Restored two pairs of broken shoes! He repaired them in less than a week. Very inexpensive!

It's a little spot in the back of Gypsy Cupcakes but it is a great place. The owner definitely knows how to fix your shoes.

I don't want to even give a star to the shoe repair place - I went in with three very high end pairs of shoes and they completely ruined one of the pairs by spray painting the shoes! There was even paint on the heal! The buckle on top was gold and they covered that up with paint- couldn't believe my eyes! I try to get my money back and all they did was yell at me as if it were my fault the shoes were ruined. Please please please DO NOT bring your high end shoes here! read more

I did not read the reviews before I went here and glad I didn't. Communications is a limitless issue but that said I had 2 pairs of shoes resoled that came out like they where brand new. I thought his work was very good. I will use their services again. read more

I wish I could fully articulate how defeated and how frustrated I am right now, I trusted this place with my very high end designer boots... when I went to pick them up I realized they had butchered them!! When I communicated with the owner about how he ruined my shoes butchered them how he chipped some of the red how he had filed some of the red bottom down how he applied a black sole guard when it's supposed to be red... He said in however way he could communicate because he does not speak English that he had properly done the job... refused to give me my money back... I called the police and everything this was the worse experience of my life... I went to Avon shoe repair to apply a Sole guard and I left with shoes that now need 100s of dollars worth of work now. If you love an item save yourself the pain and do NOT for nothing in the world take them there... who puts good year sole guards on a Christian Louboutin?! I spoke with several cobbler's and they said that this is the worst they have ever seen... this cobbler partially covered the Christian Louboutin sign underneath the shoe shaved it down and applied the Sole guard!! This guy worked on my dress shoes for years. I just found out he is no longer in business. He had always did a really good job with all my wives boots and all of my shoes. After ready some of these reviews I was wonder if this guy was the same guy that the reviews were about. If you set aside English was his 2nd language and most likely the source of you perceived lack of customer support and him being rude. The only conclusion I could come with is most of these bad complaints came from some very small minded (ignorant) people. For what ever reason he is done ( the guy was older and could be health or worst), BUT THERE WILL BE ANOTHER WHO YOU MIGHT NOT UNDERSTAND or have trouble talking too. The guy is terse but his work should justify itself. So purely on product standpoint - the work was terrible. Needed a leather treatment and polish on a pair of nice boots and I picked them up just "painted" over. Completely wrong color. Also never again. NEVER! Took two pair of Allen Edmonds dress shoes to owner, one to replace heel and sole, and both to shine. Both shoes went in merlot in color. They both were returned brown! After a frustrating exchange where I could not understand one word, it became clear to me that the new color was permanent. I then sent them to Allen Edmonds and for $50 per pair, they restored (as best they could) the original color. I told the owner the he lost me as a customer forever, and he just laughed in my face. Worst customer service EVER! It's seldom I write something negative, usually I just don't return to the business. BUT, people need to be warned about this place. The cobbler speaks so little English you need to use sign language to communicate. IF you get the message across, the work is way too expensive. He is rude and makes YOU feel like it's you're fault you cannot communicate. He may be the only "show" in town...but trust me, go to another town. It's well worth the extra time to go someplace else! I had heels put on Allen Edmonds loafers. I was pleased with the repair and the price. He shined the shoes free and had them ready on time.

I took a pair of Sanitas wood-bottom clogs in to have a simple sock liner done for the toe end as the wood finish is slippery. I explained, with difficulty due to an acute language barrier, that I would like the pre-cut sock liner trimmed down. To my incredible surprise, the owner, refused (yup, REFUSED) to do the work and just walked away. I was a shoe buyer for many years and can't imagine treating a customer like this. Anyone know a VC who wants to fund a customer-service centered shoe repair service? I have a business idea!!! read more

I had a superb experience with Avon Shoe Repair. I asked him to replace the heel on a pair of old leather boots. It was ready in 3 days. I was very pleased with the repair which was a solid job. But he also buffed and cleaned up the soles of the boots, and polished the leather beautifully. The boots came back to me in better condition than I have seen them in years. The cost of the repair was fair ($15). I appreciate the hard working nature of the store owner. He is indeed taciturn but in no ways rude. I will definitely be coming back here with other repairs! read more

I've taken the same pair of heels and had them repaired twice because I use them so often. I like how I can always expect to be in and out of here in under five minutes when dropping off and picking up. Yes, the owner doesn't engage in small talk but I think his work speaks for him. I took two things to Avon Shoe Repair. A strap came off my Bass sandals. I love them and was worried they were done and had to be tossed. But he repaired it seamlessly and they turned out great. Also took my black Bostonian's to be re-heeled. Came out great and he even polished them. Was ready on time and at a reasonable price. I was nervous about taking it there after the horrible reviews but I had a good experience there even if spoke very little English. read more

I took my husband's expensive dress shoes for a simple repair and when I returned for them they weren't there. He asked me to come back later which I did only to discover he had given them to another customer! He couldn't speak English so he called his daughter so I could speak with her. After too much trouble I was able to retrieve them a few weeks later! read more

The Chinese man the owner is not nice at all. Doesn't speak English well and can't understand the request I made to repair my boots. Then after understanding it all, he wanted to charge me $65 to repair soles of boots. But he was so unprofessional and not nice. I went in (also not having read the previous reviews) to get some leather repair work on an instrument of mine. The guy took the strap pretty quickly (before I thought I had really explained what I wanted done) and kind of rushed away. I was a little worried and he told me to come back in an hour. I showed up and sure enough, he did pretty much exactly what I wanted for a reasonable price. Not sure about his shoe work, but glad I got this taken care of. read more

Had a pair of birkenstock shoes (not sandals) that needed to have side seams repaired. Person (think it was owner) didn't seem interested in taking on such a "small" repair. He did repair the seams but the repairs were noticeable (looked like novice stitching). Might be better at larger/more costly repairs. Found a shoe place in Unionville, CT that has done small repairs for me with GREAT results. read more

Wish I had read the previous two reviews before i took my favorite and expensive boots there. Just wanted the heels repaired. When I went to pick up the boots they were an entirely different color. Actually, they were multiple colors. And the heels looked like a kindegartner painted over them. No color matching whatsoever. Language barrier is a huge issue. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the boots. They didn't charge me the $16 for the repair as an apology for ruining my boots. Really??? They need to be taken to small claims court since this seems to be a consistent problem. How do they remain in business with these types of incidents? My boots were a light gray/tan when I brought them in and now they are a glossy, dark, blotchy brown. All kinds of color variation and dye stains. Unbelievable. Stay away from this place!! read more

Very poor service. I dropped off my shoes and put down a full deposit. When a family member went back to pick them up, he lied to them and said that I did not pre-pay. He ended up double charging me. A huge language barrier made explaining the situation impossible. In short, DO NOT GO. This guy is a crook! read more
