I recommend this place regularly. Food is fantastic. No matter what we have ordered it comes out fresh and hot. We got the queso with chorizo as an appetizer and it was okay but I wish there was more chorizo than peppers in the queso. I got the Carne Asada with rice and beans and it was phenomenal. Everything I have had has been wonderful especially the tacos el pastor. The pricing is decent. You aren't breaking the bank going here and the portion size is right. Been here several times since my 1st review. Everytime we come we are welcomed like we are family. Every employee is so pleasant, never had bad service. We have eaten so many different dishes here. Favorites include the molcajete, birria tacos, mesquite fajitas, and the sopes. You can't go wrong with anything you order. Though the prices have gone up since the menu redo, the portions will leave you with plenty to eat for the next day...or more. I first came here in 2013 and I've been back at least once a year since. The food is good. Standard Mexican fare so it should meet your expectations. The soup and mussels can be very hot so beware if you can't handle the heat. Service is ok. We've had a few things messed up and take a lot longer than they should in the last few visits. They really need to work on that. This place can get very busy so be prepared for a wait on busy on Friday-sat. I've left multiple reviews for this place, but they've somehow disappeared. The restaurant has made many upgrades and expansions over the years so it's nice inside. Parking space is usually adequate. read more

5 stars for an amazing experience, delicious food and attentive service. I kept driving through this place and I noticed that it is always PACKED! So I knew I was missing out and wanted part of the action, so husband and I went for lunch and I'm happy we did. We went on a Thursday for lunch (roughly 3 PM) and it was not packed. There were a couple of patrons. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated, but I'm sure there is usually a wait during the dinner rush. Ok - the house chips was ok, nothing too excited. They were just tasty but nothing like "bam"! The salsa, however, was very delicious and you can tell the attention went there lol. The menu is very broad and loaded with offerings. They have like three specials for random times which are located towards the end of the menu lol. Luckily, our plates were in the early bird section (time between 3 ish and 5 ish). Wow! We decided to visit Ay! Jalisco after many a year hiatus. Previously, prob over 3-4 yrs ago I thought it was okay Mexican. Average. Our last visit was incredible. Food: Perfect. Skirt steak, enchilada, rice and beans, and we added a Chili Relleno. All delicious and full of Mexican flavor. Only slightly TexMex since we're not in Mexico. Chips & Salsa was nice and spicy too Service: Very attentive at just the right moments. She could have had just a little more personality but she did everything right with minimum wait. Ambiance: Typical style for this side of the border. It's nice to see the outside bar done up so nice. And the place was busy. Even at almost 9pm. Overall I have found a new place when I want a sit down Mexican meal to chat with friends. If I want street tacos I have a better place for those. 5 read more

Really disappointed with everything I had . Sadly right from the beginning the salsa tasted like ketchup and it was warm . (Ask for the green spicy salsa ) it's better than the red one they bring out upon sitting . The rice was so bland and stale . Same with beans guac . The chipotle fajitas mediocre. There was no chipotle flavor not even a hint of spice from real chipotle peppers . Service was okay . Ay! Jalisco has a massive menu. It's a few long pages jam packed with tons of variations. The six of us wanted to jump right in catching up with one another but the menu needed serious attention. We finally decided to start with a sampler platter of dips and jalapeño poppers. The queso was delicious and something that I would order again. Their guacamole was fresh and had big pieces of avocado in it. The salsa was good and the chips were on the stale side. Everyone loved the jalapeño popper. They were mild but the breading was good and they came with a tasty jelly that enhanced the jalapeño. I went with a shredded beef chimichanga. It was delicious and had a good combination of meat and cheese with guacamole and tomatoes on it. The meat was tender and seasoned nicely. It had a slow cooked homemade taste to it. I will definitely get this menu item again. The tacos were good but again the shells were leaning towards stale. I think that Covid probably plays a roll with the inventory not moving as quickly. We all ordered dessert and this is where the restaurant failed miserably. All of the flan has burnt bottoms, the fried cheesecake was bland and the fried ice cream was not really fried ice cream. It was regular ice cream placed in a fried cup with a sprinkle of corn flakes on it. The ice cream was super low quality and had ice chunks in it. I don't recommend eating dessert here. read more

I came here for dinner while in the area for business. I was in the mood for Mexican and this was the beat option according to the reviews. It is somewhat hard to get to as there is only one way into and out of the parking lot. Though it is worth the visit. The chips and salsa that come out are good. However, the salsa is just average. Not super spicy but no plain either. At the recommendation of my waitress, I went with the Tacos al Pastor. These were quite good and overall the plate food was the right amount of food. The tacos were just the right amount of seasoning that I did not need to add any additional spicy items. I also had dessert with my meal. I went the flan. It was decent but nothing super spectacular or unique. The flan came out with some fresh fruit. Overall, it was a nice ending to my meal. Weirdest 'salsa' i've ever had. It's basically ketchup consistency Food was overpriced and not very good. Service was friendly but very slow despite an empty restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. Outside seating area was kinda nice but waaaay too many chairs and tables to the point you can't really pull them out to sit. And you get to hear all the traffic on Highway 50. Mojitos and Mules appear to be their specialty according to the menu however they had NO MINT or NO GINGER BEER lol.... so I ordered the jalapeno margarita. By this point I was wondering what I had gotten myself into but the margarita was actually pretty good. They didn't use cheap mixes when making it. I probably won't ever go back but if i did it would only be to maybe get a margarita. read more

Gross experience today at Ay Jalisco. I rarely do reviews but the managers lackadaisical response to a roach walking on our table and up the wall was shocking. To start, the margaritas were sub par and the avocados used for the guacamole was old. The dull green, left out kinda old. Then the roach. I told our waitress and she was pretty humdrum about it too. Just said she'd tell the guys cleaning off the table. But she didn't. I had to show them where the roach had crawled. I asked to see the manager and her reaction (lack thereof) is what prompted this review. If you're looking for good margaritas, delicious guacamole, and a bug free environment - PLEASE go elsewhere! A strong and highly recommended Tex Mex restaurant in the Clermont area. This was recommended To Us by a friend and buy a medical provider we have seen in the area. We headed in for dinner and met up with a couple of friends. We were seated at a booth, I recommend that you sit at a table as the boots are a little bit of a tight squeeze for tall people. Our server was quick to come over and took our drink orders. I also got an appetizer of the bean dip. Our friends got the guacamole dip. For dinner I went with a burrito with pulled pork. The burrito was very large and was easy to cut in half and save for lunch the next day. It's a pretty large meal for one sitting so be hungry! It tasted really good and the pork was well seasoned. The bean dip was a little in the runny side, so I'd skip that next time. The guac tasted fresh and is get that again. Overall: A Larger portions! Skip the bean dip, try the guac. read more

I should have known better than to try Mexican Food in a northern state. There is a much larger Mexican population in the southern states and you can get very authentic Mexican food. The food I got today was polar opposite. The salsa was just okay and the queso tasted like melted Velveeya. The steak fajitas were equally bland and greasy. The rice was dried out and appeared to have been scraped off the bottom of the pan. I didn't even try the refried beans since they arrived cold. I'll stick to Mexican restaurants in the South when I'm home. Gas stations have better food than I received. Oh, and this terrible experience cost me $35. read more

Ay Jalisco was decent. I came here with my family for a family lunch. I have an aunt and cousin who live close to here so they invited everyone to lunch. Overall, their food was good. It wasn't on the line of some of the best Mexican I have had but it was better than a lot of places I have had. The service was fast and the server was nice. I was with a group so everyone ordered different items. The different items we ordered were Chicken Taco Salad, Chimichanga, Enchiladas, Taco, Burrito, and Queso, Chicken and Rice. I had the lunch combo of one enchilada and one taco. I got a chicken enchilada and a beef taco. The taco was pretty good. It had ground beef, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. It had a decent flavor. The meat was a little greasy and had a different flavor. It was still good but I wish they would have drained the meat more. The enchilada was not that great. The chicken was shredded and a little dry. The enchilada shell tasted a little funny. You could taste the grease from it being fried or something. However the shells are cooked, it tasted like oil a little. The rice and beans were good. Nothing special but they were decent and I ate both the rice and beans. My husband ordered two chicken enchiladas. He thought the enchiladas were decent. Nothing special. Overall, Jalisco wasn't horrible but it wasn't the best on earth. I thought this place was good if you're looking for a hearty Mexican meal. The quantity of food was great - a got a GIANT called the "Expresso Burrito." I got it with shredded chicken, which had an excellent flavor. My husband got the chicken fajitas. To be honest, I didn't like that flavor as much. Overly seasoned. The atmosphere was good and the service was great! They had a roaming musician which lent itself to a nice atmosphere. The only thing is that we had very little cash, and those things are always awkward when you're not prepared or equipped to give a tip. He had "tips" written on his guitar ... He was a good musician though, and we were able to scrounge up $2. I would go here again if I'm ever in the mood for Mexican. It's right off of 50 in Clermont, making it a convenient location. This was a pleasant surprise. We were in town and in the mood for Mexican and we this place on yelp. The big test for me is a simple chicken quesidilla. When the server says watch it it's very hot - they get an A+ for that. It was a bit small compared to other quesadillas I've had - but packed with meat and flavor. The big test for my wife are the tamales. Her plate was hot - it really was. My wife has high standards with Mexican and she said she was in Tamale heaven. Everything was fresh from the tomatoes to the lime. Prices were modest, waitress was great - just serve a larger quesidilla. We'll be back.
