Great park. My granddaughter and I spent a half day here (her choice for her and I's Me-Time. We were blessed with a perfect Arizona day and she played and played and played. Lots of other children (and parents and grandparents like me) so they just all had a blast with each other. It was an excellent day and I was impressed with how the older kids helped push the youngers on swings and the Merry-Go-Round. (Hey... I did my share of pushing too!) I loved the park at first, bathrooms were clean. It was quiet out there and peaceful my daughter enjoyed the playground. The only issue I have with this park is the animal neglect. They have a pond with many many ducks, pigeons, geese and I'm assuming the fish are suppose to be alive. But Avondale city needs to get out there and clean that filthy pond. There are dozens of dead fish floating and it stinks of rotten dead bodies. The water is nearly boiling in not sure if this is the cause of all the dead fish. But someone will get sick if they touch that polluted sickly water. I see a lawsuit in Avondale city's future soon. Please get this cleaned up for the public read more

We had a boys football banquet here and what a clean and neat park. More than enough trash cans around the park and they were empty. Bathrooms were clean for it being a park and the soap dispensers were always full. Reservations were really easy to make for a table and everyone was respectful of the others time. We didn't have to worry about the kids around the park because you can see the entire park from wherever you are. What a great way to spend a beautiful Sunday afternoon! Definitely plan on having more outdoor events here. read more

Great park! We have been coming here for a few years now. There is something for everyone of all ages to do. This park is big, they have multiple playgrounds throughout for kids of all ages. They also have a fishing pond, splash pad, baseball field, soccer field, basketball courts, tennis courts, and even a walking trail around the perimeter of the park. With so many things to do here, It's no wonder it's always packed, especially on weekends when there are always birthday parties and baseball games going on. The gazebo by the duck pond reeks and is always full of trash though. They have many restrooms throughout but I don't do public restrooms so I'm not sure of their conditions. The park is very well lit at night so you can stay late with the kids on the playground or just to finish a nice game of tennis. The park is always buzzing well into the night which is perfect for those hot summer days. Oh yeah, there's also an elote man by the splash pad to fulfill all your snacking needs. I used to go to this park years ago before they remodeled. And I must say I love what they did with the playgrounds and adding a splash pad. I haven't used the splash pad yet but I love that it's gated in and shaded. There are 3 playgrounds and they are also shaded. There's also a dog park west side of the park. There's plenty of parking throughout the park. I'm knocking one star off for their restrooms. While the ones by the south east playground was open, the others weren't. They had porta potties in front of the closed bathrooms which I don't understand why. I'm also knocking another star off because the amount of older men driving around slowly and suspiciously by ALL the playgrounds. I don't think I will come back without my husband. If you go alone/with your kids, take in your surroundings and be aware. read more

My mother and I started coming here back in late 2017, when my 100 year old aunt went on hospice, and a volunteer would stop by to give us a few hours break. It made for a very nice time, as it was usually pretty peaceful and serene, as we enjoyed feeding the various waterfowl (Canadian geese, mallards, etc) and the land. Birds who are brave enough to get up close to their distant cousins who were up to 10x their size. Then, when my mom went on Hospice, and after she passed away, I too came here about once a week. But, today was my first here in almost a year. The critters were pretty hungry, and I went through over a whole loaf of bread crumbs pretty quickly. I then sat back to eat my sub that I had purchased a little earlier in the day. While I didn't have to fight the birds for my sandwich, I did have a few of 'em that appeared to be begging, as their glance went from my eyes to my sub, and back again. It made for a nice break from the hum drum of everyday existence. Well, crud. I know (at least I went the motions to) I took a couple of pictures. But, I missed the shutter button (hard to see in bright Sun light). Oh, well. Next time. read more

Really Nice Park Friendship Park is really a beautiful park with 3 different playgrounds, 2 dog parks, multiple fields, diamonds, tennis courts and a walking path. The park is a nice size, well groomed, with a shaded play area for children and the restrooms are very clean. A great park for family gatherings, pinics, or just relaxing. Love taking my granddaughter here! There is literally something for everyone at this expansive property. Please feed the ducks and such seed ONLY if you must feed them. There are so many birds at the pond my granddaughter giggles like crazy when they try and swarm her. Just precious. Upkeep is great and it's the ultimate for families. Awesome. read more

I used to love this park but it's gone downhill over the last couple years. :( There's always trash everywhere, which brings a bunch of ants that swarm around old food and it's just a gross environment. I really love the splash pad area but the trash and ant problem is over there too. If they could have better maintenance around the park it would be a really nice place to visit. Friendship park is well known to soccer and baseball enthusiast as there are plenty of fields and diamonds galore. However, some of the little jewels about this place is that there are tennis courts just behind the basketball courts and a wonderful play area that is filled with wood chips and carefully spaced out so many children can safely play at the same time. There are bathrooms on site and the ones near the play area are always well lit and sanitary. Folks also come here to feed the ducks in the duck pond, shave some calories off the overall intake for the day by running the trail, or just by hanging out. There is a picnic area and BBQ grills. There is plenty of room for parking if you dont mind walking otherwise it gets tight down towards the baseball diamonds and play area. This is a great park to come teach a child how to ride a bike, play any kind of sport or just be a kid. Great for friends, family, loved ones and just a walk and a decent backdrop for one of those kinda nights for you and your sweetheart. read more

The towns soccer fields are all dead grass. (But the big fields used for tournaments etc are all in good shape of course) The playground near the soccer fields needs updating/safety evaluation. There are big drops on the slides to the ground (at least 2.5 feet till your feet touch the ground) and the slides are FAST. Even my 7.5 year old falls sometimes at the end. It's not toddler friendly as the playground is several different levels. It's obvious that it's been neglected over the years and is in serious need of a safety evaluation. I saw the swings were all off on Saturday with caution tape around them. Hopefully they decided to start with some changes. I'm Surprised updates weren't made during the huge renovation last year! We love this park. It's way better than anything we have in South Phoenix. They are always updating and making sure it's clean. The one park by the water activities is always packed, but it's a big area so not overwhelmed. I take my kids to the one the one by the baseball fields and there is usually only one or two more families and it's easier to keep track of my kids. read more

I've been to this park 3 times in that past few months and this was our last visit. We've tried the three different play areas for children and they're all disgusting and dirty. There was even vomit on one of the slides. Ironically enough, there are always workers on the fields so I don't understand why this place is always so dirty. Stopped here while driving cross-country... lots of room for dogs to roam and play! they have it separated by big active dogs and little sedentary dogs... they were out of bags which a regular said is a normal thing... luckily i had plenty of bags to share! it was convenient to the freeway which was good for the passer-through! read more

Going by new York park standards I would rate this park with one star. But, I have lived in Arizona since 1998 so I am rating this based on the location. This is a nicely kept west side park, very convenient right off McDowell rd and Dysart. Lots of paved sidewalks to push a stroller, and the pond is peaceful with lots of ducks, geese, and turtles. The Asian inspired gazebo at one end of the pond is nice and shaded. Clean. Playground areas are nicely kept. I'd give this park five stars if it had more benches and more shade trees. The benches that are there around the border of the pond are in the sun. Nice playground areas for the kids. read more

The dog park here is awesome. I wish it just wasn't pushed so far back. They have a fun farmers market on Sat. mornings as well as a duck feeding pond and PLENTY of soccer fields and picnic spots. It doesn't top my favorite park in Surprise but it is a place we enjoy going to! read more
