Nothing fancy but three different fenced in areas with water and shade and benches. I like going as it is less crowded.

My dogs came home with rashes all over their bellies. What are they spraying in this place?

This has got to be one of the best parks in Phoenix. My wife and I frequent Cesar Chavez Park…read morefrequently. We love to take walks around the magnificent lake which has an incredibly good and convenient concrete path good for walking, jogging or biking! They have plenty of trash receptacles, lots of shade trees and benches for watching the water or the birds. My recommendation of Cesar Chavez Park may sound like a commercial, but I wholeheartedly think it is an underutilized place. Sure, I encounter many families enjoying the picnic areas, kids on the playground area, some fishing going on... but mainly on weekends. This place beets the mall anytime for wiling the time away, enjoying some fresh air or just contemplating Mother Nature at its best as structured by man. It's amazing what this park has to offer, everything one can imagine or want and hard to think so much is here in a park like Ball Field; Basketball Court; Dog Park; Drinking Fountains; Grill/Picnic Area; Playground; Racquetball Court; Recreation/Community Center; Restrooms; Shade Structures; Skate Park; Soccer Field; Tennis Court; Urban Fishing; Volleyball Court; and Lake. This is one of the best local parks, recreation and cultural facilities, and uses of open spaces in Phoenix. We are so happy that we happened to be just a few minutes' drive from it.

Cesar Chavez Park is a not- so- little gem in the Laveen area…read more Located near Baseline Rd and 35th Ave., this park is fairly expansive and offers something for everyone. There's plenty of green space for an impromptu ball game with friends, a picnic with family or a run on your own. The pond is stocked with fish, so feel free to bring your pole along. In the mood for a read? Check out the on site library. If you're in the mood to read aloud, the geese and swans may volunteer to be your audience. LOL! It's amazing to have such a gem in the Phoenix area. Don't deprive yourself. Check it out!

Looking for a fun, scenic adventure that almost anyone can enjoy? Head to White Tank Mountain…read moreRegional Park and take on the Waterfall Trail! The trail is mostly paved, easy to follow, and packed with beautiful desert scenery. Once you reach the end, the real adventure begins. Climb the stone steps, scramble carefully over the boulders, and explore the waterfall area. During certain times of the year, you may even find water collected in the pool below. Be sure to look up! There are two additional natural pools tucked into the rocks above your head, with plants growing along the cliffs and birds making themselves right at home. Keep watch for the local hawk that loves to perch dramatically on top of a nearby saguaro cactus. The true treasures of this trail are the ancient petroglyphs created by the Hohokam people. Many can be seen inside the protected, marked areas, but sharp-eyed explorers may spot even more etched into the surrounding rocks. They are incredible reminders of the people who lived in this desert long before us. I take nearly every visitor we have on this hike, no matter the season. It is one of my favorite places to show off the beauty, history, and adventure of Arizona! There are bathrooms and picnic tables near the trailhead, so pack some water, bring a picnic, and make a day of it!
