I find vail urgent care extremely UNHELPFUL IF YOU ARE SICK. Unless you are dying of flu or covid or the rev what ever that is resperatorry illness they do NOTHING. The PA we saw was very rude. Everyone else we met was kind and helpful. Took a strep test that gives results in 10 min and the PA came in 1 hour after we took the test and did not tell us the results until we asked. read more

I understand that when you have a bacterial infection they have to run a culture to see what to proscribe. What I don't understand as why I had to call them to get the result and the proper medication. 5 DAYS OF HELL. The reason? The PA that dealt with me was on vacation. No one there or any protocol to take care of there patient. Never again! read more

Waited an hour in the waiting room - not ideal but fine. Then an hour and a half in a private room after being processed by a nurse. Why bring me back to sit for so long ? while waiting I set up a telehealth account bc I am not going there again! Upon going to pick up the prescription an hour and a half later it had still not been sent over... waste of a $50 copay. Employees were kind but no real regard for anyone's time clearly. I called my telehealth provider to send over the prescription which took no time at all. Wish I saved myself the 2 hours and then $50 read more

Went in for stitches on my thumb... left with six. The next day I only had 2 left. The nurse was shooting the numbing medicine on herself instead of inside my thumb. Over charged and had to connect with someone "upper management" that took 4-5 weeks to finally say I didn't owe anything. Very poor customer service read more

We came from out of town to avon urgent care. Because it was highly recommended. They are open till 8:00 pm. We arrived at 7:30 and it was closed. The sign on the door says 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. And no one was there. We knocked and pushed the button and Noone ever came. Why do they have a sign saying open daily 8 to 8 if they aren't going to honor it. I am very angry about this. read more

Showed no empathy or care at all because of a miniscule bill outstanding. Train your staff to be a little more caring and a little less, "deal with the ER costs." Your desk staff left a lot to be desired. read more

Solid! They have a lot of great resources here and intelligent practitioners. It's as good as a large-city urgent care, in terms of on-site testing and resources. I haven't seen the bill as I gave an insurance card - so I can't comment on the billing. In terms of quality, I was pleased. read more

The perfect example of what is wrong with American healthcare. My roommate was really sick so I went to Avon Urgent Care to make sure I wasn't getting sick. I waited for over an hour to see a doctor for less than 10 minutes. He listened to my chest and told me I should be fine in a few days. I was charged almost $400 for the visit - $196 for the doctor's time and another $180 service fee for the use of the facilities. Some quick math puts the doctor's hourly rate at roughly $1176/hour. At the time I was making $9.20/hour. Just to put that in perspective, the doctor was making almost 130 times more than I was at the time. It must be nice to be so important to charge such a high rate. As for the $180 facility fee, I used some hand sanitizer and a few tissues to blow my nose. It might be time for me to get into the hand sanitizer or tissue business if those things are really that expensive. Maybe I was charged to keep the lights or the heat on in the exam room? My insurance covered a small portion of the visit and I managed to pay $196 for the doctor. I still have to pay the remainder of the facility fee. I definitely will be thinking twice before going to a place like this again. read more

Billing FRAUD. They ADVERTISE as an URGENT CARE(E.G. The Sign on the building!), but they bill as an EMERGENCY ROOM. Blue Cross has confirmed they used an EMERGENCY ROOM HOSPITAL billing code which kicked in lots of extra fees that Blue Cross is not covering. We have gone back and forth with their billing department for 4 months now, with contradicting answers. Ultimately, a "Tony", who answers the billing department and refuses to give any employee ID or a last name, said it is my responsibility to pay the emergency room bill and that the codes entered by Avon Urgent Care were correct. RUN AWAY unless you want thousands of dollars in uncovered insurance claims for an office visit. The staff were all very nice and knowledgeable, HOWEVER, this place is INCREDIBLY inefficient. It took over 3 hours to go in for 3 stitches. They had one person to clean the wound, one to inspect it and stitch it, one to X-ray it, and one to bandage it. All different people! Oh, and not to mention incredibly long wait times in between. While I received good care for which I have no complaints, payments have been another story. I have a recurring medical problem requiring me to occasionally seek urgent care. I'd estimated the rates at Avon Urgent Care are about about twice the national average, although I've paid as little as 1/5th of their rate for similar service. Avon Urgent Care billed my insurance company as if my visit was a routine office visit, not an urgent care visit, causing my insurance company to reject the claim as 'out-of-network.' Since the claim was rejected, I am required to pay the *full* amount charged by Avon Urgent Care, not the discounted rate negotiated by my insurance company. I've repeatedly requested that my case be refiled as an 'urgent care' visit over the last four months, but have gotten nowhere. So, now I'm suck paying for services at a very high rate rather than the much lower rate negotiated by my insurance company because of the billing codes chosen by Avon Urgent Care. I will update this review if Avon Urgent Care refiles my visit as an urgent care visit and not as a routine office visit with my insurer. read more

Do not use the Avon Urgent Care unless you have called your insurance beforehand and know the payment going in. It is way way way overpriced and you will pay. I have a good insurance with a high deductible so I pay out of pocket. I walked in for a 10 minute strep test. That is it. Bill was almost $400. Not a typo. $400. They refuse to negotiate and claim it is a reasonable cost. Seek medical care elsewhere if you can. read more

Went to see Dr. Shannon Garton in the Avon Clinic with a sore throat and fever. She spent 10-15 minutes evaluating me and writing a prescription. I was charged $485.25 and it has been explained to me that there is a sign that (and I'm quoting the billing person) "a lot of people miss" that tells me I will be billed as if they were an emergency room. Kind of shady operation. Go somewhere else, or at least go to an actual emergency room so you can feel less cheated. read more
