I have jokingly said, "this is the best fraternity in the world", but honestly, it seems to be true. In a house filled with men of different ages, all of the clients sharing the common goal of sobriety, the camaraderie there is palpable. The residents each bring their own experiences and strengths to the home, creating an atmosphere where the clients can learn and grow with support and confidence. The staff is dedicated and caring, going above and beyond to inspire the clients to embrace the most positive aspects of their own characters. Perhaps the greatest blessing for my son is that many of the clients living there are also musicians. Lance, the owner and founder of Rancho Park Recovery, is a musician himself, and he clearly recognized the need for there to be a separate space in the house where the musicians can play and create music. In this space, they can explore and expand their musical passions with like-minded people. This is a priceless gift to the clients. My son has been at Rancho Park for over year now, and has continued to grow and thrive in all aspects of his life. Although I believe his progress is mainly due to his own commitment to himself, I know that the house he resides in and the people surrounding him have played essential roles in his continuing journey. Your support means so much... I sincerely thank you. Dede

The staff encourages daily fellowship and sharing and is extremely understanding of all of the challenges of early sobriety. They know everyone has their own goals to get back on track to living independently. He has support in getting resources for these goals and a watchful eye to help hold him accountable when needed. Music is extremely important to him so the music room has been crucial for him to stay connected with himself and others. My experience at Overland IOP & PHP has been supportive from the start. The quality of care is excellent, with a dedicated clinical team that is knowledgeable, compassionate, and attentive to individual needs. The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offers a structured, intensive approach, while the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides flexibility for those balancing treatment with daily life. Both programs incorporate individual therapy, group sessions, and medication management, creating a well-rounded treatment plan. The office experience has been smooth--staff members are friendly, organized, and accommodating. The facility itself is clean, welcoming, and designed to foster a comfortable healing environment. While every treatment journey is personal, I found Overland to be a supportive and effective place for growth and recovery. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a well-structured and compassionate program. Shout out to Gabe for running a clean efficient operation in collaboration with the MANY other staff who were excellent including Zach and Dillon responsive case managers, Chanti therapist and Leah life skills coach.

Each group and facilitator offered a different perspective and toolkit to help me get out of survival mode and start living life as my true self. The weekly programming is intentional and thorough, addressing the mind, body, and spirit. Boxing with Eldar and yoga with Sarah helped bring me back into my body. Nutrition with Lotta taught me how fundamentally linked nutrition is with mental health. Narrative therapy with Isabel helped me reconnect with the younger, wounded parts of myself, and begin to integrate them into my life. I can go on and on about the wide range of groups and expertise among group facilitators. There is something for everyone, and you get out of it what you put in. The entire staff, from the administrative and billing staff, to the group facilitators, are exceptional. I would recommend Overland to anyone seeking mental health/addiction treatment. It is truly a magical place.

Don't get me wrong life is still life, with good days and bad but I have been given the education and tools to deal with life in ways other then drinking. While I was in treatment I had the opportunity to talk with a lot of people and made some life long friends and when they found out where I was being treated they were truly glad for me. If you need help with additions this is a great place to recover. I have been told by other people in the field that with the severity of my alcoholism (end stage) that I'm a walking miracle. God must have been looking out for me to put me in this place where they only take 6 clients at a time. I don't know if I would have had the same outcome if I would have gone to a place with crowds of people. I will always and forever give back to the cause of helping fellow alcoholics and others with addictions. To all my friends and staff I Love My Life and thank you for helping make that possible.

From the moment I arrived, I was treated with kindness, patience, and compassion. Going through an injury and rehabilitation can be physically and emotionally difficult, but all of you worked together to make me feel safe, comfortable, and hopeful. Your positive attitudes made such a meaningful difference in my recovery. To the doctors, thank you for carefully overseeing my treatment, answering my questions, and making sure that I was progressing safely. To the occupational and physical therapists, thank you for your patience, motivation, and dedication. You encouraged me to keep moving forward, even when the exercises were difficult or when I was unsure of what I could accomplish. You helped me regain my strength, confidence, balance, and independence. Every exercise, every step, and every lesson brought me closer to being able to return home safely. To the nurses, thank you for being there throughout the day and night and for always paying close attention to my needs. Your kindness, gentleness, and compassion brought me so much comfort. I would also like to thank the nursing assistants, case managers, social workers, rehabilitation staff, and everyone else who contributed to my care and recovery. Every person played an important role. What impressed me most was the way all of you worked together as one team. Together, you created such a warm, caring, and positive atmosphere. I never imagined that I would be able to make so much progress and return home within only one week. Because of your hard work, encouragement, and belief in me, I was able to accomplish much more than I thought possible. Please know how deeply I appreciate everything you did for me. Your work truly changes people's lives, and I feel very fortunate to have been cared for by such an extraordinary group of people. Each of you contributed to my recovery in your own special way, and I will never forget it. Thank you very much for all your help, attention, patience, and care. You are all amazing, and I am incredibly grateful to every member of the team. With my deepest appreciation and warmest wishes.

I knew I couldn't just have the surgery and go straight home, alone. I knew that I was going to need some help. Well, I met a woman at my neurosurgeon's office at one of my appointments. I saw that she had her cuff on her neck and I asked her if she had just had her surgery, how did it go? She told me it went well and I asked her where did she go after surgery and she told me about ARU. She explained that it was a complete rehabilitation program that's located on the 4th floor inside of Southern California Hospital but was a separate program from the hospital that provided complete rehabilitation services and that it was excellent. She kept pointing out that it was a program separate from the hospital and that it was amazing. When I saw my surgeon I told him that I wanted to go to the rehabilitation center on the 4th floor at the hospital and he set it up. The surgery went very well, but I developed a very rare complication that caused me a tremendous amount of pain, that no one could figure out, but the Acute Recovery Unit's team did everything possible to make sure that I was as comfortable as I could be and was rehabilitating well. Each patient has a private room and bathroom. The rooms are spacious, with cable tv, every need is provided, including snacks. All pain medications and other medications are safely administered, on time (this is important after major surgery) and adjustments are made as necessary. The ARU team works closely with all of your medical professionals, like a well oiled machine. One night my favorite nurse Alex gave me my pain medication and when I woke up many hours later, I saw that she had surrounded my body with ice bags and I had slept like a baby. Alex knew that I was struggling with pain and she noticed that like I was telling everyone, that the pain medication was not working for me; and she went above and beyond to find a solution to help me get some relief and some rest. They have the coolest physical therapists. my favorite was Miki. He was easy to work with, we would talk and pick what genre of music or what artists we were gonna listen to while he set up the exercise and he explained what we were going to work on. Once I got the hang of it, he would just start doing the exercise and I would easily join him. All of the Occupational Therapists were bomb.com!Did I mention we had private rooms, our own bathroom and cable? Oh yeah. I absolutely was as comfortable as can be at ARU. The Occupational Therapists saw that I was already taking care of my ADLs, and they made sure that I was doing everything safely. They taught me how to roll out of bed slowly without hurting myself and taught me how I was supposed to sit up, and the proper way to hold my head. They prepared me for small chores that I could do at home. They made sure that I was absolutely clear on what I could and could not do. They took me outside for walks. I progressed fabulously. Both teams of therapists are friendly, fun, very helpful and professional. We went to the gym three times a day. The gym is fully furnished with all of the equipment you need to rebuild your body after serious surgery. When I was gathering my things to go the first time I and was told that I had graduated the program! Unfortunately, on Cinco de Mayo my extremely rare complications caused me to have to have to come back through the ER. Tests were ran and the problem was found. I was admitted and my amazing surgeons got me ready for another surgery. I dreaded that part and I hated the ICU...but I knew that the ARU was waiting for me and I looked forward to that part of my recovery. I knew what to expect and went in, knowing what I needed to do even though physically I was challenged. I knew that they were going to get me together, just like before. When I made it back to the fourth floor after the 2nd surgery and all the tough stuff that goes with it, I was truly blessed to be back in heaven at ARU. ARU was the sweet spot of having to have surgery, twice. I came back and enjoyed the same quality care that I enjoyed the first time. The second time around was much easier than the first time. I never lost or relapsed in what I had learned as far as rehabilitation was concerned. My visitors and my mom were blown away both times about how well I was treated and how I was able to engage openly with staff members. My mother said that they treated me like royalty and I agreed with her. Everyone treated me like a precious jewel on this 4th floor heaven in the hospital. I'm just so grateful for ARU and I would recommend the Acute Recovery Unit to anyone who needs extra care after having major surgeries or injuries. You will not regret the experience. I mean it!
