We'll start with the pros: the hotel is centrally located right on the Market street trolley line turnaround, and very close to Union Square. Plenty of charging locations abound in the hotel, filtered ice and water stations on each floor, the staff was nice enough and tried their best though they seemed overwhelmed. The housekeeping was very nice and on time and astute to the needs of guests. The cons. Where to begin: small sizes are everywhere, from the hallways and corridors, to the elevators if you have to squeeze into, to the rooms themselves which feel very cramped. The Wi-Fi was honestly a joke in terms of speed and connectivity. The automated delivery system is a joke. I guarantee you'll never if rarely use it, but it is a cute gimmick they proudly have on display for marketing purposes. There are no amenities to speak of and the fitness center was so small it seemed like an afterthought with only a few machines. The valet is very slow with poor communication; the average wait time was 35 minutes for our car. Even the allegedly spacious suites are cramped. This hotel has steep competition from the Parc 55 hotel by Hilton right across the street. read more

Stay away from here! What 4 stars! This is worse than a motel! First of all, AC doesn't work!! And second hair is all over the bed and there are wet towels in the bathroom! Room was disgusting and supposedly " ready for us" When we first got there, doors were closed, and when you rang the bell, nobody answers. One of the hotel guests open the door for us and wait another 10 minutes in order for front desk to show up. Lobby was hot when we got there I'm unsure why. Once we were checked in, we went to our room and saw how disgusting it was. I called the front desk and they asked me that I had to go down so they could find us another room. As we got downstairs, he was on the phone and another client was complaining about how hot their room was. So we asked about the AC and the front desk said some rooms, AC is not working. So we asked if the room that we're getting has or is going to have an AC and he couldn't tell us. My husband decided that we would cancel our reservation and that was around 11:30 PM The person who helped us cancelled our reservation, but it was booked through our credit card. He promised us it would be back on our credit card 3-5 days and that was not true. I had to call Bryan 2 weeks later to ask about our refund and he was able to help us Almost 2 weeks later, I called my credit card and the credit was still not there, then I called the hotel and spoke to the manager and explained the situation to him. I found it frustrating to leave the hotel at that time, find another one, luckily found the one near by Beacon which I would recommend and book there over this place. And telling us it would be returned but had to call and email, until it was resolved Bryan the manager was really professional and took care of calling the credit card as it was an issue on their end. Axiom Hotel is a modern boutique hotel. A few steps from the Powell Station, it is very accessible through public transportation especially if coming from the airport. Check in was a breeze. A water refill station is available on every floor. The room is nice and clean. It has a desk and chair where one could work. Though they do not offer complimentary breakfast, there's a shop at the lobby that serves breakfast. My experience here was very pleasant. Their room rates are higher than the average though. Staff were nice and friendly. Overall, would give it a 4/5 read more

I believe all hotels should publish the ingredients of their toiletries online. This would help guests with allergies determine if the products are safe to use and whether they need to bring their own. It could also influence their decision on how much to pack and whether they'll need to check luggage at the airport. Regarding the toiletries at this hotel, the body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are wall-mounted and do not have ingredient lists on the back. After researching the brand and product names online, I found that none of the three contain Methylisothiazolinone. It would have been even better if I had found this out before my trip. The hotel is nicely furnished, with all amenities in good working order. There are some reasonable signs of wear and tear, but nothing off-putting. I do wish the shower head could be adjusted for different spray settings or even be handheld--this would greatly enhance the shower experience in the spacious and decent bathroom. The robot room service seems promising, though I didn't try it myself. I imagine it would be very convenient--and especially introvert-friendly--to order food and drinks from breakfast to late dinner without ever needing to interact with staff. I also liked the sleek water and ice dispensers in the hallway, as well as the hooded bathrobes provided in each room. However, I couldn't find the sashes, and I'm not sure why they were missing. read more

Stayed here over night with my husband. It was a nice hotel in the heart of SF. It wasn't anything special however it was nice enough to enjoy the stay for the night. The only downside was parking. We had no idea that parking was no longer offered and after speaking with the front desk, they said it was removed a few months ago. I wish that was mentioned somewhere on the website when booking. There was parking just a block away and it was $45 for the night. I guess we'd much rather pay the $45 than your typical $70-$90 hotel parking fee, however like I said, I wish it was stated. read more

The Axiom Hotel is an abomination. I would never recommend that anyone spend a penny here. Let me start here, the $41 fee per night that is for luxury tax you were never made aware of until after you booked the hotel is ridiculous. Now let me you about the mess that it was staying at this hotel. I tried to check in Friday early before outside lands, hotel room wasn't available, fine. I come back after there was NO receptionist at the desk when I tried to check in. The hotel says it is open 24 hours but I called multiple times, no answer. Furthermore, another guest had the exact same issue where she was trying to also check in at night and to no avail. I waited outside for over an hour before I finally found someone to check me in. However, that's not where my nightmare stay at Axiom ended. I finally get into the hotel room & it is the smallest room I quite literally have ever been in. The AC does not work at all, it was 80 degrees inside of the room. And the icing on the cake was the fact there was red stains on the bed and hair everywhere. A nightmare of a hotel & I would never recommend that a single person stay here. Save your money and go elsewhere. This place sucks. read more

We had a good stay at the Axiom Hotel in San Francisco. It wasn't perfect, but it had its perks, fulfilled all of our needs for this trip, and it's in a terrific location. I recommend this hotel and would stay here again. We were very satisfied. My wife was in town for a conference at the nearby Moscone Center and got a group rate of $345 per night plus taxes for a "Mono Queen" room. Those taxes were Transient Occupancy Tax (14.00%), Tourist Improvement District Tax (1.00%), Moscone Expansion District Tax (1.25%), and Visit California Assessment Tax (0.20%). The $345 nightly rate was slightly better than similarly-priced nearby hotels such as the Marriott Marquis, Hyatt Regency, W, and Canopy by Hilton. It was a good compromise between convenience and price. The Axiom Hotel is a boutique hotel that opened in February 2016, replacing the Powell Hotel. It's part of Host Hotels & Resorts. The building is old, built in 1908. The hotel has an eye-appealing, classic-modern design which still looks great today. It's six stories with 152 rooms. We stayed in Room 502. There are two low-key, understated entrances: (1) Cyril Magnin Street which is accessible by car and (2) Powell Street which is accessible by foot only. Valet is available at the Cyril Magnin entrance. A cable car turntable is right next to the Powell Street entrance. According to the hotel manager, this hotel was ranked the #4 top hotel in San Francisco in Conde Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards 2022. I looked up the same awards for 2023 and unfortunately, Axiom did not make the list (top 12). I'll break this review into pros and cons. Pros: 1. Prime location. The hotel is located on the border of Union Square and SoMa (South of Market) at the corner of Powell and Market Streets. This is a central downtown San Francisco location that's within a short walking distance to a lot of stuff. It's also very accessible by car, cable car, train, and bus. It's adjacent to the Powell Street BART and SF Muni stations. To get here, I took BART from the SFO airport to Powell Station. The ride was only $10.00 and took 30 minutes. Solid. 2. Robot room service. This hotel has a robot that will deliver food and drink to your room from the cafe downstairs and food delivery services like Uber Eats. It worked well for us, for the most part. We used it four times during our stay. You can hear the robot coming down the hallway because of its beeps and bloops, like R2-D2. It knows how to use the elevators and get out of people's way. Sometimes, we knew the robot was coming because we heard people giggling. Everyone seemed to get a kick out of it. One time, the robot lid wouldn't open so I couldn't get my delivery. I called the front desk and they fixed it. After delivery, the robot will ask how your experience is. If you give it five stars, it does a little happy dance. We were able to ask for an even later check-out time of 1pm. 5. Good service. Shout-out to Gem. 6. Nice lounge with decent Wi-Fi. The lounge is located on the mezzanine level (one level above street level). It's spacious with multiple seating areas, lots of big screen TVs, and places for you to plug in your devices. The guest Wi-Fi speed in the lounge (and our room, for that matter) was usable. 7. Aesthetically-pleasing design. From the library that doubles as reception to our individual room, the hotel has an artistic, contemporary interior design with nods to the history of SF. I liked the sleek design of our bedroom and bathroom. 8. High-quality water and ice. They had Follett ice and Brita water machines on every room floor. On our floor (5), the machines were close to our room and fit our large water bottles nicely. The ice was also the good "Chewblet" ice, kind of like pellet ice, with excellent, soft texture. Cons: 1. Sticky chair. The desk chair in our room had a sticky substance on it. I ended up putting a towel over the chair so we wouldn't have to touch the sticky stuff. 2. Dirty window. We had a good view of the cable car line and turntable. Unfortunately, the window was very dirty from the outside. 3. Small room. Our Mono Queen room was quite cozy and snug. It was certainly smaller than the average American hotel room. It reminded me of a Tokyo hotel room. Ultimately, my wife and I had enough space. We're just used to having more. 4. The TV stopped working. Our TV stopped working less than 24 hours into our stay. It wasn't a big deal since we weren't focused on it, but I typically like to have it on in the background. The hotel knew it was an issue, but it never got fixed for the rest of our stay. 5. Outside noise. This didn't bother us, but should be noted. This is a busy area. Music and people speaking on megaphones outside could be heard from inside our room. read more

A good spot, a busy hub near metro station and the trolley. It's walking distance to Chinatown and outdoor shopping brands. Inside the hotel, there's cafe on the lobby and microwave on the 2nd as well as a small gym on the bottom floor. Our room was clean but the restroom door are sliding doors so beware as you can hear from the bed. The shower pressure was low. And at night you can hear someone yelling from outside - a bit spooky. During the day though it's nice to be out and hearing music playing. read more

We stayed here for three nights and had a fantastic experience! When we checked in, we learned that our reserved room was no longer available, but the staff immediately upgraded us (a party of 4) to two adjoining rooms at no extra cost. The 2 front desk associates were professional, welcoming, and set the tone for a great stay. The rooms were spotless, modern, and thoughtfully appointed. Each morning we had breakfast at the on-site café, and while the menu was small, the food quality far exceeded our expectations: fresh, flavorful, and delicious every time. We also appreciated the extra sense of security, as key card access was required to enter the building. Overall, this hotel delivered comfort, quality, and service well above what we expected. Front desk personnel were friendly, but there were some very unpleasant issues with our stay. Our room was not ready when we arrived at 6:00 pm. We were given a different room. Apparently this room was not in the computer system and another person had our room key and walked into our room the next morning. We parked our car with the hotel valet. We waited over 1 hour for our car. When we were notified that our car had finally arrived, the valet gave us the wrong set of keys and car. We then waited another 15 minutes for our car. The man at the front desk assured us that some of the hotel fees and valet fees would be taken off our bill. We shall see if he keeps his word. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. We were not the only frustrated guests waiting for our car. read more

The good: it's a fun boutique hotel right downtown. I'm from SF, so, my review will be a little unique. Downtown pre-covid was a great, bustling place with tons of stores and restaurants, and now it's a ghost town overrun with crazy people. LOL. I don't mind that part because SF has always been filled with eccentrics and crazies. We are who we are. But the ghost town situation was off-putting. I just can't believe that covid wiped everything out. Also, it's like any major city. You'll be fine. Just don't talk to the crazy people on the street and they really don't care about you/see you, so don't freak out if you come back to the hotel late and THERE THEY ARE. The room was nice. Super clean. THERE ARE NO BEDBUGS. Contrary to what others may say. Not true. AND their mattresses have bedbug covers on them, as all hotels SHOULD have. The room was a good size. Has a big ol' TV, alarm clock, bathroom with shampoo/soap/conditioner, all liquid. Hair dryer. Ample towels. A small closet to hang things if you are staying a while. Small fridge, a safe and an espresso machine with pods/cups and all that you need for it. They have a gym, but I worked out in my room. The walls/floor are all modern. As are the furnishings. There are A/C units in the rooms which is great for two reasons 1) to keep you nice and cool at all times 2) it's a little loud which is good if you have tinnitus (lol) and also, to drown out the crazies below on the street. They do have inner rooms so you don't have to hear them, but I wanted a street view. And yes, every night there were crazies doing crazy on the street. Not constantly, but you will occasionally hear someone screaming like they're being destroyed. They are not being destroyed. They are crazy and they come out at night to be crazy. It passes. You'll be fine. And the a/c drowns them out. Other than street noise, the hotel was really quiet. I never heard a peep from anyone. The staff is great. Super attentive. Tajae, who checked me in, deserves a raise. She is awesome at her job. Super knowledgeable, professional and accommodating. She made my stay much better. I feel like their cafe is staffed to the wee hours of then morning. Every time I got back to the hotel, someone was there. There are tables on the main floor you can hang out at if your flight is not till later and you need to check out at. And I believe they will even do you a solid and hang on to your bags so you can bop around for your remaining time in the city. Location: great location. Access to all the busses and THE BART STOP IS POWELL STREET. It's literally steps away from the hotel door. You can catch any bus to any part of the city. You can walk to china town, the the ferry building, GO TO ZUNI RESTAURANT. It's an institution in SF. Big bucks to eat there, but worth every penny and you can either walk there (it's a hike, and you will have to walk through clouds of crazies, so be warned as they do whatever they want to do on the street and you may have to watch some unsavory business, lol), OR take a very quick bus. They literally all go right past it down Market Street. SF has changed a lot. But haven't we all? I came for a business trip to launch a new streetwear brand and got positive feedback. So, it was worth the trip and now Axiom will be part of that memory for me. I would recommend this hotel, and will likely stay here again when I visit home and don't want to sleep on a friend's couch. Cheers! read more

What a fantastic stay. After deciding that I'd spend a solo 2-days in San Francisco after an eventful work trip, I came across Axiom in my hotel search and I'm so glad that I did. I saw an awesome deal on a travel app for a 1 night stay in a Nano Queen and quickly snagged it up. I looked over the reviews and images so many times, I felt like I could draw the place from memory. So it was so great when I arrived and saw that there was no catfishing involved! Located in Union Square, Axiom is close to all the rush of the city. There are numerous restaurants, shops (like Sephora right next door), cable car stops, and other hotels just steps away. So it's not the quietest neighborhood during the busy days, but you're not too far from the fun. Depending on what room you're in, you may hear the cable car bells being rung throughout the day. There are two entry points: one right next to the cable car stops and the other on the opposite backstreet that requires a key card or valet to open the door. Check-in was such a breeze! The lobby was so adorable and just as pictured on their website. There were a few tables with seating scattered about the small lobby, it felt like a cute cafe. All I could smell was pastries - yum! The hotel bar/cafe was small but they had a lot going on back there. My room was the perfect size for me solo traveling for just a night. Nano is a great way to describe the size, but it was still incredibly comfortable! It was incredibly clean when I arrived and the accommodations were really better than I even expected. I was happy to see that they had two plush robes tucked away in the closet. After a long day of walking around the city, I loved putting one on and getting comfy in bed! The details really mattered here. It was so cute to come into the room to see my name on the screen, always a nice touch, and being able to mirror my iPad really allowed me to binge in peace. I'm so bummed that I didn't order room service as planned! I ended up snacking in bed and not being as hungry in the morning as I expected. I would have loved to experience the food and robot room service. I think that my only issue experienced was service at the bar/cafe. When I came back to the hotel after my adventures for the day, I realized that it was HH for another 30 min and wanted to take advantage. When I approached the counter, the man behind the register picked up his cellphone and started dialing numbers and engaging in a phone call. He didn't say hello, didn't even look up to acknowledge me standing there. It blew my mind honestly. Not a glance. After standing there for about 3-4 minutes with no assistance, I (struggling, because I lost my voice) got the attention of the young lady who was also behind the counter and had not asked if I needed help, but smiled at least. I ordered a HH drink with her and she gave me a massive cup of wine - so appreciated. That experience was not good at all but the wine made it better, lol. This didn't put a damper on the overall amazing experience at Axiom though. The best part of the experience beyond the comfy room and robe? The record player rentals! I'm a vinyl lover myself and play mine when I'm cooking or relaxing around the house, so it was so cool to enjoy them in my room! The selection was small, but I snagged Donny & Marie and Billy Joel. All I had to do was give my room number and they were mine for the night. It was lovely to start my day with some Billy Joel! The amazing team even held onto my luggage for me after I checked out and roamed the city. I returned to a smiling face and all of my bags neatly tucked away before heading off to my flight. They don't honor their reservations & when you try and call their manager; Brian, he refuses to return any phone calls, even after several attempts. Brian just doesn't care and his attitude is duly noted! Corporate should demote him as he does a complete disservice to the Axiom brand. Amazing that this hotel and staff under Brian never puts their patrons first and seems to go out of their way to make reservations & return phone calls as difficult as possible. I truly feel like I got away with something by staying at this hotel! We booked it for the Portola Festival and it was such a good home base. 1 -- LOCATION Literally right at the Powell BART stop. We got door to door from our place in Oakland in zero time, zero drama. 2 -- QUALITY So nice inside once you get through the very discrete entrance. They let us check in early FOR FREE, the rarest of the rare, and we were off to the 6th floor. Free refillable water on every floor is a nice touch. The room? So spacious. The bed? So comfortable. The bathroom? So nice. I was so pleasantly surprised. 3 -- QUIET Maybe I'm biased from living in downtown Oakland (chaotique at best) but it was so silent in this hotel. Insane. How. Overall fabulous experience for a totally reasonable price. This is gonna be the spot anytime we're staycationing in SF. read more

DONT USE THE VALET. For $65 a night, get your car scratched up. Upon picking up my car from the front, my car's rim was literally touching the cement. They had a disheveled looking dude with bed head operating their valet that day. 2/10/24 at 10am I went to the front desk and spoke with Rich. He gave me a sticky note to document the incident which seem a peculiar way to document something like that. Left my contact info. I decided that I didn't trust Rich (he seemed new/easily flustered) so I called in later that day to further confirm that it was on record. Rich failed to do so. Axiom had nothing on file. I spoke with Hayden at 2/22 (same day) and he officially recorded it. I was put in touch with the valet company and based on the pictures taken, they said they were not at fault. The picture with the wheel touching the curb seems pretty damning. I'm going to have to escalate this with my insurance and see if there are any security footage outside to escalate. But Axiom works with some C grade valet service. There are better hotels. read more

The noise... I could not sleep at all here. The walls are THIN. Thin to the point that the bed rattles from over active guests on the other side of the wall. Family conversations, video game sound effects, & iPhone alarms all come through crystal clear. The windows are double-pane but either the installation is wrong or the walls aren't dense enough for it to matter. The property is in the middle of the city so exteriors noise levels will vary with current events & continue until the early morning (lots of electric guitar during my stay...). Then the garbage trucks come alive at 3AM The staff is nice, the linens are perfect, & the bathroom is beautiful, but ultimately un-sleepable. I do not recommend this location. THE HOTEL ITSELF WAS GREAT! Super comfy! A little nice cafe in the check in area with some nice drinks including booze! The prices were a little steep but the vanilla latte was nice! The hotel was super clean and had water stations which were nice to refill our bottles! Tv had cable included! The location was a little scary but definitely an experience! Middle of shopping and walking distance to some cool places! Now the fees were absolutely ridiculous! They charge 65 PLUS TAX SO 79 a night for parking!!! Just crazy to me! Plus an additional tax for the resort plus a sf tax? So charge an additional 300$ for your stay!!! JUST CRAZY TO ME! the people were great and we will definitely be back to stay! This was a very unique boutique hotel. It is in the Tenderloin area of San Francisco, but it felt safe. Our room was not facing the street, so it was a nice and quiet night for a good nights sleep, even on a Saturday night. Short walking distance to Union Square. Tianna checked us in and she was so sweet and helpful. Loved they had record players you could bring to your room with a variety of old vinyl records. Room was small but decorated well and was comfy! Love the Axiom and have stayed there many, many times. The technology is up to date and staff is amazing. I did, however, have a less than pleasant experience which I did not expect. Firstly, I have loved that I could use valet to take care of my car and they even had a service in which they would alert me via text when they were retrieving my car and it was outside. When I asked about this I was looked at like I was crazy and they did not provide this. I explained that I had used valet previously in which they said they used to, but no longer did. All good, drove my car to near by parking garage that was walking distance. Then I get into my hotel room and saw stains on the sheets. Looked like coffee, not a big deal. Sleeping in my room and get woken up to a loud banging at 9 am. I understand needing to clean the rooms but checkout is 11 am and I shouldn't be getting pushed out 2 hours earlier than the time I paid for. It felt different than previous times I've stayed, I'm not exactly sure why. I would stay here again but I'm definitely a bit more skeptical. read more

First the positives: hip hotel, cute little bar area in lobby, comfortable beds, bathrooms clean and shower decent. The negatives: room had an old almost urine smell to it, room was very small, view out of our window was a window across and top of a roof, loud neighbor bumping music at 1am while running up and down halls laughing and what sounded like falling in room. I called front desk, the noise did not stop. I finally fell back to sleep around 2am. The parking was Valet only for $65! Very outrageous to me. Used to really love this place but they need to stop treating money like dust in the wind. The first time I went here it was great. Second time it was bit iffy, things costing more than we thought they should, lack of cafe actually being open even though it was one of the reason we was there. However covid was in full swing, I didnt mind at all. Well today I realized we got our dates mixed up on a reservation. literally only 30 min after making it. Call to ask for a one day change. literally coming in a day later and staying a day late, same time frame, just a day off. With at least 2 weeks till the reservation it should be a easy thing to do. maybe throw a charge on top for the mistake and time waste. No, their answer. "our policy is no cancelations", and if I want I can pay a full extra night. I stayed at Axiom for a work trip. I'm not super familiar with the San Francisco area, but it seemed to be in a great location and pretty central and within walking distance to the office, restaurants, and shops, which is always a great feature. I walked into check-in and it was easy breezy. Gave them a credit card and my ID, and within five minutes I was on my way upstairs to my room. The lobby is pretty tiny, but is tastefully done, with a lot of modern updates and artwork. I walked into my room and it was a good size and seemed cozy. I almost felt like I was back in college (in a good way) when I used to have a single, but this time I had my very own bathroom. I won't lie, panic did ensue when I walked in the room and didn't see a bathroom. Was this really back to my old college days of having to share a hall bathroom? I looked everywhere, except the sliding mirrored door...to the bathroom. After that minor setback (me being oblivious), I got settled in and the bed was pretty comfortable. I did use the gym a few times and while it wasn't anything fancy, it worked just fine (they had a few ellipticals, treadmills, free weights, a bike, some yoga mats). I liked the neon sign hanging in the gym that said "work it". All in all this was a nice hotel. Pros: -Modern touches in an older building -Comfortable beds -Central location Cons: -Me not being able to figure out that behind door number one, there was a bathroom. This hotel is not the holiday inn or the Hyatt... it's so much better. The rooms are small but super clean, it's in a great location and they literally have r2d2 delivering your room service. If you have any issues though, make sure you talk to Tianna because she's apparently the only one who cares enough to make stuff happen. My rooms air didn't work so it felt like hell was having a heat stroke. When I asked the front desk if they could switch me or upgrade me and I would pay the difference-- I was met with indifference. Finally shift change happened and Tianna took care of EVERYTHING. I didn't even have to go down to get my new keys cuz she got her robot buddy to bring it to me while I was packing up hells fury. Moral of the story is-- great place to stay, clean, good coffee--- but if you want shit done, talk to Tianna. read more

Found Axiom Hotel through a Booking.com recommendation & really enjoyed my visit. It's a non-descript building that's easy to miss if you blink; but once inside, it's has a really nice remodel. The colors & decor are masculine and pleasant. The entire building is clean -- great attention to detail, Housekeepers!! The valet option ('just drive around the block until the space is available') is neither safe nor practical. Skip it & use a nearby garage. Staff was helpful (except the valet option) and the overall experience was really nice. My room was small, but held everything I needed -- comfy bed, desk with comfortable chair, full length mirror, & LARGE shower. Towels and toiletries were plentiful. The price was good, but the fees from SF are extraordinary (almost $75) and not the fault of the hotel. The location is great & it's easy to walk around or grab a cable car if one wants to sightsee. This hotel is a good choice for travelers! No pics from me as the ones on Yelp are accurate. read more

One night in Sf and Axiom was where I wanted to be. After reading more reviews on hotels than I ever thought imaginable, or was pretty clear that Axiom was the best of the lot. I am glad that I decided to book here using HotelTonight. I arrived at the hotel earlier than expected and the staff were amazing. They held our bags for us so we could go eat while we wait. Our room was ready before our 3pm check in time, so we even got to our room earlier than expected. The room. Two lovely, comfortable queen beds made our nights rest better than expected. Although small, the room has a certain charm to it. A desk, state of the art television, and cool dresser fill the room. The bathroom may have been my favorite. It was the perfect way to get refreshed after a long day of hitting the city. I'll be booking here every time I'm in the city! read more

This is a super convenient hotel right in downtown San Francisco and just a few steps from Powell street trolley station. The hotel itself is a bit small, but had a touch of modern and artsy, and tech advanced feel to it. At first, I worried about the hotel noise at night with it being in the middle of city, but luckily, I wasn't awake by any noise at night at all (maybe more from neighboring rooms who checked in or came back late). Overall, a convenient hotel for sure. I wouldn't mind staying here again. I think the rate is +- $200/night...which.but given it's SF, I can see it being somewhat reasonable. read more

I saved some money by booking with a third-party website only to find out that this hotel will charge you the difference at the front desk while checking in. I told the woman checking in that I've never heard of a hotel doing this and she instantly regurgitated a rehearsed line that I'm sure she constantly has to tell guests. Can we give 6 stars? So close to the BART was a plus! Extremely kind and competent staff. Let me check in early, AM and check out an hour later!! No extra charge. Room was nice and clean. Very quiet. Comfortable bed. Food was great at the cafe. Employees there were friendly and food was good. The valet guys were super nice and would open the door for me as I was struggling with my room key. They were always one step ahead especially with the increase in the unhoused population. The only negative was I couldn't get the robot to bring my coffee up. QR code didn't work for me. read more

This place was perfect for my three-night stay! It's only small, but nicely tucked into the heart of the city. The lobby is really cute and very well kept. It has an upscale library feel to it. Connected to that is an open seating area that leads to the cafe/bar (name). Plenty of good options there, including all meals throughout the day, a full barista counter and all of the adult bevs you'd want. My room was simple but great. A large king size bet, very fluffy and comfortable! The usual hotel room items: flat screen, large closet, hair dryer (always a must for me), and coffee machine. Extra *stars* for the lovely bathroom as well. I also utilized the gym each morning, which is on the lower underground level. It was pretty small but had the weights and machines most hotels do, so it was all I needed. I'd certainly stay here again! read more

Axiom Hotel is probably one of the best hotels I've stayed at when visiting San Francisco. I absolutely loved the boutique feel, and smiled right away seeing a Pride flag at its entrance (maybe common for SF, but not for where I'm from). It was both modern yet homey, and although I didn't try the breakfast options, it was really cool to have them available along with coffee. Check in was super simple and quick and my room was spotless. It's in the middle of everything so most things are a quick walk away, and I had no issues with noise whatsoever. A reluctant 2 stars. The good stuff: Tasteful remodel with small but neat lobby with a counter cafe and a cool mezzanine with games and tvs. A nicely decorated and clean room with a pleasant bathroom with plenty of hot water (the shower was a +). Our party had 2 rooms for the weekend and the other room had pretty much the same experience. The worst: NOISY!! One of the noisiest hotels I've visited - and that includes a lot of funky hotels I've stayed with in several cities and countries! I was laying in bed watching tv (when it worked) with 2 pillow against the headboard behind me (wall mounted padded panel) and my head shook every time a door anywhere around closed x even on the next floor and you could definitely hear it! Voices came through clearly as well. So much for an afternoon nap.... The TV system went down so I missed the Wimbledon finals I was hoping to catch and it was down for much of the day. Screen share function didn't work either. When we arrived it was unclear where to go but we spotted a valet sign between parked cars - no valet in sight and no space to pull up to the curb. We double parked in a traffic lane and one of our party went inside and a valet turned up a few minutes later. Check in was fine but it wasn't busy - there is a limited (but nice!) check in area. Staff overall were pleasant and professional. While lobby and rooms were tastefully decorated, the hall had a weird industrial dystopian thing going on that was kind of depressing but it kind of went with the uneven and mushy-in-spots subfloor. Oh - and the so called ice machine is useless - more of a home countertop ice machine. Location is in the midst of a tourist / shopping district which is good or bad depending on what you're after. A lot of retail shops were closed with "For Lease" signs. Yes - there are street people around as there have been in SF for years. It's sad and off-putting but didn't seem like much more than what I've seen over the last decade. We had no uncomfortable encounters with anyone on the street though we weren't out past about 11:30. A few good things here but bring earplugs! read more

Great boutique hotel in central San Fran! I've stayed here twice now for a total of ten days and the experience has always been above and beyond. While the hotel is a little pricy, it's location can't be beat. Within steps you have some of the best shopping in Downtown San Fran, the Westfield Centre Mall, BART, and a pickup spot for the trolley to explore the rest of the city. The rooms are incredibly modern with large open floor plans and King beds that will make you a hermit. Downstairs is a large lobby with comfortable seating, a gym, full size bar, and a full service restaurant. The best part? There's a robot named Astro that will deliver food and cocktail to your hotel room! read more

I can totally get down with the Axiom Hotel! This boutique hotel is tucked away amidst the hustle and bustle of the city, yet you're literally within steps of all the action. (No joke - the street car picks up directly in front of the hotel!) From the cozy vibes to the high tech amenities, I felt as though everything I needed was accessible and with ease. Check-in was smooth and although there are only two elevators, I never experienced a long wait time. My room was small-ish, but not at all claustrophobic. My bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean and modern, and my time inside of my room was peaceful and noise free. I also loved the cafe downstairs which made it so easy to grab coffee and a bite to eat before heading out each morning (and maybe a $4 glass prosseco in evening!) read more

I'm not sure why you need robots when you have such a great staff. Maybe it is the little tasks that their happy resident robot completes that allows the rest of their staff to do their jobs with a smile. I was greeted by the biggest smiles and shared some laughter with the staff at check-in. It was a warm welcome and a great way to start by visit to the city. My room wasn't ready until check-in time, but the staff helped me out by holding my bags and texting me when my room was ready so I could go enjoy the city. The location of this hotel was absolutely perfect! We were able to walk almost anywhere we wanted to go with ease. We were also convenient to the trolley and were easily accessible by Lyft/Uber when we didn't feel like walking. My room had a window that didn't really open up to anything, but served its purpose of letting in some natural light during the day. The bed was comfortable and I was able to fall asleep quickly each night after full days training and sightseeing. I had plenty of space for my luggage and room in the closet to help me feel right at home during my stay. The bathroom was very large with lots of counter space that allowed me to spread out. The hair dryer in the room also worked great. I loved the toiletries that they provided, but I do wish they had a small shelf in the shower for a few of my own soaps. I also found the water pressure to be weak. These were really just minor inconveniences. I found myself wondering how much the robe costs when I saw the note about the option to purchase to be available. They were "hoodie" style robes, so cozy and soft. One of my favorite things about this hotel was the extra technology touches. It was easy to connect to the Wifi and I had great signal in my room throughout my stay. I loved how easy it was to mirror my devices on my TV too! Of course you can't hype the technology without talking about the charming little Astro. We did order a little something on our last night at the Axiom just so we could be visited by Astro. The staff seemed very humored to accommodate our request. read more

We absolutely loved this hotel! Upon arrival the valet attendant was very kind and helpful guiding us to where we could leave our vehicle while we checked in and offered assistance with our luggage and politely held the doors open for us as we exited our vehicle and entered the property. The hotel is beautifully decorated, the ambiance and general design of the entrance, lobby and lounge area was welcoming and comfortable while also unique! Every team member we came in contact with was very polite and helpful. We checked in seamlessly and efficiently. Our room was clean, spacious and all around comfortable. The beds were cozy, with quality linen and plush pillows. The bathroom also clean and beautifully done. All of the decor and design aspects in the room were updated and very clean. The entire hotel was quiet, with a feeling of safety and security while also accommodating to its patrons as guests dined, worked, passed through or simply relaxed and socialized. There is a game area with a foosball table, multiple tv's and areas to gather and enjoy each other's company. They even had a robot that delivered amenities to your room upon request! So fun :) The lobby/ bar & restaurant was very convieneint. We enjoyed chatting with the baristas in the morning while they made delicious coffee for us to start our day. Food was simple but very flavorful, with an easy menu that includes many different types of food from quick and easy, something to snack on, to more full meal sized options. This hotel is wonderfully located within walking distance to shopping, restaurants and a short drive to other nearby attractions. Everything about our stay was absolutely perfect. I have to preface this review with the disclosure that I have never stayed in this hotel as an overnight guest. That being said - I am a huge fan of this hotel. I have booked my mom here for a short stay and I have recommended it to friends and family in the past. I have also worked with Axiom Hotel closely for work. Each interaction with The Axiom has been fantastic. The Axiom's convenient downtown location is a big plus. It's in walking distance to Union Square, The Ferry Building, and Market Street - making it a breeze to get around. You're in perfect position for easy access to cable cars, fun walks, ferries, MUNI, BART etc. I can't speak much to how noisy it is at night, since I haven't slept here - but you can always inquire about a room that is farther away from the street. Having been inside my mom's room when she stayed here - I was impressed with the simple modern design of it. My mom appreciated the soft sheets, the coffee machine, the spacious bathroom, the complimentary wi-fi, The Smart TV, and the working hair dryer. She slept great and it was easy for her to grab a bite in the morning - thanks to the The Turn Cafe in their lobby. They also have a small gym if you want to work out as well as classic video games and foosball on their Cloud level. They're even pet friendly. My favorite aspect of The Axiom is their staff. Whenever I have worked with them to book small groups - they have been an absolute dream to work with. Not only are they exceptionally professional- but they're just wonderful people who truly care and take a lot of pride in their hotel and their guests. If you're looking to stay in San Francisco down the road (in fact The Axiom is still open at the moment) - I wouldn't hesitate to suggest The Axiom for your stay. This is a really modern, high-tech hotel right in the heart of San Francisco. In fact, right outside the front door are the famous cable cars. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. A special call out to Caroline. She was especially helpful and explained the various amenities of this hotel. I should note that my room included 2 robes. There is a very funny robotic delivery service. If you need something, such as a razor, they will send it up in a robot. I will try this out soon. The robot cannot enter the room on its own; you have to let it in. We gave the robot a few test cases. First of all I sent a book that I borrowed from the lobby and headed go up to my room. Secondly, the nice staff person Caroline Sent a goodie bag for me. The robot did a very good job both times. There is one extra benefit: you do not need to give the robot a tip. There is a large plasma screen in your room. At first I thought it was touch screen but you actually use the remote to control it. That worked well. I tried the breakfast from the lobby Cafe. I ordered eggs and bacon and it was promptly delivered by a very cheerful and courteous employee. This young lady is such a great employee I actually saw her running back and forth to make sure she got orders to the customers promptly. A special call out to this wonderful employee named Francesca. What a great employee what great service! Yes breakfast is quite expensive but this is San Francisco. My breakfast was $17. I wish they would have had actual print newspapers. I really miss reading an actual newspaper. But they do offer an online service that provides many newspapers as well as magazines. They have happy hour from 3 to 7 p.m. and my beer was only $4. What a deal! The rooms are pretty small, as others have noted. There are no storage drawers of any sort, but lots of hangers in the armoire. One thing to be careful about, and perhaps a suggestion: The carpeted stairways are quite dark. The Axiom has: 1. Nice people running the place. Almost too nice. 2. A good bed. 3. Decent rates. 4. A good location. 5. A great shower, with smart faucet placement (this is the first time I've seen the faucet placed opposite the showerhead, meaning I can turn the shower on without getting wet. Brilliant). The Axiom needs: 1. A better kettlebell selection in the gym (I'm not as douchey as this makes me sound, I swear. The fact that they have kettlebells is cool, especially since it's the first hotel gym I've ever used...I just noticed that they are all too small for my massive size and strength). 2. Faster filtered water outside the rooms. I'm a thirsty man (but I still appreciate its existence). I look forward to staying here again when traveling is once again part of my life. read more
