice place to eat. Definitely returning when I come back on vacation! Edit: I saw some previous reviews complaining about prices. I would like to add, politely, the prices are by far anything but unreasonable. As a tourist myself we need to be proactive and support communities that heavily rely on tourism to support their economy. That said don't be discouraged by the prices, this is a spectacular restaurant and prices are reasonable. read more

This was my second meal at Mariachis y Tequila, I had eaten here 2 years ago, and it was just as delicious as I remember! I ordered shrimp and chicken fajitas and my partner had the flank steak tampequeña with mole sauce. Brilliant and complex flavors in his plate, very happy with the food. I love the variety of peppers in the fajitas. We asked for spicier salsa our second round and it was perfect, I recommend this version. We ordered a margarita and sangria, which were delicious as well. Check out the colors of the drink glasses if you go, and the general ambiance, the colorful cloth napkins, the decor. It was slow for a Monday early dinner, we were the only table and our server was friendly. The bill total was less expensive than the subpar meal we had the night before someplace else - I think the food and drink quality and taste for the money is excellent. Went into town to Rocky Points Rodeo Drive after going on a tour of their Military Sailing ship that morning. When we were getting ready to leave we noticed this place. We did a YELP search as there was no one else in the place, and stayed as it gets good reviews. And we were glad we did!! While we were staying at Sonoran Sky we wanted to do take out rather than dine in. We ended up ordering both family meals, a meat one and a seafood one, along with Chile rellenos, shrimp cocktail and 2 bean burritos. The food was all delicious, but the Chile rellenos I feel like they didn't strip the skin off so it was really chewy and even hard to cut through. The shrimp cocktail was Meh, at best. But the family meals were wonderful! They did forget our tortillas and chips though so we had no carbs to use in any of our dips lol read more

STILL THE BEST restaurant in Rocky Point! We LOVE coming to M&T every time we come down. They have the best food and the nicest employees. It is on "rodeo drive" and there is a good amount of shopping in the area. Close to the Sandy beach resorts and always consistent. We have tried just about everything on the menu by now but do yourself a favor and try a cup of the tortilla soup- you're welcome. Be sure to stop by the seashell store with the yellow sign on the way out (Gloria's I believe). She will customize anything for you and it just be try sweet. read more

Service... slow, really slow. Had 4 young grandchildren with us. The last meal came out a full hour after the first. Food was marginal, at best. Amazing for the second time in a row. Tucked a little into the hood in Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco) so wasn't sure about stopping but had some Mexican family with us that spoke fluent Spanish so felt a little more comfortable if we ran into difficulties. Food menu is extensive and perfectly prepared. AND......this restaurant has one of my favorite tequilas (La Martina, Extra Anejo) which I haven't seen anywhere else after a few years of searching in the states. Don't get there often, but will keep going back. Besides, where better to go for Mexican than Mexico?! read more
