I used to come to Axum once a week for about two years when I lived in Florida both by myself to study/work, as well as meet up with friends and relax. The relaxed vibe both inside and outside is the perfect place find someone comfort and get one of their several coffee and tea options or get a bagel or pastry. Cute ambience, but incredibly rude staff. Recently moved to the area and tried this place out during the Downtown Winter Garden Farmer's Market on Saturday. On the positives, it has a really nice feel to it and a comfortable outdoor area to sit that is shaded by the alleyway and seems to be pet-friendly. Unfortunately, the staff (or at least a few members of the staff) were incredibly rude to my wife. She ordered a decaf americano (she can't have caffeine for health reasons). While waiting at the pick up area for our drinks, the barista making our order started talking to the other barista with some pretty mean comments. Her exact words were, "Oh my God, why would someone even order decaf? Like, that is so sad and such a stupid waste of money. What a sad order." I don't know if they didn't think she could hear them or they just didn't care, but nothing makes you want to come back to a place like staff talking negatively about you right in front of you. If Axum is reading this, I'd ask that you kindly educate your staff that there are a lot of reasons that people aren't able to drink caffeine, one of which is NOT because "it's a sad and stupid waste of money." Sadly, this won't become our weekly morning coffee spot. And for those reading this, if you like decaf coffee or friendly staff, I'd recommend trying somewhere else. read more

Great local coffee shop. This trip I was more in the mood for something chai and boy did they deliver. I enjoyed one of their seasonal drinks the apple butter chai (iced). It was a match made in heaven with all the warm spices of both the chai and butter. I would love to see this on the menu everyday since it is both light and refreshing chai option. Axum coffee is by far my favorite coffee spot in the Central Florida area. It's location in the beautiful downtown Winter Garden only adds to the fun of this place. Their breakfast items are delicious. My personal favorite is the everything bagel panini. Their coffee is outstanding. If you're an espresso lover you need to try their cappuccino. If you're a latte lover you have to try the Creme Brulee. On top of all of that the environment of this spot is always inviting. Wifi, nice seating and a great staff always lead to a good time at Axum. read more

Axum Coffee is a quaint coffee shop, perfectly situated in the winter garden area. The service was quick and the baristas were friendly. While some coffee shops have closed down their sit down areas in lue of COVID, Axum Coffee is operating at 50% capacity. I find that it's always nice to enjoy coffee at the coffee shop itself, so this was a plus. I ordered a large black drip coffee. I found that the large size was a solid value for its price. The drip coffee here is solid . Not the most complex flavor profile by any means, but a balanced well-roasted brew is not easy to achieve by any means. Generally speaking when I'm looking for a coffee spot I'm looking for two things. 1. Will I like the coffee? 2. Can I sit down and have a conversation with someone? Axum Coffee delivers on both, which is why I highly recommend it to anyone looking for their caffeine fix. read more

I was looking to relax with a good cup of coffee following a long drive down from Atlanta. I sat outside with my wife and enjoyed a great cappuccino outside the restaurant with my wife and my doggie. My wife had a cappuccino as well. We both agree their coffee is top notch. This is a great place to come if you are a coffee lover. In addition to coffee, they also serve pastries. I was disappointed to see that the shop in the food hall was closed but after walking around downtown we found the actual store location and went in! Super cute decorations but kinda crowded. The cashier was so so sweet and so helpful. I ended up getting one of their seasonal drinks that had white chocolate and fig jam and wow, it was honestly one of the best coffees I've had. My boyfriend got a gingerbread latte which was good but I'm not a big fan of gingerbread. Their fig shaken espresso is a MUST try. Delicious! read more

Almost every day on vacation, I've tried a new local coffee shop. Like the others, Axum is rock solid. I wanted the nitro cold brew, but they were out. So I settled for the cold brew with cold foam. It was very good; the coffee was mild yet flavorful. Also, my wife said her iced chai tea latte was the best she'd ever had. So, two for two on beverages. Nice work, Axum! read more

They offer a free refill but if you're not just going to be walking to adjacent shops it's a hollow option. The day I was there various cookies were the only items to enjoy with your coffee. No biscotti, pastry or scones. Majority of text here sounds negative but remember I gave it 4 out of 5. They don't have a fresh pastry case, just a counter with a selection of pre-wrapped bagels, muffins, and the like. They have a pretty good selection of unique signature lattes. I ordered the Cinnabee, which was supposed to have honey, cinnamon syrup, and espresso. It wasn't very sweet, which I enjoyed, and it had good cinnamon flavor, but I didn't find it to be anything special or amazing. The staff here is so friendly and worked really efficiently get all of the orders out. The guy who took my order was really easy to talk to and patient as I had a pretty large order. Everything that I ordered was pretty simple and basic, but I could tell that the coffee itself was really good, which is often underestimated in a world of white girl flavors and specialty beverages. They had just enough options to cater to everyone without overdoing it. Axum is always a routine stop when I visit my aunt in Winter Garden. They offer a variety of signature lattes which are definitely unique. I've tried the creme brûlée and hazelnut-ella. I know this will be an unpopular opinion but the few times we have tried the coffee or espresso here, we have not liked it. It's very weak in flavor and unfortunately I don't understand the hype, other than being a local business. I love to support local businesses, but unfortunately I won't be back again as the cold brew is almost like water, where even Dunkin' is stronger in flavor (more bold). I will say we drink black coffee, not the flavored drinks, so I cannot comment on the flavored drinks. I'm giving 2 stars as everyone working there is always nice, so I feel they deserve an extra star. It's just the coffee isn't great. read more

4* for this Winter Garden staple. I've had two of their drinks--the toffee latte and the creme brulee. I *love* the toffee one, and get it almost every time. Last time I was in I tried te creme brulee latte, and was surprised to find that it somehow was overly sweet /and/ overly bitter. How does that even happen?? So I won't be getting that again. The food that I've tried has been really good. My favorite is their everything "panini". It's ham, turkey, bacon, cheese, and an interesting BBQ sauce pressed on an everything bagel. I'll get this one again and again--it's so good. The inside is really cozy with a variety of seating, from small tables to high a high top bar overlooking the main street to a community table. Frequently they run out of space, which is a disappointment. My other big peeve with Axum is that their bathroom is outside of the store, up an elevator (or stairs), and down a hall. And there is no baby changing station. No bueno. read more
