I brought my guitar in for repair for fret buzzing. When I came back to pickup my acoustic there was a crack on the top of the wood. My credit card was also charged 2x for the same repair. The technician said to take it up with the manager & that he was sure they would be able to handle it but when I returned on Monday the next week they said there wasn't anything they could do for me about the crack. The manager did tell me they would remove the charge for the repair which it would seem makes it look like they are trying to cover up things from their end. I ended up taking the hit & being sold the wrong case that was supposed to be a hard shell. I have been coming to Guitar center for years & this is disappointing. Big big thanks to Justin, Chris and Alan, they made sure that I was able to test studio monitors, get exactly what I came in for, at a price that was just right. Had a couple issues testing equipment close to closing time, but the next day Justin (the store manager) made sure that everything was working so I could listen to the differences and make my decision based on sound, not reviews. Alan was trying his darndest the previous night to get everything going for me but we came up empty handed as he's not the pro-audio guy, but he spent a good 30 minutes trying to make it work. Chris was able to get it going the following day and let me listen to what I wanted to hear, he was able to give me great feedback on speakers, what I should think about when deciding, etc. On top of that he was super friendly, as were the rest of the guys there. He was helping a couple at the time so I waited until he was done. Once he was done he started helping me with looking for the speaker but once I started speaking with another customer Mino then turned his attention elsewhere and started helping another customer without letting me know anything. My first time coming to this location because the West LA location closed down. Not familiar with where to go to ask for help, I go to the first employee I see behind a desk. He's typing away, never bothered to give me a glance, smile or say hi l I'll be right with you, etc. So after a bit of awkwardness I say "Hi are you available?" He gives a very stern, glaring me in the eye "No." Please learn to treat your customers with more respect. I would've appreciated a "hey I'm helping another client, I can be with you shortly." (It didn't appear that he was with anybody.) Or at least direct me to another associate. It's not hard to at least pretend to be friendly. After a few seconds he ends up saying "what do you need?" I let him know what I need help with and finally he says he'll be there in a few. I waited there and he just huffs and says annoyed "I'll meet you there." I take that as his way of saying F-Off. At this point I was about ready to leave and take my business elsewhere. But in the nick of time, another employee (Jonathan per my receipt) comes and asks if I need help with anything. I recently went to this guitar center to have some work done on my acoustic guitar, but after i dropped it off. I started to look at the electric guitars. One 2021 Gibson Explorer 80s reissue caught my eye. After playing it, I was interested in buying. The salesman I think is name was John, was very friendly, gave me a good deal and did a set up. I've had the guitar a month now and am very happy with it. I gave the place 4 stars instead of 5 because I was told the work on my acoustic guitar would take 2 weeks and it ended up being 3 weeks. I also had to call a few times to get an update on the progress on the guitar. However, overall I feel good about my experience buying my Gibson and the work that was done on my acoustic. read more

LIED to by ERNESTO in Repair Dept. NEVER GO HERE!! As a professional musician for past 30 years, I am appalled by the treatment I received from Ernesto in the repair department of Guitar Center. I brought my guitar in for a set-up. Asked specifically if he was familiar with the brand and could do it. "YES," he replied (not true, though!). 10 days passed, and I called to check. Ernesto was out for a couple days, but should be able to have it ready by next Friday's closing(!). No news on Friday. I called Saturday and spoke with Ernesto. He would be getting to it "next. About 40 minutes." (also not true). No news. So I called again on Saturday. Spoke with Ernesto. He said he was "In the middle of it" (lie!) and it should be ready by closing...but he would call me. No surprise...no call. So I went the next day to Guitar Center to pick up my guitar. Ernesto is not there, and another employee locates my guitar - completely untouched. Exactly as I had left it 2 1/2 weeks before!! WTF?! I guess this guy was NEVER going to get to my guitar. Was he just waiting for me to give up & pick it up?! This is just sad. Connar in pro audio was extremely helpful when i inquired about a used microphone listed online. He went above and beyond to answer questions about the mic and inspection process and even tracked down the mic to look at it with his own eyes and verify its condition compared to another of the same mic listed. I called a different guitar center previously about the same model mic they had listed and was not met with this level of professionalism or effort. Inexplicably rude customer service from Maya who seemed hellbent on being unfriendly and unhelpful from the start. I came here with my daughter to get a ukelele based on a recommendation from her teacher. I look for the person recommended and Maya already looking annoyed says "audio pro" as if I'm supposed to know what that means. I tell her I don't know where that is and she points me towards it with the same annoyed look on her face. I can't find anyone there so I ask another employee who describes the person and goes to look for him. A while passes so I go look for the employee and see him doing other errands. I ask him if he's found the guy (since he didn't bother to get back to me). He says he didn't find him. At some point, we finally find the guy and settle on a ukulele. We go to check out and I asked the employee if they price match (sticker on the ukulele says "price match guaranteed"). He says yes and proceeds to ring it up. He then tells me it's not coming up in the system. Maya then comes over and says what are you trying to price match it to? And I tell her the price from musician's friend. The other employee says, I think that's actually one of our brands. And it is. They are a subsidiary of guitar center. She tells me the best she can do is 10% off the guitar center price. And I said, so you don't price match? She then tells the employee go ask another employee (likely the manager) to add the item to the system but that if it were her, she wouldn't do the sale. What?? So you're actually trying to not sell me the item? And you're being super rude about it? It literally says price match guaranteed on the actual price tag and the brand I'm asking to price match it to is their brand. How does that make sense? Mind you, I never even pointed out the price match policy or argued about it. Just asked if they price match and when she vaguely said no, asked for confirmation that they indeed don't price match. I'm actually ready to just leave because why would I want to buy from a place that treats customers like this. I can obviously get it somewhere else. So it really doesn't matter to me if you price match it or not. It's your loss not mine. But the employee comes back and says they got it in the system and they can price match. If I didn't need the ukulele next week, I definitely would've just bought it online from their subsidiary. After spending an excruciating 1.5 hours here, we're finally done with the transaction. Which also tells you about how efficiently this place is run. Truly mind boggling how bad this simple purchase was. I hope they treat their musician customers better because they treated us first time non-musician customers like crap. I regret that I bought from here but I definitely won't make the same mistake twice. If you're considering between this place and somewhere else, do yourself a favor and skip this place. read more

Things are looking up at Lawndale Guitar Center. I was in about 7:30pm last night and I was greeted immediately by Jon who took care of me once again and made some great suggestions. The problem of visitors coming in packs to commandeer the acoustic room was not an issue this time. I was actually able to hear what I was playing :o). There were a couple stray people experiencing some of the guitars but that is only natural and that's how we fall in love with instruments. The employees have to listen to us lousy musicians all day on the job and I have to give them credit for enduring that and still maintaining a patient attitude. There were a couple employees who were willing to help last night and I really appreciated feeling like a valued customer. This store has the absolute worst customer service. We walked in to buy banjo pics and were ignored by the staff stocking the shelves. When we asked where the pics were the response was surly but when pressed, he grudgingly showed us. When we tried to checkout he again tersely responded he did not work the register. Out of the four or five employees on premises apparently only one could perform checkouts. But because he was busy selling to other customers we ended up waiting another 20 minutes.
