There is an abundance of gym equipment, weights, space, etc. Surprised to also see so many bumper plates and squat racks! They even have a cinema room to watch something while you work out. The gym requires you to leave your bags in the locker room, normally I carry around some equipment in my bag to help with my workouts but I feel, you don't have to worry about not finding what you need. People seemed respectful of the gym and put things back where they belong. Not sure if it's always like this but I went on thanksgiving day. We used our family's guest pass to get in. We asked about day passes and they said $10/visit. Side notes: there was a children's play area for people who needs a babysitter while they get active. Saw multiple bathing suit dryers in the women's locker room, ample dressing stalls/bathrooms, showers, etc and super clean!

poor experience with personal training staff and with membership services…read more gym equipment was ok and i enjoyed coming to the location for several months. personal trainer was ok when they showed up. had a few sessions, but then however they forgot our appointment time three times and had to cancel our sessions. later when i tried to cancel my membership all of the cancellation process is via email and is separate from the local gym making the cancellation process unnecessarily complicated. they also want to charge a hefty exit fee. i show up at the gym to speak with staff and the manager and person in charge of the personal trainer section are not in during normal working hours. beyond them, there is no one at the gym to help me process the refunds and/or cancellation process. buyer beware

Your average ship has better gyms than this base gym. If for whatever reason you got to workout on base, you are better off either going to the base gym on Oceana, the waterfront gym on the Norfolk base-or even the Langley AFB gym, which is extremely well taken care of. First and only time I'll be at this gym on Little Creek.

Each Anytime has its little quirks and they're all different sizes. This is the first one I started going to and it's pretty small so I would only recommend going late during the day (after 7) or late at night (after 10). They have every weight and machine needed to work out each part of your body but it's just really small compared to the others. The only thing I don't really enjoy with Anytime is paying $33/month, while there's other gym's that offer more or just about the same for much less. But that's on me because I didn't do my research before choosing my gym. The only times I am at the gym are late at night so I do not see any staff members. But all the other members seem to have a very well mannered logic to them. No one tries to hog machines and everyone wipes down their equipment when done from what I've noticed. So the environment is pretty chill.

Pierside opened back up in January after some pretty snazzy upgrades. They have added almost twice…read moreas many racks, got rid of the platforms and put in rubber matting, added 40yards of AstroTurf for sleds and sprints, and doubled the amount of dumbbells. I appreciated the gritty environment from before the upgrade but the management here has done a good job with the here. They also have a few more cardio and cable machines upstairs if you're into that. Probably the "coolest" addition is the Big Ass fan downstairs.

When my 11 year old Grandson comes from Brooklyn he doesn't want to go to the Beach. He wants to…read morego to the pool at the Rec Center. He loves it. That says it all about the pool. A wonderful benefit of my Medicare Supplemental plan is free access to lots of gyms, including the Rec Centers. So I get free cards without having to pay the city resident's annual fee. Recently my use has been limited to watching from the bleachers while my son & grandson swim. Also I love early voting at the Rec Center. In my earlier pre knee replacement days & before retiring I would walk to the Rec Center to both swim & use the machines in the work out room. The pool is great for water walking & other non impact exercises that I learned in a pre knee surgery physical therapy program at another facility. The machines in the weight room were also knee strengthening learned from previous Physical Therapy. Because of the swim teams & classes offered I learned the best time for the pool was when the Rec Center first opened for the day. There were always tons of people waiting for the door to open. The crowd mainly consisted of seniors who would go to the pool every day or do gym walking decked out in fashionable sweatsuits, probably widows or widowers trying to attract a new spouse. The Senior crew that chose the pool didn't interfere with any of my exercises. There was a group who spent their time in a circle treading water & gossiping. Since I knew a few I was invited to join, which I did from time to time. Those sessions provided me with all the scoop on everything happening In Bayside at the time. The crowd left when classes began, which gave me time to get home & ready for work. The weight room is well stocked with equipment on which one had to do a short training session before using. The early crowd there consisted of buff guys who wanted to work out before work. The Rec Center consists of much, much more. There are a plethora of classes ranging from Crafting to Yoga & Pilates, which I really should take advantage of. Workout groups are offered. There is a racquet ball court that seems very popular. Adjacent is a disc golf center. The very large indoor pool offers an open area, swimming lanes, diving section & much, much more. I wish it had built when my son was young & was on a nearby Bayside neighborhood swim team. The bleachers & lounging area outside the pool window wall offer a great view for parents to watch. It's such a wonderful facility to be in the neighborhood. Thank you Virginia Parks & Recreation.

The staff is always super nice and are super helpful whenever I have questions. The studio is very clean and neat. Racks and platforms as far as the eye can see, never a wait for equipment, and the gym is always clean. My only complaint is that during the winter they keep it way too hot, but that's just my personal preference and not a reason to deduct a star. Only reason I left is because I found a CrossFit gym closer to home. Otherwise, if you're looking for a serious gym to train hard and lift heavy , this is a great place

This was one of the first studios I tried out since moving to Virginia Beach recently. I signed up…read morefor the intro pass which was $30 for 30 days which is a great deal for anyone looking to try the classes. I tried the RYA lite, Funky Flodown and FUNdamentals classes. After doing all three, I believe the it's the same temperature for all classes. Each class I've gone to were pretty full. I don't know if it's the way the room is structured in an L and not a square/rectangle or the windows being covered by curtains and I could see outside some... I was mentally distracted in that place. This may be a me thing. Instructors were really good. I did go to a FUNdamentals class on 6/26 (whoever was teaching that day) I absolutely enjoyed it. He gave excellent cues that really helped me. Any instructor that gives good cues to help visualize a pose is a win in my books. All classes were a good workout. You will come out sweaty and feeling glad you went. This is a contender in my books to sign up for membership.
